Being a continually challenging time for pedal creators, I always smile when I see a new EQD device bc the creativity is just so damn cool. Kudos to EQD for always being refreshing and never mundane. You can bet its damn hard to do that in today's pedal climate.
Absolutely. Though it's very temperature sensitive and partial to camera batteries, the Zvex Fat Fuzz Factory is an amazingly flexible take on the Fuzz Face.Rolled back, the best clean tone you could want, and from there, Drive, Distortion,-all the way to gated, crushed, and completely blown out. EQD's long discontinued Dirt Transmitter was the best Silicon FF variant that I've come across; and I'm generally not a fan of Silicon clipping. The Hudson Broadcast is currently my favourite Germanium clipper.
YES. The video I've been waiting for. I'm in love with my Zoar and I keep finding new sounds in it every time I plug in. This drive will never leave my board.
Greetings from SoCal, but fellow Ohioan around the New Philadelphia area. Zoar Inn is haunted af. Top floor especially. There used to be a painting of a lady who owned the inn or had some connection to the inn. Her ghost haunts the upper floor. My friend's mom worked there in the late 70s, early 80s, and asked who the woman was in the painting. When told the lady was deceased my friend's mom said she was upstairs and just seen her. Awesome sounding pedal, time to add another EQD to the arsenal.
Was really like "cool, but definitely not for me" until I heard the bass demoed. The 2 settings Jamie picked were fantastic and really make me want to throw in on top of a Fender-ish short scale bass. I'm really excited to try it now. Cheers!
This pedal has been growing on me. At first i had a hard time liking it but as i started to understand the knobs more i realized how good it can sound. Its got this grunge sound almost rat like, like if the rat pedal had a fuzz knob- it sits really nice with my walrus slo. Havent tried it with my eqd swiss things boost yet or in 18v mode; but thats next!
This thing is outstanding on Bass! so unbelievably versatile, and sounds great with every bass i throw at it. I even started using it almost like an edge of breakup preamp which i think may be where it excels the most. Thank you for making this incredible tool
I think this is the best bass dirt yet from EQD, I’m loving it! Approaching a week with it and I’m impressed as hell. It came unannounced and swiftly kicked the pedal I was using off my board, which was twice the price and about 3 times less useful, lookin’ at you TONE knob! Earthquaker Devices is pretty much the only pedal company that consistently gets me hyped every release. Meat and Potatoes to Inter-dimensional space bending magic boxes.
You guys create the best pedals, it’s unreal. I have a Hoof, Plumes, and Special Cranker right now. Zoar and Acapulco Gold will be here tomorrow. 🤘🤘 thank you for all you guys do!!
@@EarthQuakerDevices Beyond impressed!! I really appreciate the hard work you guys put into this. I have 53 effects pedals, I’m absolutely obsessed. The Zoar at its 18V takes them all so well without compromising headroom. It’s the perfect pedal for pedals, idk how else to describe it.
I was hoping we could get some low gain settings on the pedal as well. I was surprised to see that with the gain control at zero it delivered a sound I’d be happy with using. A pedal like this where you’re invited to actually use the possibilities of playing dynamically is something I really welcome in the world of pedal building. I’m glad to see it used like this. I’d be even happier when the pedal was more directed to those who use less gain over all. I’d order one immediately! ❤
Great demo, Jamie. Many thanks for (1) three band EQ and (2) the option for 18V - hawt - and (3) that bass demo, which alone was enough to sell me on the pedal, and (4) running such a freakin' cool company.
@@EarthQuakerDevices So, my Zoar arrived a couple of days ago - I got one of the Blacked Out specials - and it's even better than I'd hoped. It's just astonishingly flexible - a huge range of sounds, from chimney sparkle to Rat snarl to fat flubby fuzz. And it sounds different (but great) on everything from single coils to humbuckers to bass to baritone to drum machine to some crazy home-built instruments. I bought it expecting basically a Tone Job plus some mid-level gain - a handy utility to stack with other stuff. But this pedal is a true instrument all on its own. Gotta go write up some reviews now. Thanks for being cool!
Tried a bunch of overdrives today to give my clean sound that extra bit of weight and a tiny bit of break up without losing the clarity of my clean sound. The man in the shop almost put this back on the shelf because it was probably to much for the tone i was looking for. I ended up with this pedal in my bag. I thought it worked great for me on a lower setting with the guitar volume knob dialed back a little.
You know what's up! Yes this can add a great texture on the clean tone as well! It pokes thru the mix in a really pleasant way! I would call it a modern clean tone! Thanks for trusting us!
I'm thinking I'm going to need to pick this one up. I'm a bass player and I loved your Alcapulco Gold as its a meaty fuzz especially on bass but I've been finding I need something a little less aggressive at times and this sounds like i might be the one
Blumes does the low distorted bass tone really well! The Zoar can stay pretty clean or get pushed hard into overdrive but still has great low end. They actually work really nicely together!
Not sure on the pickups, but the headstock addition is called the String Butler. Mine works quite well. -5 points on aesthetics, but +10 points on tuning stability.

