I personally think the point of Zommari's design in his released state is that, despite him believing he can see the truth, whether it be in regards to Aizen or in regards to why Soul Reapers kill hollows, he is, in fact, blind to it. He believes Aizen to be worthy of his worship, when Aizen would sooner throw him into a pit of fire than pull him out of one. He doesn't understand why hollows are evil, when their consumption of souls causes an imbalance in the universe, and would destroy everything if left unchecked. He thinks he sees the truth, but is blind to it, thus the numerous eyes. His eyes that manipulate what they see to his liking, the way he does for the truth, cover his body, but when faced with the overwhelming pressure of someone not concerned for his games, he fails to stand up.
Remember. Aizen v. Hitsgaya at Central 46 = “I will absolutely take a minute out of my day to clown on you just to prove that I can.” Aizen v. Unohana = “Goodbye. You will probably never see me again.”
"You pointed your blade at my pride." Remember what Ukitake said? "A man has two reasons as to why he fights. He either fights to protect his life, or he fights to protect his pride."
Zommari feels like a victim of crunch time and is not gonna be last time it happens on the manga because Jump editorial is brutal but a lot of what happens in his fight will serve a purpose eventually in some form of another. With that said the best part of Zommari is that one end of episode gag where he and Byakuya teleport behind each other over and over.
My favorite part of this fight is the very end when Byakuya explains that he didn't kill Zommari because he's a hollow or anything like that, but because he aimed his sword at Byakuya's pride, as he's looking at Rukia. It's just such a great character moment that shows that, even if he doesn't really show it much, he REALLY cares about Rukia.
@@agamotto5354 Also byakuya's line "I am not reaping you because you're a hollow. It's because you aimed your blade at my pride." is one of my favorite lines in the series. I honestly can't wait to see your reaction to my personal favorite Byakuya moment much later on in the series. I wont elaborate further.
Byakuya vs Zommari is supposed to illustrate how Byakuya's philosophy has changed since the soul society arc. He is faced with the same predicament in that fight as he is in the SS arc. However, this time around, he does not compromise. He not only saves Rukia however also fulfills his duty by defeating his opponent. Zommari was effectively used as fodder to develop Byakuyas character.
One thing that I think this arc displays really well is that Byakuya is legitimately one of the Soul Society's ringers. He's certainly not at the very top, but he's arguably SS's most proficient all-rounder for the majority of the series. A big factor in Ichigo's victory in the Soul Society arc came down to the simple fact that, despite all his bluster about honor and duty, Byakuya's heart really just wasn't in tbe fight. Ichigo would have had a much greater struggle against a more determined Byakuya. This fight, aside from it's character building, does a great job of showing off Byakuya's abilities. When he decides the fight is over, it ends.
I only remember him for the speed contest he had with Byakuya in an after credits scene on one of the episodes, it's fucking hilarious doing the *Teleports behind you* over and over.
Actualy, later in the series there will be a piece of information that will make one look at Zomari and everything weird about him from a somewhat more interesting perspective. SPOILER His "aspect of death" is "intoxication".
To be fair, I actually love the pumpkin design. With inhuman and weird Hollows often are in the show - going for such a crazy design feels right. 2:30 Not gonna like - beyond Soul Society arc - I feel like there have been like only one actual moment that made Byakuya's fight fun. He is relatively bland character and his powers after the original wow-factor of pretty petals - are kinda whatever. It's literally the same type of sword as the dude that attacked Uryu and Inoue back in Soul Society, Byakuya just has few thousand more blades to top it off. If anything it's the "fillers" that make him slightly more exciting, but other than that his usual pragmatism quickly turned him into background character for me. Mostly as a device to push Rukia or Renji further or as a reference for Ichigo's earlier fights/origin. But there is no mystery really there left that would be nice to have with him. And with him being one of the Noble families - he had a lot place where Kubo could have explored his character, he is a relatively young head of Noble family and there totally should be some machinations in the background that would involve him as an important character. Even just this fight feels like a filler to other fights - like hey, we brought Kuchiki to Huenco Mundo, I guess we have to have him fight someone. And then he just gets a dude that is fully countered by Senbonsakura's sheer size. Like I could imagine this would be way more satisfying, if it was Arroniero or Szayel. Or I would love to see him fight the "old man" you put at #1. 9:20 I feel like with how chill he is - Kubo easily could give him almost zealous group of followers that could bring some shine to him as a character. We haven't had a single good/lovable Vasto Lorde shown yet - Nel probably being like the closest as an ex-Espada. Having this philosophically oriented character have extra characters to play with him, would work well here. Maybe if not during actual fight - then maybe after the fight - have him actually have followers that would save him from death and we could have him as character grow in the future and have some impact on Huenco Mundo in later arcs. His debate about right to slay Hollows could be a mindful start to talk about peace between Hollows and Soul Society. And maybe we could have a stale-mate instead of the one-sided defeat. Imagine if he could match the amount of his eyes to Senbonsakura's blades, the grotesque pumpkin made out of eyes would be such a vibe. 11:00 I mean he still can roll quickly around, Akimichi style. I do feel like the faces on the pumpkin could have been just eyes, giving him a look of bizzare statue or Beholder/Evil Eye - yes. Mind you there are those non-canon forms of all Espada linked with Hogyoku that Kubo made for Brave Souls game. Zommari is so much cooler there - the pumpkin is fully bloomed and you can actually see that he is in the meditating pose, growing out of a giant lotus flower, floating above the ground (which makes me think that it was supposed to be a flower bloom and not just pumpkin with faces). There is also a chance that this fight was originally planned to be longer and Zommari would reveal his flower at some point? I mean Byakuya also haven't used his more advanced techniques either, so there is a chance that was original plan? 14:25 Like you can actually see that those are giant petals when you look at him from the top. And with how the control seals are flower shaped - maybe when bloomed, he could have had an area effect that could counter regular Senbonsakura?
