Nice one! I'll say it again; that engine is one of the sweetest, smoothest sounding air-cooleds I've ever heard. Hope you give us some footage of another road-trip in Harry some time.
Update. I fixed mine. It was the switch. The small brass contacts that the switch arm move were dirty. Needed cleaning and a little bend to make contact where needed. Was quite a quick fix. Very satisfying. Thanks again.
That's a really nice quality of life improvement. Can imagine it's so satisfying. What an absolutely gorgeous car. Found out about this channel before Harry had a name.
Awesome Jeff - have exactly the same annoying little problem which I’ve never bothered to deal with but you’ve now got me! Will give it a try over the holidays. Cheers.
Love these videos very informative. Thank you! i didn't realize you could change which side they park on that easily always thought it was a completely different set up.
That looks a pretty simple way of changing the park side. I think many wiper systems operate with an electrical cut out on the motor that has to be bridged when in continuous operation via the wiper switch. Even the old Lucas cable wiper system can I suspect, be changed from left to right park by moving the large plastic cog under its metal plate (inside the motor housing)
11 stiches, yeah, not good. Had a wart cut out under my left eyes, got 4 stiches for that. So, you win! Hope it heals well, else Mrs Jeff is surely looking out for you. Have a nice holiday ahead Jeff, take care!
It is sorta finished now but AC is an upgrade, further work could be just a maintenance work, doesn't matter that it is a project car. As always love your work and I think this is a beautiful car, only thing bothering me - I would like better mesh in bumper and rear hatch in black instead silver but this is just personal taste. Keep up the great work and make videos showing it to the world:)
Did I see the wiper going up slightly before it stopped? The operating arm could be one spline out. Be careful not to get your fingers in there though!
Seems not the problem with your setup, but sometimes, if the outer case of the motor which holds the magnets is put on 180 degrees out (easy enough to do if only 2 screws/bolts), then the wipers will park in the wrong spot because the motor is turning the opposite direction. I did this once after replacing the bushings...
Your fresh air blower box doesn't seem to be draining anywhere, ideally it should drain in the passenger side footwell but hasn't been changed over during the conversion
Analog switches are sometimes simple but some make them so complicated it can be less of a hindrance to swap them for more modern equivalents, I remember opening one from a ford and it shot springs and bearings all over my shed.
@@HomeBuiltByJeff I just tap the lever and do the intermittently manually with the lever for now kind of a drag. Great work on getting the parking to work and getting them to face the other side, the view must be a lot better now. Cheers
You’re happy to fix Harry. I’m chuffed to see him again. Looking forward to his aircon installation.
I had a 1979 911 and, for the 7 years that I owned it, I manually parked the wipers. TH-cam is such a wonderful resource!
I was hoping this would be helpful to someone :D

lol, I just went through the exact same thing on the wipers and I felt the same excitement you did!

Another step forward Jeff. It's amazing how much engineering and precision is involved in even the most mundane of systems.
I have to manually park the wipers on my vintage BMW so thanks for this video! Hope you heal quickly!
It is worth having a go at fixing. I am sure you are aware of how much manually parking them gets old fast ;)
Brother now your head is ok ..
Good running repair tricks...
👨🔧👨🔧👍👍🖤
Nice to see Harry .and constant upgrades and care are what every rebuilt car needs
the heads healing well jeff

Great job mate. I have to tackle this fix soon. Many thanks
Very good nice Job and Harry is Back the best Porsche bulid by Jeff Love it ❤️👍❤️
you see Jeff - that bang on the head did you good :)

buona guarigione e buone feste di natale..
Jeff makes any jobs look fun. Take care of that head so you can dive back into the Alfarrari.
It’s amazing how closed switches etc get so dirty. Good job.
When are we going for a drive in Harry? Do you still have the 996?
カッコよすぎる、私の好きな73年ポルシェカレラRSに似ています。
Apart from the RS having a lightweight body shell and glass, Jeff's car has LOTS of upgrades on the RS.

I had the same issue. My problem was a loose connection on the back of the wiper motor.

The box is not going back in ;)
Result. Such a pain when they don't work as required.
But, we need an introduction to the shop cat.
There are actually 2 of them ;)
Analog switches are sometimes simple but some make them so complicated it can be less of a hindrance to swap them for more modern equivalents, I remember opening one from a ford and it shot springs and bearings all over my shed.
I have had this issue on a few cars and each time just a liberal spray on the wiper motor under the dash with contact cleaner fixes it !
Hi Jeff. Is parking the wipers on the "wrong" side likely to be an ADR issue?
You might find the pattern they leave annoying after a while.
Not going to be anything I would be pulled over for ;)
👍🏻
Awesome scar though :)
Left, right left right, no parking
Shouldn’t the wipers park on the driver side?
My car does not have intermittent wipers, is this something you may do on your Porsche?
I'm not sure if it already has it or not, cheers
It doesn't. Only slow, med, and fast. I may do intermittent down the line, but for now just getting them to park themselves is a huge win :D

Didn’t your doctor recommended any dressing for the wound-I’d be freaked out about infection while working on a car.
Deliberately no dressing.
👍🏻🍺👏
your not done yet NOW you need to install a delay O YA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
have you seen Cortina city his new vid has a pretty good hack for that I am going to try on my 1971 vw bus.