Thats very kind of you to say, thank you for your support!! ❤️🤘
I couldn't agree more! 😊
Wish I had a weight gain control.
You do. It's called a healthy diet and exercise.
Same dude, same

My mind had over complicated this pedal but this video made it very easy to understand and also made it easy to hear that it’s awesome. Cheers EQD.
Great to hear!
I’m hearing 70’s Judas Priest tones. My local shop just got this in. I need to go try it for myself. Well done sir!
Sounds amazing. Fuzz face with rolled down guitar volume is the best overdrive you can get.
Heck yeah!!
Absolutely.

Camera batteries?
The multi voltages for operation really are the hidden nuggets of gold. The Zoar is truly a badass device!
Right!! Thanks so much!

Enjoy!
Looks like I’ll be putting this right between my Plumes and my Hizumitas. Really dig the bass sound of this one.
Rock on!!

I swear I heard the exact tone from Corrosion of Conformity’s Deliverance album @4:26-4:36!!!!! Awesome pedal!!!!

No surprise this is the best video I’ve seen demonstrating the Zoar. 🎉
Thanks! Safe to say Jamie knows Zoar better than anyone!!🤘
My next EQD purchase for sure! In love with my recent Hizumitas fuzz purchase and I’m ready to get more!!!

Came for the pedal, stayed for the string butler.

This is so rad! That bass section is bonkers.
Sounds gnarly! Love the graphics & finish.
EQD's Dave Neeson did the artwork!!
I said I was done buying gain pedals for awhile but then this comes out
Wasn´t expected, but this is one my favourite dirty-maker pedals released in a looong time 🖤

I see who this is giving a special nod to by the artwork and the many examples with a P90 loaded SG.

Palisades + Zoar + Life Pedal + IR/power amp sim = ampless rig all day. Fairly certain this is gonna be my mid gain tone for the foreseeable future 🤘
🙌

Sounds fantastic used with bass! Wow 👌🏽 perfectamundo!!
This is awesome. And this pedal is priced really great! I’m definitely gonna get one. Swiss Army knife of fuzz/distortion/OD. ✌🏻💙
Hope you'll enjoy it! It's great as a textured booster as the EQ and weight work in many ways!
Really cool that the blue hammertone is the default enclosure
💙
I think jamie is going through an sg phase. Im here for it
Roar For Zoar 🦁
Sounds pretty good ! My next fuzztorsion pedal! 🔥🔥

This thing sounds so cool. I have to get one.
Do it!
Killer sounding pedal. I can’t wait to get it. It will sound great with the Ledges
As someone who owns both, it does, in fact, sound great with the ledges
Sounds awesome! Mine just arrived yesterday!!
Woo!! Hope you enjoy it!
I love it! Lots of great sounds within!
So “The Ledges” is a nod to Nelson’s Ledges quarry/biker haven.😎🎸👌🏾

It sounds like Zoar is the one!🤘
Sounds absolutely killer.
Purchased this pedal. It’s very nice. Gritty, grinding dirt. Love it!
I own a backup of this pedal too. This is one of the best dirt pedals I’ve ever played. Truly outstanding.
I already have a twin reverb and clean boost pedal, yet i feel compelled to buy this 😆
sounds great ill put one on my wish list 18 volts wakes this pedal up.
Super cool. Really need to try this out with a bass.
You should!
Great demo! Thank you 🙏. I have one inbound
Fantastic! Enjoy your Zoar!!
Oh this is new?
Seems to be versatile, even for bass and all that at a reasonable price, maybe i'll get one!
Bought this in eastern eu smiling, my 4th eqd pedal ..
It makes me feel old school Magic Card
i love my Afterneath, it sits after delay and before reverb stages in my loop
“How many more cool EQD pedals are you going to make?”
Jamie: Yes
💯
Let the Utopian Dissenter Music Begin!
Great video!
Thanks for watching!!
What a beautiful nerd. ❤
Bass demo yeaaaaaahhhhhh!!!
Of course!! Zoar rips on bass
Do I really need another distortion unit? Yes!
Love EQD
❤️❤️❤️
This will be my 7th EQD pedal😅
Wow wow! Thanks for that!
Sounds great
Thanks!!
Cool I just got mine yesterday
Have fun!!😎
かっこいい!!宮腰さんのpostで知りました!
We have come from Zoar!
🛸
Sounds rad! What’s that first song Jamie plays on bass?
hello.. has the team already made a harmonic percolator ????
love the bass tone, thanks! with the new Blumes, how do they compare?
Blumes does the low distorted bass tone really well! The Zoar can stay pretty clean or get pushed hard into overdrive but still has great low end. They actually work really nicely together!
Could this be the PDF2’s alternative?
I'm sending this to all my friends who "don't like fuzz"
🫡
Does it cleanup great with the volume knob?
Yes it does! Hope you try this pedal!
This sounds amazing. I have a Palisades though, so I'm not sure this would be a meaningful purchase. At least for now...

🤘
so is this like a bd2 kind of “distortion”?
It can do more than that!
KID STUFF
Is this a CMOS pedal?
It is not!
so basically WEIGHT is a resonance knob you see in metal amp and pedals
First! Oh yes
Nothing a prince a tone can’t do
Prince of Tone doesn't have a 3 band EQ
Not bad bite but the tuna ain't workin