......I don't think I realized this until watching your video, but I think Zommari might have become the fastest Espada because he was an almost-immobile Adjuchas. A beast who lurked in the desert, controlling all the creatures who stepped within his vision and forcing them to approach him so that he could devour them. Aizen found him and gave him the freedom to move. Not just to move...but to move faster than anyone else. There's more I could elaborate on, but that's spoilers for future lore in this arc. Thank you for this insight! You made me appreciate Zommari a little more!
@@AlexSalvatore00 Oh, right, I can elaborate now! I think Zommari CHOSE to have greater speed. Ulquiorra talked about how he chose regeneration over pure strength, so when--actually, there's a little more lore. But it was mostly the Ulquiorra thing. This is also why Zommari is so zealous: Aizen freed him from Immobility. The only reason he could move was thanks to Aizen, so BANZAI!!!
Zommari has cool design. But i wish he was handle better. He feels like one of the game boss where you have this intimidating boss character but surprise you get a character/weapon who is good against and make this boss look alike random NPC.
I think a backstory would have went a long way in at least making Zommari a more defined character. Especially since you can piece together what Kubo was probably intending his backstory to be. Kubo has said that Zommari represents intoxication. That paired with the face that resurrecion is a return to your original form helps us piece together a backstory. Zommari when he became an aduichas likely couldn't move and that probably left him with a lot of time to think about the world and his position in it, likely causing him to have an existential crisis. This was likely ended by Aizen with the hogyoku, giving him a human body and the ability to move and momentarily stopping his existential crisis. His intoxication comes from the fact that he's obbsessed with his own speed, he believed Aizen was the solution to all his problem. He made Aizen a god in him mind and became a zealot for him. Once he realised Byakuya was fast than him he likely realised that the gift Aizen gave him wasn't good enough and it likely shook his faith. Once he switched back to his original form he returned to his thoughts about existance, finally ending with him praising Aizen before his death.
Byakuya being a protective brother and even referring to Rukia as his pride was quite the heartwarming turn around given the dark past events. But still, that's in the past. Zommari's hammy final moments is honestly the only memorable aspect of his character and it was pretty pathetic. Byakuya protecting his pride was more meaningful.
Now that this one is revealed, I must say that I was really impressed by you for having the right guess for the "top" group (# 1 to 5) and the "bottom" group (# 7, 8, 9)
I think Zommari's "sense of justice" could have been interesting to see more of! That's like, "supposed" to be his personality trait, I think. Unohana not fighting makes sense "in-universe" for the reasons you mentioned But "Out-of-universe" Kubo is clearly hyping her up as one of those "low key-badasses", by teasing that side of her like in the example here. And there is a good reason for that... I think what Kubo was going for, is Rudbone seeing something in Unohana which just made him go "Nope!"
