    Figuring out how to attach the laser to the equipment is a great idea for keeping your grades in check. Alot of site crews ive worked around use the lasers to make sure they are accurately on grade

    back dragging the blade will help smooth things out. Don't take too big of a "bite" with the blade when you're pushing forward. That will cause you to make bigger bumps as the machine tracks level out into the cut. You also have to keep adjusting the blade to make sure it is in contact at the depth you are trying to push. when you feel it digging deeper just lift up

    As a old dozer operator you need to start on a flat spot, drop the blade, now look at the tip of the blade on the leftside. Start forward don't try to dig deeper, just push level. Once you get used to level then you can start digging with the blade, you just want to push a 3 or 4" cut.

      Sounds weird two biggest pieces advice I got from an old school cat about 15 years ago it sounds stupid but he told me #1 you can feel the grade by the seat of your pants in the seat and #2 your hand never stops moving. I've been running a dozer for a lot of years, I prefer the 550k myself because I do a lot of fine grading. John Deere is on a whole other level compared to the other name brands. The best way to learn how to operate any equipment is to put in the seat time. Big props to you my guy, Beefcake Construction LLC is doing big things...

  • @calvinh.8882
    @calvinh.8882 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    To make it smooth with a dozer you have to set the blade and leave it, you can't move the blade up and down while pushing a flat grade because every time you move the blade it moves/changes the ground so then the tracks hit where you moved the blade which causes the dozer to climb or dip which causes the blade to dig in or rise, which causes a wavy unlevel grade. If that makes any sense. lol.

    • @TheFrontyer
      @TheFrontyer 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That wont work when the ground is very uneven as the whole machine would be on unlevel ground.

    • @calvinh.8882
      @calvinh.8882 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheFrontyer Of course you'd have to start by creating a level area for the dozer to start making grade. And it doesn't look the best at first because a dozer isn't kind to anything it contacts and they're also not a finishing machine.
      Flair was sitting on a level area when he started,

    Working in the operators union, I’ve learned back dragging with a dozer is a no no. To keep flat on grade try to really pay attention to your machine with how your moving on ground. It’s small adjustments with the blade that will really help. Also that laser will really help out with keeping you on grade…Great videos! Love the content 😎

    Get you a transit to stick in the dozer then you can only have too worry about are you level. You can also change setting so you can use the pedal to move and all. I haven’t ran a jd but it shouldn’t be much different as far as my d6 or d8. It takes alittle time but y’all where definitely starting off high and pushing too an area that was much lower. So either you need to start in a lower area and push or start way away and take down the higher areas to raise the low spots. It take time too learn but y’all have the hardest part figured out just jump on it and practice. Once you get it figured out you will love it. I clean up a lot with the excavator&d8 and do all my finish grading with a d6. You have the perfect sized machine for finish grading and slicking everything up pretty.

    Running a dozer is a form of art it takes a lot of time and experience. I haven't run one very much, but what I have learned is make a flat spot, and once that's established try not to move your blade up and down.. whether you're pushing a lot of dirt or a little is determined on angling it left or right depending on where you want the dirt to go..

    Articulated dump trucks are awesome to drive, especially with ejector tubs, I drove them for a couple of years and could stack waste nearly 30feet high

    With a bulldozer the smallest movements with the blade make a HUGE difference... Up and down 1 inch at a time bro and it takes a feel to know when to raise and lower the blade..

    Good practice could be going to the desert plot and pushing the surface out to clear some of those rocks so you can plant it.

    My son's buddy recently got a dozer. He went over to measure it to make some mounting brackets for limb risers. The dozer was stuck in a pond that the buddy was trying to fill in. My son tried to extract him with a track hoe but was unable to. My son got in the dozer and the buddy got him unstuck with the excavator. My son finished the shift running the dozer with skills he learned from youtube. He had a blast running a dozer for the first time.

    I had a hard time invisioning the lake. The more it's coming together its getting easier to see.
    Practice makes perfect, you've got this Flair!
    Look forward to seeing you when you got this down pat!
    Merch idea for Beefcake Construction LLC, have the excavator picking up Banjo or one of the animals, lol. I think Banjo would be hilarious, just like the Claw machine!

    Even if it's tough to use it could be a cool/fun thing to use, I grew up with my mom being a construction manager and had a little bobcat (skid loader) in our yard once that we got to mess around with... they're crazy to try as a newbie to construction vehicles
