If you think that this law is worth changing, write to you're a local legislator with your thoughts about it. That being said, the statute clearly states that the prohibition against feeding wildlife is in effect and current as of January, 2024. Far from being some "meaningless" (as you put it) piece of arcane law, buried deep within an ancient and dusty tome of forgotten historical law, this statute is up to date and enforced, and for good reason. More people are attacked and injured or killed by aggressive moose habituated to humans than cougars and bears. Let that sink in.

Congratulations! You now are the proud, but terrified owner of a huge moose. You are now responsible for mandatory feedings and you must obey feeding him regardless of the time of day and it will not matter if you were busy or on the toilet. The moose will never accept not being given those apples, so you must keep an endless supply of them year round. Yes, you will be stalked. And yes, you most likely will still be attacked. But don't worry, he will tell all his other friends about your generosity and you will now be responsible for feeding them too. 😂👍🏼
Moose are smarter than you think. They can associate the location of the fridge as a food source very quickly, even bring friends. If it really wanted to out of hunger, it can come back and break through since it sees you as non threatening (dominatable) to get to the source of yumyums. Some of them might get aggressive if it thinks you're hiding the gems.