Hey, I love how you look at things and what you take from the reading, and congrats on getting one number right! That fight was meant more to give Byakuya some much needed growth after the soul socity arc, "I am not reaping you because you're a hollow. It's because you aimed your blade at my pride." is the line that really started a change in him as a character and began his development (his fight with Ichigo was the wake up call) But lets look at Zommari, I think he has more to him that is missed, his "Intoxication" Aspect of Death is shown to us in a oppsite way, he seems so calm, collected and composed, while Intoxication as a reference to the mechanic of causing one to lose control of their own behavior, is oppsite to being clam and collected as he his. We can see that as the fight gose on he loses his composure as he becomes condescending and argumentative, and it happnes because he seems like he can't gain control over what is going on. We move on to his Resurrección, and thats why I don't like him, that desige was a miss by kubo, but we take the L when we have to, better here then other chracters. Zommari at this point can take control over other beings, and as he dose it a eye opens up with its pupils dilated, one symptom of intoxications, here we can see how all he dose is trying to gain control over things while getting intoxicated by doing so getting more confident and arrogant in the process. Lets go over some of the things he said, we need to take it into consideration that drunk people usually are more honest and tell the truth, "in vino veritas" in wine, there is truth. "Everything is 'governed' by its rightful master. Subordinates act under the orders of their superiors. The masses live under the rule of their king. The clouds move according to the will of the wind. The moonlight is ruled by the light of the sun." - this is order or in other words control, and as long as control is maintained this are all truths. "You Shinigami cut us down as though it were simply the natural way of things! Do you truly think yourself gods?! Who exactly gave you the right to cut down the Hollows?! Is it because we feed upon the humans?! Why, then who gave you the right to protect those humans?! Nay! Nobody has granted you the right to undertake any of this!! You Shinigami label us as evil, and thoughtlessly slice us down purely because in your arrogance, you fancy yourselves to be the purveyors of some great 'justice' of your own making!" - here he is speaking his truth, unlike all the other hollows or espada he is the only one to question the natural way of things as he is seeking truth. At the end when he screams BANZAI BANZAI and calls out for his lord Aizen, this is him being intoxicated with his love for Aizen as his lord who gave him the power to control his intoxication. I need to add I may be worng, this is only an opinion I have on him. waiting on the next video much love!
If the anime did ONE thing right It is that Zommari somewhat memorable cuz of it, they did a really cool and funny after credits scene between byakuya and zom which ill not be forgetting anytime soon
Hi. I recently discovered your channel and I'm absolutely going to go back and watch your earlier videos. As someone who read Bleach when it originally came out I just wanted to say thanks for letting me enjoy it all over again through the eyes of someone new. 🙂 FWIW, I've read Zommari's release is supposed to be based on a sea urchin, with his power being used to drag his prey to him.
Ohhhh, I REALLY cant wait to get to THAT moment. Also, the Exequias and Rudbornn were absolutely smart to book it away from that fight. Unohana is one of the oldest Captains in the Soul Society and, healer or not, that means something. Yeah, I do think that Zommari could have had a slightly different design. Maybe something with tentacles? Lean into the almost eldritch nature of his powers? I dont know.
About Unohana being "a healer rather than a fighter", you must not forget that as a captain (even of the healing division) she still has to be stronger than anyone else in the Soul Society aside from her fellow captains and has to be able to use Bankai. Not gonna say anything that's a spoiler but there is a reason nobody has dared to fight her yet; not even Aizen considered it worth the trouble even after one-shotting Hitsugaya.
@@Alex-dh2cx Why should I? I'm not spoiling anything at all, I just presented the facts that have *already* been established. Facts that many newcomers seem to overlook because they are distracted by others.
Yeah, kinda surprised how many newcomers think "she's not a fighter" because she prefers to heal. Combat medics are still a thing, and as a captain she has to be strong.
I mean I think it's a combination of all of it, the exequias (or whatever these were called) aren't even espada and seemed to lean on the numbers and seem to finish off people? So maybe a fully healed captain is outside of their pay grade Also because hollows used to be people some residual knowledge about the rules of war might remain inside and take more brain space now that some of their reason is restored by being an arrancar
From what I understand about Zommari's Resurrección, I believe it's meant to be a closed lotus flower that's yet to bloom. My reasoning for thinking of this is in the mobile game Bleach Brave Souls the Espada have upgraded resurrección forms that're design by Kubo, and with Zommari's, the closed bottom of his transformation opens up and it looks very reminiscent to an open lotus flower. Along with that Zommari has an on going monk theme with his character, from oh he constantly has his hands held in prayer almost, like the Christian praying hands or Anjali mudra of Buddhism. Even his Zanpakuto's name Brujeria translates to Witchcraft in Spanish, and the Japanese translation Kubo created for it was Cursing/Wicked Monk's Eye. Which is makes a lot of sense with his character since for since in Buddhism the third eye has the significance of being the gateway to inner wisdom and enlightenment, along with having multiple faces being indicative of one having an enhanced perception, as depicted of many Buddhist deities. This coupled with Zommari's cult like devotion to Aizen, I feel like it all around fits for his character, the design is just a bit... Off 😂
