For those who aren't familiar with OnLive, it's an online service that allows you to play PC games on PCs, Macs and Android tablets. Their server is actually running the game (think of it as a gaming PC in the cloud), and it's streaming the video to your device and giving you control via a mouse, keyboard and/or game controller. It's free to try out.
Very good review as always Lisa. I have OnLive on my PC and laptops and it works flawless. I downloaded the android app on my EVO and so far it appears to actually work on on phone.
but is the xbox controller you've been using in this video is an actual xbox controller, or microsoft's windows edition of the xbox controller? (the one that says that it was designed to work on both the PC and the xbox)
There is no windows version, they're the same controller just in different packaging, 360 controller works on both PC and Xbox, just for a wireless one you need a dongle to run it on windows. Hope I helped!
Have you noticed that the aiming doesn't work well on the gamestop controller and gta3??? And on some guns like the assault rifle with aiming option the aiming sensitivity sucks? Is this is controller problem or gta3 issue?
thats is the actual XBOX360 controller? or its the PC XBOX360 controller? because im a little bit confused seeing that there are two types :/ i want to buy one for my prime... :|
@TheTechStud I have the Prime and the Xbox controller as well. The flashing ring is about the only problem with it, just wont stop flashing sadly :D Just plug it in and use it. There are also some Tegra and Market games that support it nativly. Its a ICS feature.
@pleaseimpoor compares on many factors, what os do you like more? android or ios? do you want or need an hardware keyboard? or not, and at least what apps do you like and do you allways wanna pay for em? look shit like this up in the internet and than decide what you want, overall the new ipad is much more powerfull if you look at the cpu (im an android lover and got my prime since january) if an ipad would run android i would buy the new ipad really! just for the screen and horsepowers!
THANK YOU :) anther question though why is the one packages as a windows controller is more expensive then the 360 controller? (wired) there is a 10$ difference at the only place i found the wired version :o
There is two versions one with usb connectivity not wireless but compatable with pc and xbox the other is bluetooth for tablets, bluetooth enabled laptops, Android phones, and xbox
0:38 The extra second that Lisa *always* leaves in her intro clips is funny. There's always a second worth of awkward moment with her just smiling at the camera. I think it's cute. Haha. But I think Lisa should edit out that extra second, just to keep the flow of the video going. But then again, it does add a little bit of extra character to her videos...so no, don't edit it out, forget what I said.
actually Asus is releasing a addon accessory for Lan connection for your TF prime, This will allow 1080p streaming of Onlive content, on wifi only 720p content is allowed and the connection can stutter which can be caught with the human eye.Otherwise Lan streaming of Onlive is seamless on the TF prime
@MobileTechReview hey lisa a little help please. I have onlive on my transformer (original) and my web is at 12 Mbps yet when i run onlive the video quality is kinda ugly and pixelated. Cud it be im playing trial games and not full paid ones? Whats happening? Thanx!
acer iconia a200 is similar to asus transformer t101...so if it's t201 it's an unfair comparison...i don't have the money for more expensive ones and i think i'm going for iconia..thnx
Lisa I HAVE to ask.... are you a gamer? even a closet gamer? Watching you play games on phones and tablets is always hilarious amusing (in a good way) because from the outside you wouldnt think that you play games. =)
Now Lisa can u please tell ONLIVE gaming to hurry up and get it up and running in Australia Sydney Android for my Asus Transformer 2 Thanks that would be great Great review keep em coming
YOU GUYS seriously didn't mention the gamestop bluetooth doesn't work with onlive!!! I returned my gamestop controller. Plus aiming was strange/nonexistant in gta3 with it!
yeah it kinda sucks that even a brand new intel cpu can barely run 3d graphics like this mainly speaking about intel graphics mediaaccelorator 950 graphics card it can barely handle
the tf 101 isnt a prime its the basic transformer. the prime is vastly superior because of the display and the cpu/gpu. (quad core cpu with a companion core for amazing battery life. .) the tf201 (prime) wifi however is absolutely horrid. its almost a dealbreaker. although I do like my prime, I usually use a usb 2.0 to ethernet converter. I however would recomment the tf 301 of 700 series. (300 has a plasitiic baack for great wifi, 700 has a plastic strip and a 1080p screen)
Honeycomb, Gingerbread, Ice cream sandwich... I'm pretty sure the Android developers are being held captive and starved to death to do their work, and are trying to send us messages saying they need food...
@imasmashya Perhaps. What kind of WiFi network are you using?

I am an Onlive subscriber and I completely love the service. I can't wait for the ipad to get a playable Onlive app
@Cam1lo91 No, button presses on the controller and keyboard don't lag and gameplay is good.
@wssroach Only the XBOX 360 USB controller works. The optional dongle adapter for the XBOX wireless controller might work, but I haven't tried it.
@TheTechStud It does that with the Prime but it works fine. It doesn't do it with the Acer and assigned a slot.
@TheKla5h For both OnLive and Android games, if the game supports keyboard input, then you can certainly use the keyboard to play.
but is the xbox controller you've been using in this video is an actual xbox controller, or microsoft's windows edition of the xbox controller? (the one that says that it was designed to work on both the PC and the xbox)
The idea of onlive is amazing. I wonder what kind of bandwidth you need to play decently...
@TheTechStud Excellent! Let us know how you like it! :)
@wssroach Yes, it's for phones and tablets.
@MobileTechReview it works at that speed, yes, works like a snail works on moving. For it to be acceptable you need at least 20+ mbps
do you think the prime will be able to handle games meant for pc like diablo 2/3?
@loonyeye20 Check OnLive.com to see their requirements, but it should work with a 4 to 5Mbps connection or better.
There is no windows version, they're the same controller just in different packaging, 360 controller works on both PC and Xbox, just for a wireless one you need a dongle to run it on windows. Hope I helped!
Can you play using just the keys on the dock or do you have to use the controller?
what prime is this?? 101? 201?
Hi MobileTechReview,
Do you think this tablet or any tablet could play World Of Warcraft?
Thanks!
You said Gamestop controller for tablets, would that work for phones too? A Galaxy s...i want to buy one but i dont know too much about it
Onlive + Android = the future of gaming!
Microsoft's wired controller for Xbox. The Xbox controllers that are in the Xbox box are wireless.
Have you noticed that the aiming doesn't work well on the gamestop controller and gta3??? And on some guns like the assault rifle with aiming option the aiming sensitivity sucks? Is this is controller problem or gta3 issue?

