It is unbelievable how Singapore response & takes care of migrant workers !!! I am always thankful to Singaporean from the bottom of my heart. Singapore is like a dream destination for many #BANGLADESHI migrants to change their livelihood, Singapore always rewarded their hard work there.

It is unfortunate that the taskforce had overlooked the potential outbreak of the migrant workers dorms. A big salute to all our charitable groups, volunteers and medical staff who have done a marvelous job taking care of the migrant workers. It is nice to know that many of these workers in turn, appreciate the kindness and care given to them. Like what one of the workers said, he feels more for his family back home because he knows he is safe here in Singapore.

Lets just extend CB to August just to be sure. FW will be the ball and chain of Singapore once unlock, as their cases is proof the virus is hovering over Singapore. Wuhan only reopen for 1+ month and already considering locking up again.

There was a definite gap in the caring of this minority group, but I’m also glad to see the govt and volunteers stepped in and filled that gap......empathy and compassion goes a long way for our fellow man....

The govt or to be specific MOM in the name of protecting local jobs imposed hefty levy on employers of FW. How much of this levy is distributed to S'porean, to improving FW living conditions, and into the Ministry coffer?

There are basically 2 'levels' of FW here. One level who are employ here to do regular works which S'porean/Msian are not keen to do, and this group get the 'fair' deal. Another group who are brought in specially for project works, and this is the group that are exploited and treated poorly.

Its appalling to know that these foreign workers who have been building us beautiful skyscrapers live in such dilapidated conditions. I am quite disturbed that MOM isn't doing their bit to prevent this. I wonder if they conduct routine checks at these dormitories with their eyes closed?
The entire MOM department in charge of doing routine checks on these dorms should be punished for not doing their jobs properly. Their incompetence has resulted in the CB extension and that has cost SIngapore a phenomenal sum of money. Josephine Teo needs to answer as this happened under her amazing leadership.

All I can say is ..Bravo Singapore !
Unlike Morrison who shooed helpless foreign students after pocketing Aud 20B annually from student fees or Msia whose ministers and govt officers pocket half a foreign workers salaries and not only starve them but leave them to die trying to stinge on testing....Singapore showed heart. And this heart will reap the island nation gratitude from the hearts of men world wide.

Well this has happened, but yes thank you to all unsung heros and ngos out there, taking good care of those migrant workers who contributed a big part in building singapore. They are often forgotten and I hope this will be a lesson to all contractors to stop squeezing so many pple in one room just for profits! and maybe if you guys happened to see them, offer a seat on the bus or train, buy them a bottle of water or even says thank you! they will be happy to hear that! thank you for you, giving me a little red dot where i call home. thank you!

How is it possible that work permit holders can live in rented HDB flat, and the one in this documentary stated that he live with 6 others? The MOM rule that regardless of house/apartment size, the maximum occupants is limited to 6. It is because of this ruling that many employers were forced to house their FW into cramped dormitory approved by MOM.

The title of this video is deceptive. How Singapore rallied to protect its migrant community? I see it as how Singapore failed its migrant community by allowing this catastrophe to happen in the first place. Singapore should have put in place regulations for housing the migrant community that prevented the rapid spread of COVID-19 to begin with; that is how the migrant community would have been protected.