I totally agree that Zomari is an espada that leaves a lot to be desired and feels like it wasn't used in a good way compared to the others, but I can't blame Tite Kubo for this since he was under a lot of pressure from the beginning of his manga by the WSJ, in fact he claims that he has a lot of histories about both characters and the world of Bleach that he couldn't implement due to lack of time and pressure from the WSJ to meet deadlines, he even had to change how some characters related to each other. I strongly recommend the UNMASKED one shot, which is a short story about Ulquiorra that gives much more weight to his character, one of the many stories that Kubo couldn't include in his manga
I think Zomari is certainly the weak link in terms of character umong the espata, but i do like his resurection Release form, I think its a cool unqiue, and gross design, especially when he retracts into it, many espata designs are inspired off of animals. Zomarri out here looking like a sea creature tho, like a sea urchin. I also really like the tattoo's he projects out, the symbol of the eye and that he is covered in eyes, makes him look like a cross between a bloodborne enemy and a hello-kitty character. Not the best best design but i still like it :)
i would agree on him being a bit weird not to really on the level of the other Espada. i think the idea was instead of him having to move to someone quickly to have an impact, he can just look at them so he is "faster" technically but as a years old fan, i do forget him over and over again and just remember him as the "boring guy" that is one of the few characters i cant even remember his name so yea. the other once are better, i promisse xD
To be honest, I enjoyed this fight a lot just because Byakuya. He showed lot of growth, in direction he was originally striving to be but failed. It was lot more personal for him, than it seems. Even if it is not for opponent. Plus kinda puts into play that he does not care for cause of his enemy more than his own. It is nice reminder that people may be in for different reasons which brought them conflict. But in the end, one who is seriously about keeping something, needs take his own cause above others. If animal wants to eat my family, is his hungry view more important than mine? Some people are showing lack of this lesson. Also some lines he utter are just pure badass. Like that about pointing blade to his pride. Or "Your downfall, will not be your arrogance. It will simply be difference of our skills." Let that sink in!
Here is a non spoiler question, Have you noticed the design pattern (if you haven't been spoiled yet) that each Espada's personality is designed around? Well, even if you knew, its not a big spoiler, but each Espada's personality is built around 1 of a specific element (and in some cases their power is too), and all 10 elements are all loosely related to a key meta idea. Unfortunately, when its officially stated, they then basically list all of them out so there is no room for theorycrafting, but your expert analysis of the series means your theorycrafting ability would yield some really interesting results. It would be an interesting theory video if you analyzed each espadas personality, what they say, how they act, and tried to sum it up in one word and tried to guess how they are all related.
I feel you with Zommari, he is so forgettable most of the time I can't ever even remember his number. The only thing I ever really remember him by is his ending speech.
Yo hope the next video comes soon you wasted 16min on a character no no likes and when i say no one I mean no one and of anyone says they do there lying
@@thepig6054 I don’t think it was a waste :/ I want to try to give every part of the story that makes me feel something its due, however it makes me feel.
@@agamotto5354I for one enjoyed the video and dont think it was a waste even if its not my favorite fight who cares its part of the story and deserves to be talked about ❤
I feel like there's 2 different sides to his design like yeah it's not pleasing to look at but it's objectively good as it compliments his resurrección and knowing Kubo There's probably also some symbolism in there too cause if it's not cool looking it has meaning as long as he draws it. Or both.
Exactly, like * * *SPOILER* * * That famous 🦗resurrection. That everyone talks about how much ugly it is, while the point of it was exactly that ! Not only it was connected to the name of “his other powers” (I’m trying to speak with less spoiler words possible). But in japanese culture, some specific insects (as *that* insect) are considered like the bottom of the abyss, of stagnation, of corruption and dirty things itself. So, normally it seems just an ugly ressurection, but when you know the symbolic meaning of eat you fully appreciate it. Also the fact that he seem to be more strong when not released. Since, as said, the point was the corruption and “touching the pit”
We don't get an unohana fight until the final arc when she has no ther option since she is more of a healer, the shinigami also don't like to make their main healer fight but there was no one else to step up and do it that time, but it's pretty cool when we actually see her fight, and she has some very creative ways of using her healing abilities when fighting, there is a reason why she is a captain after all
I for one really like Zommari's first form, the skull earrings and bone mohawk are very cool and the eyes that appear on his forehead are interesting and remind me of a spider. If only Kubo would've kept that 'punk spider' aesthetic.
The main problem is that Zommari is all over the place. He is somehow extremely fast, but also can contort his body, he can make his sword float and he can control limbs. There’s no theme to him. He‘s very stoic and hypocritical when he says that a shinigami killing a hollow simply because they eat souls is stupid because shinigami purify souls, they don’t kill the individual. If they played up his „control“ aspect more it would‘ve been interesting. Personality wise I would‘ve loved if he was more of a pacifist who was forced to do this job because Aizen did something to him. He was always stoic, so why not play that up and make him actually be between a rock and a hard place by either refusing to kill a downed combatant like Rukia or be tortured by Aizen.