@Harry182182 onLive doesn't need super duper fast processors. It only needs a fast wifi connection.
Wait does the Gamestop Controller work well with Onlive or no?
I have the a200 and the graphics are not as good. could that be from conjested wifi? and will it be like that in the game when I play?
THANK YOU :)
anther question though why is the one packages as a windows controller is more expensive then the 360 controller? (wired)
there is a 10$ difference at the only place i found the wired version :o
a question, it must be with Xbox 360 or you can use any?
Do you only need a wired Xbox 360 controller or something else
Hopefully the iPad 3 will be able to do this.
There is two versions one with usb connectivity not wireless but compatable with pc and xbox the other is bluetooth for tablets, bluetooth enabled laptops, Android phones, and xbox
on the asus prime do you have to have the keyboard?

@MobileTechReview how u get batman arkam city on the tablet?

@bitanGGa Yes, you certainly can.
How great of a wifi connection do you need?
@MobileTechReview hey lisa a little help please. I have onlive on my transformer (original) and my web is at 12 Mbps yet when i run onlive the video quality is kinda ugly and pixelated. Cud it be im playing trial games and not full paid ones? Whats happening? Thanx!
@scragftw Onlive is a cloud gaming. You do not have to install the game on pc/tablet/etc. to play the game.
Shocked u didn't review the onlive wireless controller
can you not use the keyboard and mouse?
Can you use wireless joystick?
acer iconia a200 is similar to asus transformer t101...so if it's t201 it's an unfair comparison...i don't have the money for more expensive ones and i think i'm going for iconia..thnx
@steliospitsillides Don't see any Asus hating in this thread. And I own a Prime and original Transformer, so it ain't me hating :)
Can you get onlive on the Sony Tablet S?
Lisa I HAVE to ask.... are you a gamer? even a closet gamer? Watching you play games on phones and tablets is always hilarious amusing (in a good way) because from the outside you wouldnt think that you play games. =)
Can I use a xbox wireless controller, too???
Now Lisa can u please tell ONLIVE gaming to hurry up and get it up and running in Australia Sydney Android for my Asus Transformer 2 Thanks that would be great
Great review keep em coming
OMG work on the iPad 2?
Of course it can.Almost every PC can run onlive, you only need good internet connection.
Can the wireless controller work wit emulator games
does onlive work on the galaxy S 10.1
We demo'd two controllers.
can you try onlive with lte connection (xyboard) ...
This experience will be so much better once tablets start getting really fast processors.
@RidingMad125 Actually, it is streamed by a third party server.
YOU GUYS seriously didn't mention the gamestop bluetooth doesn't work with onlive!!! I returned my gamestop controller. Plus aiming was strange/nonexistant in gta3 with it!
Your voice is nice and clear but please SLOW DOWN in future videos. I had to back up several times to figure out what you were saying.
@PivotXL1 idk if its 12Mbps for sure. all i know is that its fast. i download plenty of files almost instantly. so idk.
@hcseanwu Yes, you can mirror the screen with HDMI.
I wish steam would do something like this.
I would love to see you play Skyrim on it :D
@allabtMando Hahaha...
I WANT THIS! =D
yeah it kinda sucks that even a brand new intel cpu can barely run 3d graphics like this mainly speaking about intel graphics mediaaccelorator 950 graphics card it can barely handle
okish, thanks :D
@CHILDOFHARLEM yes
@steliospitsillides really ?? what ?
the tf 101 isnt a prime its the basic transformer. the prime is vastly superior because of the display and the cpu/gpu. onlive looks like crap on my tf prime.. bad connection?
and windows phone(xbox live enabled)
I find the quality is much lower on my Transformer than on PC. Same connection.
@JogBird Ha ha yea I do the exact same thing.
OMG Leslie Winkle irl
yeeeya
how did i get here?
Honeycomb, Gingerbread, Ice cream sandwich... I'm pretty sure the Android developers are being held captive and starved to death to do their work, and are trying to send us messages saying they need food...
I mean 360 joystick
@mdcykkk9 there would be no point at all...
@JC5301 12 Mbps? I'm sorry for your suffering.
No, the GPU is better than the transformer prime; however, the prime has a stronger CPU.
the awkward moment when your desktop cant even run that shit.
@steliospitsillides lol wtf?
Anybody wanna join me and my homies OnLive, hit me up with your name ina pm!
i cant find any reason why anyone would like to use a controller bigger than his phone ON his phone lol :P
Her voice reminds me of Ellen.
Implying the asus prime is a phone lol
All to much $ still and not good enough.
