Fun fact: Shopee, a Singaporean company is one of ecommerce platforms in the Philippines that promotes the proliferation of counterfeit products in the market.

As a Malaysian, I thought this documentary was really informative. However the next time, you make any documentaries which involves undercover operatives, please censor their faces and distort their voices for their personal safety. I was actually quite surprised that the identities of those Indian undercover operatives were not censored. Anyway, keep up the good work on making more documentaries like these.

A lot of my countrymen butthurt by the titles. Don't be. As soon as we start admitting our country has this problem, the sooner we can face it and smash the counterfeiters. Biggest problem is with law enforcement, either they're sleeping on the job or under the counterfeiters manufacturer/seller payroll to close an eye on the problem. Also, our people still prefer counterfeit goods instead of buying original but non-branded/cheaper branded goods.

You might also mention that one of the reasons for counterfeits is the desire of some companies to make supernormal profits. For example, Abercrombie & Fitch takes 9$ sport coats manufactured in Asia and sells them at retail for $500. Doesn’t that incentivize the manufacturers or neighboring manufacturers to sell the same sport coats for $70, be it counterfeits or not?

Step 1, educating buyers how to identify and differentiate fake and real is one way, but there are buyers like the lady who bought fake cosmetics, who CAN CLEARLY know they are buying a fake product, because its so cheap and because they have used it, but still support it and continue buying it, because they feel it works so why not, and save money, now that a different story and need a different plan to combat such mindset.
I know some buyers who just want a cheap way to get drunk from their troubles, and dun mind that $5 cheap alcohol, even if the rice wine contain more industrial alcohol rather than the better quality ones, they say they dun mind it, as they just want to get drunk. and that a risk they are willing to take to save money.

Into 45 minutes, I don't see any mention about education to the public nor did I hear the cultivation of effort to discourage people from making fake due to economical scale not worth it anymore. If everyone can see beyond brand and aimed for quality, it will divert the need to make counterfeit. If continue to persist chasing after enforcement, this war will last forever and will never be won. Narcotics war has been a good example why using force and law doesn't solve the issue and we can see country like Portugal uses different approach on handling drugs and resulted in lower crime pertained from drug related society issues. Good documentary as always from CNAInsider but this episode is a let-down.

There were education to the public but it was mostly ignore by the public. At least from where i lived, people continued to used counterfeit item if the item did not affect their health. Most of the time it doesn't have anything to do with it being branded. It was common. Usually counterfeit item deem acceptable by the people for the branded fashion item, entertainment related item like figurine, album or movie and gadget like smartphone. This is based on my experience here. Of course health related issue will cause anger. Sorry for my bad english.

We got home made face masks in the USA too. Lots of people wear them. Even the masks from the pharmacies like Walgreens, CVS, or Rite Aid are no good. The elastic that goes over your ears does not keep the mask tight. I'm not an expert, but how well can a mask work when the mask is loose and there's a gap all around so the air isn't even going through the mask?
EDIT: Most of the food in the US is not what it claims to be. Almost everything is made from corn oil. Cereals have plastic as filler. This is all 100% legal. Labeling laws are very lax.

It seems like the only determining factor regardless of items (medication or liquor ) is the selling price. What happens if the retailers start selling fake item at original prices? how would the consumer or even the police detect such items? Maybe selling of clothes or accessories are fine, these indigestible items will kill people!
The only way is to educate consumers on the dangers of counterfake goods , as long as consumer keeps buying this items , there will be people making, and i think we all know whos the best at producing conter fake goods. These probably no way of stopping it at its source (factories) those people will kill babies just to make a few bucks

i wonder...seized...they might as well donate them to charity (if non dangerous consumption items), and things like counterfeit cloths, pants, sports attire....or have a massive garage sales of less than 90% discount...and get the return as money , to enhance their consumer operation. The idea here is IF the enforcers are not greedy and corrupted people themselves...
No point burning it. No point destroying it. If it is a bag...at least use a burning stamper, to mark it with enforcer stamp, so that buyer can sell it.
But selling at 90% discount, and protecting the counterfeited brand is essential...so the crime cannot be repeated elsewhere.

For if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
      Galatians 2:20-21
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
      Romans 4:14-15
For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect:
Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.
      Romans 11:6
And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
      Galatians 2:16
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
      Galatians 5:4
Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
      Galatians 3:18-22
For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.
Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.
Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.
But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
      Romans 4:4-5
Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
      Romans 3:27-28
Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
      Galatians 3:10-13
For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
      2 Corinthians 5:21
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Counterfeit goods is a natural economic response to purchase price parity due to currency. A pair of $100 Nike shoes might cost 10% of the disposable income of one country, but it may be 1000% of a person’s monthly salary in another. And when you advertise globally, creating demand, something will fill that supply.