The highlight of this fight is really just the one liners Byakuya drops that makes him look so cold "You aimed your blade at my pride" "The reason you'll die isn't arrogance. It's simply a difference in skill" "Even after I've discarded an arm and a leg, we are far from equal" Unfortunately Zommari's kinda a bozo but I can't wait for the next vid one of my favourite fights from Hueco Mundo
Yeah if Zommari had more time to actually do things and interact with people I think he could’ve been WAY more interesting. Seeing Byakuya’s character development though is great. And how quickly he cut his own muscles shows what he’s willing to do. Would’ve liked if this fight was a tad bit longer. Also Zommari questioning the right of Soul reapers could’ve been VERY VERY interesting considering Aizen’s own goals. Regardless, now with the captains in Hueco Mundo we’re really getting into the meat of things.
I think that his form was that of a closed lotus. He was stoic and asking philosophical questions about judgement and God. He was seen in a meditating stance. His ability was that of control/domination and he was covered in eyes, not unlike the TRUTH from FMA. I think it fit his character well enough, even if it did look silly. And that despite all his front of wisdom, he was tricked into following a man of literal illusions.
The thing about what they say as "the fastest" or "the sturdiest" and others, we think it's more talking about their base form since it's not consistent when they enter resurrection
Bayakuya vs Zomari is more about Byakuya's growth as a character. He didn't fight and kill Zomari because of the custom/law between Soul Reaper vs Hollows. He killed Zomari because he hurt Rukia.
A couple things: 1. I like his design in CONCEPT. His base form especially I think is really clean. And the concept of an espada whose power centers around love and control is cool in theory. I just feel like crunch or rushing by Kubo led to a poor execution 2. I like how Byakuya is his opponent, due to how cold and devoid of love he is usually depicted as. This is a good matchup, and we get to see that Byakuya actually does care greatly about Rukia 3. The design of Zomari’s resurreccion is supposed to be based on a sea urchin (which do actually have many eyes all over their body) rather than a pumpkin like the fandom usually likes to call the design. So again, in CONCEPT, it makes sense.
Unohana gets an entire 2 ? Maybe 3 depending on how you count them ? Fights in the whole series. All have been covered by the anime ( in fact, the one that maybe doesn't count is anime original ), and only 1 isn't in a flashback.
Zommari is kinda just ok, but his fight serves as a great demonstration of Byakuya's character development. His line of "you pointed your blade at my pride" when referring to Rukia is one of the reasons he started to become one of my favorite characters.
Zomari might be lackluster himself but there was totally tons of deep stuff in that fight. He was fighting the espada only because he was about to kill Rukia. Something he literally was doing himself not too long ago. Also they bring up the relationship between as soul reapers and hollows. It's no Grimmjow fight or anything but it did it's job as a side fight.
Honestly i think many people overlook Zommaris final speech in the series. It really asks alot of questions that (i think) the narrative was never ready to properly address. Sure byakyua claims hes killing Zommari for rukia (doesnt even say rukia just says "his pride") but in reality hollows and shinigami are very on sight. But in truth hollows are trying to eat trying to live. And they arent permitted to do that at all.
I think Zommari's design is meant to medieval royality, with puffy pants like lower half(idk what dress code and from what exact time and place is that) and ability to control his subjects like a king.
What was your opinion on byakuya using other technique on his Senbonzakura kageyoshi. Like the move he use again Zommari call gokei and make his sword like a circle.
I wouldn’t have remembered Ulquiorra basically calling everyone trash if you hadn’t started this series. But he’s a very memorable character nonetheless. Also can’t believe it’s already been over 2 years since you started this channel
You're not wrong, the Byakuya Zommari fight is definitely the most underwhelming, but that was more because of the lack of depth for Zommari LOL the fight was more about the philosophy of Byakuya than anything. This is the man who was the main antagonist in the SS arc not because he was a bad person, but because he was denying his identity for the sake of his duty and loyalty. When he learned, from Ichigo, that he didn't have to, nor SHOULD he, do that anymore, he started to embrace his true self more. This fight was just to display that fact. He fought Zommari for no other reason than to protect/avenge Rukia. That's a very big shift that needs to be acknowledged.
