I listen to this song probably once a day. It is so macabre, but I can't get the "I found empathy from madness, deliverance from Malaise" out of my head... This song is utter perfection!
There is a death in the middle of the B-52’s Rock Lobster: “Motion in the ocean His air hose broke Lots of trouble Lots of bubble He was in a jam S'in a giant clam” The song goes on in an up beat fashion and the victim is forgotten about while everyone on the beach enjoys the sun in their tanning butter. I like to think this video is a rescue mission for the forgotten diver’s remains in Rock Lobster. Rest In Peace
@@flipmode1237 whew it’s been 8 years since I posted that first comment. honestly it’s still true and I’m not sure I will ever listen to this song enough times to fully satisfy that particular itch in my soul. This is still one of my favorite songs so so many years later. I stumbled across this song right before I went thru one of the most painfully depressive periods of my life so far and I found a lot of peace in the way he delivers this song. The actual melody of the song is a gorgeous marvel in itself. The jazzy saxophone transitions add a touch of spice and the old timey familiar sounding piano and drums backtrack are really just amazingly transcendent. it really does soothe my tired heart and spirit. The calming melancholic melody and that repeated phrase “all I need Is some sunshine” because when I first found this song I was in a time where I really did NEED some sunshine. It felt like I was surrounded by the “black water” and it really did feel like I was drowning. I still feel that heaviness some days but nowhere near as immensely and for different reasons nowadays.
I want to be 18 and drunk af, sitting at the outside of a party , smoking a cigarette, with a guy I just met, and we vibe and listen to this together and we just enjoy each other’s presence , while staring at the sky, our thoughts wandering free , and listening to this song play
The good old days. Running around the streets of Detroit all hours of the night. Connecting with the most beautiful creative souls. Didn't happen often but when it did wow all of life made sense.
I randomly found this song on youtube. or.... it found me.... or the great AI Lord knows me so well.... whatever This song is beautiful. If you need someone to sway along. I am here.
I had a stroke in 2019 and for some reason kept this song on repeat when I was in the neuro unit and after recovering. Maybe i did it on purpose to burn some certain feeling into my brain (I like to do that for some reason) But it worked bc everytime I hear this song I have a surge of anxiety and a bitter ptsd feeling that brings me back to that time.
Kalil Jackson thanks Kalil, I appreciate that. I am doing pretty good! Hope you’re doing good too! I’m feeling grateful for what I have everyday, and feeling strong and capable, staying positive, etc. The anxiety I mentioned in my comment is all but a distant memory. I wouldn’t have believed you if you told me 6 years ago that I’d soon be anxiety-free, everyday feeling secure, happy, greatful, positive, self-aware, insightful, & in touch with my intuition. I don’t think the past me even thought it was possible- I probably would’ve thought that personal development was a waste of time and held on to my victim mindset. Now I just wish I had tried it sooner! Every day is a new opportunity to start a new life/a new you. Learning and putting in the work for personal development and self insight is always worth it. And it can help anyone and everyone, even the most depressed or anxious people.
It's really heartwarming seeing all you people who commented on here about your issues like half a decade ago updating on your situation and saying things are fine. Hopefully I'll be in the same position soon. I've been brainfked for 3 years now and it doesn't seem to be going away no matter what. This song helps calm me down though.
I remember a time you could make me forget everything evil in this world by simply laying your head on my chest. You were my Nobel you were my calm ... now you are my pain my loneliness and my fondest memory.
A couple of years ago I had the tendency to listen to your music while playing RDR2, from a mixed playlist of dark gothic western music on Spotify. It's just part of me now, and I think I will do it again, cause it got me very nostalgic about it. Thank you for your music 🙏🏻❤️
An ill-spent 42nd year, a black sense of humor, 20 years work on the Northwest Atlantic, plenty narcotics, sex, and a consuming fascination with decay, brought me here. I straight-up love this song, and this band, and this starkly beautiful life.
Wow. That was eerily beautiful. Music like this SHOULD be brought to light but, even IT will remain in the shadows of You Tube-like I found it: resplendent. Bravo.

Some friends and I were drinking outside another friends apartment. My friend Dusty busted out his phone and started playing it. Thats when I first heard it.
You held me tonight... it broke my heart. I wished on every star i saw, they winked back. Life is laughing at this game it plays with me... you guys must be friends.
All I need is some sunshine All I need... All I need is some sunshine All I need... The siren called beyond the treeline With another one for the caves And in the tarn beyond those birches There's a spirit that I crave And from the island people watched you You set that viking shiver place We reached the moon falls, I see cauldron And found the spirit that I crave All I need is some sunshine All I need... All I need is some sunshine All I need... You've fallen barefoot past the treeline Beaten, boned-eyed, butchered, swayed A thousand whitefish floating belly up In the spirit that I crave And we threw ourselves right into it Where lay the bodies had been claimed We dove a third out for the fifth Banned to the spirit that I crave All I need is some sunshine All I need...