Zomarri’s aspect of death is “intoxication” so his eyes dilating as he literally flowers into a transformation that makes you experience a uncontrollable urge to carry out movements you don’t want to plays into this for me. He himself is also intoxicated in: His speed His power His ideals And his loyalty to Aizen He has a hard design to love but I think it works for him. Also it’s a flower man Vs a Flower man isn’t that cool?! As kubo reveals these espada you should always keep their aspect of death in the back of your head, it’s a really nice detail that does alot for these characters. I love your content please keep it up! I watched bleach over 5 times and I still look forward to your content❤.
This is one of my favorites fights between the whole manga. This fight, at least on my understanding, is more of a "try" to make power levels consistent again" thing, and one that suceeds. Ichigo, only on his bankai, almost defeated Byakuya on his bankai... but Ichigo was banboozed by the espada 6 on his bankai. So... what chance does Byakuya have invading Hueco Mundo? Even the espada 7 should be a monumental task for him. Simple... put him against the espada 7 but DON'T simply use Byakuya's raw strengh to overpower the espada. Byakuya fought the espada 7, one below the one espada that could beat the hell out of someone at his level without activating his ressurection, and what made Byakuya won was his analitical thinking almost entirely. He was taking hits from Zoomari only to analise how his powers work so he could win by "mechanisms" instead of "sheer strengh". Byakuya's bankai had an absurd advantage over Zoomari's power by a technicality, not by absurd difference in power, and Zoomaris power was rendered useless after Byakuya choose to took hits to know their nature, to realise that he could negate that with kidou, in which he is a master. So, Byakuya won against a espada that, thecnically, he should not be able to beat (or be able to barely beat) just by using his coldness, quick thinking and intelect, making power levels make sense again, because he DIDN'T win by power level alone. I loved this aspect of the fight. By IGNORING power levels and going for technicalities of power effects and shapes, power levels started to make sense again, because Byakuya indeed defeated the espada 7, and yes, it MADE sense. Between those three, Zaraki vs Nnoitra is my favorite and Zoomari vs Byakuya is my second... I really despise the fight of Mayuri Vs Aporro, didn't like it. I also like how Zoomari died in comparison to Aroniero. Aroniero begged for Aizen to appear and help him, while Zoomari just yelled to Aizen to suceed, didn't call for his help. Both of them called for Aizen but Zoomari seemed more... respectable... since he was still convicted of his ideals. Anyway, there are not many BLEACH fights that I like, 90% of them are in SS and Hueco Mundo arc.
The Espada embody aspects of death, Zommari’s fits with the way he is written. But yeah, he’s by no means fleshed out or anything like that. With that said, the Zommari fight is important for Byakuya but it’s not obvious right now. There’s a reason why it feels like that, you will realize this eventually and if you don’t, I’ll point it out for you when you get there.
I think Ichigo should have fought Zommari after fighting grimjow and that it be a close one cause ichigo would kinda underestimate his power and whatnot and slip back to his confident post soul society self but get a wake up call in the fight between him and Zommari(seeing as how Zommari is only #7 and 1 below grimmjow so he would still be difficult. I also think ichigo's more outgoing personality would bring out the better in Zommari or a more extraverted oponnent. I also wonder how someone so calm like Zommari even was found by aizen and how he interacts with the other espada.
That "Janitor" is no joke. That said, he is definitely one of the wisest characters in the series.
ya having the context as to why he would NOPE out of that fight ...

I LOVE this interpretation. 👏

"A man has two reasons as to why he fights. He either fights to protect his life, or he fights to protect his pride."
Very well said
Dang ur right
Great callback
That Janitor probably made the best decision of his life lol
unohana just wholesome and really be looking out for the ppl enemy or not, she really is best girl 😌
Never mess with your healer
We not gonna mention byakuya basically saying "skill issue" to zommari?
Zommari feels like a victim of crunch time and is not gonna be last time it happens on the manga because Jump editorial is brutal but a lot of what happens in his fight will serve a purpose eventually in some form of another. With that said the best part of Zommari is that one end of episode gag where he and Byakuya teleport behind each other over and over.
In the thumbnail to this video he actually looks cool, his design grew on me over the years. Then again my favorite game is Bloodborne
Guys took 1 look at unohana and dipped. Her choosing to heal and not fight them was the best thing they couldve hoped for
My favorite part of this fight is the very end when Byakuya explains that he didn't kill Zommari because he's a hollow or anything like that, but because he aimed his sword at Byakuya's pride, as he's looking at Rukia. It's just such a great character moment that shows that, even if he doesn't really show it much, he REALLY cares about Rukia.
Fun fact: zommari is based off carribean witch doctors
That sentence alone is more interesting than he turned out to be. Would’ve loved to have more of that infused in the character :’(
@@agamotto5354 Also byakuya's line "I am not reaping you because you're a hollow. It's because you aimed your blade at my pride." is one of my favorite lines in the series. I honestly can't wait to see your reaction to my personal favorite Byakuya moment much later on in the series. I wont elaborate further.
I thought his appearance based on sea urchin cause most hollow or espadas based on animals
@@sofarsogood8680 His resurreccion is based off of a barnacle. I was moreso talking about his base because I like to pretend his res doesnt exist
@@agamotto5354 one of the data books also revealed that he used to be a king.
I like how Zommari had a whole phylosophical speech about the nature of their world and Byakuya was just like "Didnt ask+L+ratio"
Byakuya don't give a f about armchair philosophers
Bankai to banzai lol
Bro wake up, another agamoto video
I can't wait when the next one comes
Bro wake up, it's the Byakuya flexing video
I only remember him for the speed contest he had with Byakuya in an after credits scene on one of the episodes, it's fucking hilarious doing the *Teleports behind you* over and over.
it is so cool how you and your wife guessed number 7 correctly!!!!
Actualy, later in the series there will be a piece of information that will make one look at Zomari and everything weird about him from a somewhat more interesting perspective. SPOILER
His "aspect of death" is "intoxication".
Ohhh you are right
"Please let me see Unohana throw down sometime"
-The curse of healers.
I *LOVE* this thought
@@AlexSalvatore00 Oh, right, I can elaborate now!
I think Zommari CHOSE to have greater speed. Ulquiorra talked about how he chose regeneration over pure strength, so when--actually, there's a little more lore. But it was mostly the Ulquiorra thing.
This is also why Zommari is so zealous: Aizen freed him from Immobility. The only reason he could move was thanks to Aizen, so BANZAI!!!
Claimed to be the *Fastest Espada*

Next fight gonna be an amazing fight.
The fast move that byakuya move to finished zommari is called senka. It was technique that derive from shunpo or flash step.
You can just say that it's the move he uses to defeat Ichigo and destroy his borrowed powers, which Renji barely blocked in Soul Society.
I’ll just say this, the janitor is smart af cuz he doesn’t want that smoke…
Unohana not fighting makes sense "in-universe" for the reasons you mentioned
But "Out-of-universe" Kubo is clearly hyping her up as one of those "low key-badasses", by teasing that side of her like in the example here.
It's because you aimed your blade at my pride." is the line that really started a change in him as a character and began his development (his fight with Ichigo was the wake up call)
But lets look at Zommari, I think he has more to him that is missed, his "Intoxication" Aspect of Death is shown to us in a oppsite way, he seems so calm, collected and composed, while Intoxication as a reference to the mechanic of causing one to lose control of their own behavior, is oppsite to being clam and collected as he his.
If the anime did ONE thing right
It is that Zommari somewhat memorable cuz of it, they did a really cool and funny after credits scene between byakuya and zom which ill not be forgetting anytime soon
Hi. I recently discovered your channel and I'm absolutely going to go back and watch your earlier videos. As someone who read Bleach when it originally came out I just wanted to say thanks for letting me enjoy it all over again through the eyes of someone new. 🙂
FWIW, I've read Zommari's release is supposed to be based on a sea urchin, with his power being used to drag his prey to him.
Your analysis on Zommari is spot on when compared to my personal opinion.
Just let the series cook for him and delete the second half of your comment
@@Alex-dh2cx Why should I? I'm not spoiling anything at all, I just presented the facts that have *already* been established. Facts that many newcomers seem to overlook because they are distracted by others.
Unohana not a fighter dude she scared captains in the soul society arc she is terrifying
So maybe a fully healed captain is outside of their pay grade
Also because hollows used to be people some residual knowledge about the rules of war might remain inside and take more brain space now that some of their reason is restored by being an arrancar
Or, you know, Unohana being *[SPOILERS].* Even Aizen knows not to fuck with that.
@@bingo784 shut UPP DAWG
Look at his realese in „a hollow arrancar not a man” way
From what I understand about Zommari's Resurrección, I believe it's meant to be a closed lotus flower that's yet to bloom.
Off 😂
Zomari does try to call out the shinigami for being racists but it doesn't get anywhere
Kenpachi the goat giving his fans exactly the right amount of dopamine we need & crave everytime he is on screen or page 😮💨😭
The Mayuri fight Is great from what i recall The anime episodes covering it also have a funny moment in them.
Bleach do be Bleachin
i would agree on him being a bit weird not to really on the level of the other Espada. i think the idea was instead of him having to move to someone quickly to have an impact, he can just look at them so he is "faster" technically but as a years old fan, i do forget him over and over again and just remember him as the "boring guy" that is one of the few characters i cant even remember his name so yea. the other once are better, i promisse xD
I thought Zimari might evolve to another form since his torso looks like a Flower in a closed stage
Been loving the bleach content! I cant wait to see more!! Keep up the good vibes!! 🔥🔥
Agreed. Thinnest fight with the thinnest antagonist.
Also zommari is lying he’s not the fastest espada he’s just so arrogant that he thinks so. One of the remaining three is the fastest🤫
This is a battle of Pride Vs. Arrogance
I feel you with Zommari, he is so forgettable most of the time I can't ever even remember his number. The only thing I ever really remember him by is his ending speech.
Underrated transformation design. Very alien look with a creepy power
Does alot more for byakuya than the espada

@@thepig6054 lol it's crazy to self centered enough to think that your opinion is universal. You need to go seek professionnal help dude.
I feel like there's 2 different sides to his design like yeah it's not pleasing to look at but it's objectively good as it compliments his resurrección and knowing Kubo There's probably also some symbolism in there too cause if it's not cool looking it has meaning as long as he draws it. Or both.
Exactly, like * * *SPOILER* * *
That famous 🦗resurrection.
We don't get an unohana fight until the final arc when she has no ther option since she is more of a healer, the shinigami also don't like to make their main healer fight but there was no one else to step up and do it that time, but it's pretty cool when we actually see her fight, and she has some very creative ways of using her healing abilities when fighting, there is a reason why she is a captain after all
Can’t wait for you to find out some stuff later in the manga
I for one really like Zommari's first form, the skull earrings and bone mohawk are very cool and the eyes that appear on his forehead are interesting and remind me of a spider. If only Kubo would've kept that 'punk spider' aesthetic.
Zommary vs Byakuya fight is about toxic relationships
The highlight of this fight is really just the one liners Byakuya drops that makes him look so cold
"You aimed your blade at my pride"
"The reason you'll die isn't arrogance. It's simply a difference in skill"
"Even after I've discarded an arm and a leg, we are far from equal"
Unfortunately Zommari's kinda a bozo but I can't wait for the next vid one of my favourite fights from Hueco Mundo
We all know the thing that he said that will prove most hilarious in the future
Yeah if Zommari had more time to actually do things and interact with people I think he could’ve been WAY more interesting.
Seeing Byakuya’s character development though is great. And how quickly he cut his own muscles shows what he’s willing to do. Would’ve liked if this fight was a tad bit longer. Also Zommari questioning the right of Soul reapers could’ve been VERY VERY interesting considering Aizen’s own goals.
Regardless, now with the captains in Hueco Mundo we’re really getting into the meat of things.
Kubo always try to represent every aspect of emotional personalities in Espada and characters he makes so he had to make a worst one too for variety
Oh man... when he discovers.
Bayakuya vs Zomari is more about Byakuya's growth as a character. He didn't fight and kill Zomari because of the custom/law between Soul Reaper vs Hollows. He killed Zomari because he hurt Rukia.
Zommari's speech does remind me of Mahito's speech while he was beating the sh*t out of Itadori
A couple things:
1. I like his design in CONCEPT. His base form especially I think is really clean. And the concept of an espada whose power centers around love and control is cool in theory. I just feel like crunch or rushing by Kubo led to a poor execution
2. I like how Byakuya is his opponent, due to how cold and devoid of love he is usually depicted as. This is a good matchup, and we get to see that Byakuya actually does care greatly about Rukia
I'm not going to spoil anything But I'm glad to see you talking about Unahana, and I'm excited about what the story will reveal to you later about her
Ahh yes the nerd battle is goated
Ahhhh yes the Unohana unfairness 😅 so much to unpack on that
I think Zommari's design is meant to medieval royality, with puffy pants like lower half(idk what dress code and from what exact time and place is that) and ability to control his subjects like a king.
You Don't mess with the healers ! Who'll heal you if you do ??
I take byakuyas fight as two soldiers with no personal meat in the game outside of orders and sides, just doing their jobs.
Zommari feels like one of those characters that make more sense in hindsight but I’m not really sure
Maaaan I cannot wait another week 😭
"Unohana being a healer not a fighter" lol

Just wait for it....
Bro, no spoilers. Please consider removing this.
Ah when you see her fight. Youll understand.
15:58 agamoto foreshadowing haha
Lol. Took me a second.
He himself is also intoxicated in:
His speed
His power
His ideals
And his loyalty to Aizen
He has a hard design to love but I think it works for him.
Bro that's a spoiler innit? I don't think aspects of death were revealed at this point in the story yet.
Looking forward to the next video. Mayuri is one of the best characters in Bleach
Bro wake up,it's another Agamotto videos
