    My mate Paul made this one, uses a lighter to glue the melting parts together. Works a treat for a quick build. It looks a wee bit different to your onen

    Random thought for the engine bay cover. Two strips of masking tape facing upward with one end stuck inside the bay and the other two ends stuck to the cover. May act as a hinge between the two so you don't need any glue and can hinge the cover back to see the engine.

    '... it's amazing how teeny tiny some of this detail is..' I remember way back in the 70s when the 'cockpit' for 1:72 scale aircraft was an L shape the pilot sat in. If you were lucky the seat would be separate. Internal details have come on immensely since then.

    Another fine job, Gary. Well finished.
    Forgotten fighter? How about Blackburn's ill-fated Firebrand? Now, that is seriously forgotten. Don't even mention it's supposed replacement, the Firecrest. Hard to believe the same company hit the jackpot with the superb Buccaneer.😁

    Hi Gary, fantastic build & looks very good indeed 👍 . Nice livery & decals look like the went down very well. As pointed out the instructions are strange, one reason I purchased original it was the feature of having the canopy open as per box cad images, so surprised it was only closed option. Looking forward to the up & coming group build .

    Nice one Gary; this looks a lovely kit, and you did it proud! 🙂 👍
    I've built a couple of 'Dragon' kits in the dim past, and never really had any problems, looks like under the 'Cyber Hobby' name, they're still quality kits... good to see 🙂

    Lovely looking kit, so glad you keep in the bits where you have to redo bits in a different order to have them fit better.
    It shows us that anyone can make a slight mistake, no point worrying about it, just enjoy the kit.
    Keep up the great work Gary.

    It is a nice looking aircraft and a nice colour combination. I was just thinking that the person(s) who produced the instructions and assembly sequence gave no thought to the painting. Really weird.

    A superb build of an interesting little kit ,Gary . When you mentioned ,Twin Boom , I initially thought of breaking the sound barrier . A sound that not many younger folks will have heard . Sterling job as always .

    Thanks for the great video, once again @garys_stuff. I have a question on how you prepared the canopy, did you polish this before installation or coat it at all? It looked very glossy when you installed it. Hoping to replicate your results. Cheers once again.

    • @garys_stuff
      @garys_stuff  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks David, I didn't polish the canopy - it's how it came in the box! Some canopy masks are better than others for not leaving any reside, but I can normally clean anything off with alcohol. I think one important thing I don't always remember is to make sure the inside is clean before the canopy gets fitted!

    I wonder if Airfix will produce one? Their doing a few new tool aircraft from De Havilland I'm sure this one would be a seller.

    • @garys_stuff

      I would like to think so, they have done a series of post-war FAA jets in 1/48 and the Sea Venom was an important aircraft.

  • @julianmhall
    @julianmhall ปีที่แล้ว +2

    A tip if you didn't see my comment on Facebook about naval aircraft. Should you forget - or need extra - nose weight, make the model with the arrestor hook down, and say you always meant to do that :) That way even if the nose wheel is slightly raised it looks like it's landing :) [Edit: I just realised you won't be able to fake it if the wings are folded.]

  • @emmabird9745
    @emmabird9745 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi Gary, nice build. I enjoyed. I can see why you changed the order of build. If you followed the instructions the gear would be in serious danger of damage.
    I like the tape belts a nice touch.
    Did you have a bit of trouble with the editing, you put the top on and then the top was off? Pity the nose counterweight mass is so big that you couldn't have the hatches open in a diorama, or for that matter the raydome open. Having said all that we didn't use'd to have those options.
    The box art show blue missiles. I suppose the white is right so a drop out with Cyber Hobby.
    As a comment on the DH design, with the wing fold coming so far over they must have given the mechs a headache with crane access for engine changes down below in the hangar deck.
    Incidentally, as a cycle enthusiast, I notice that the weights are really golf weights we use to balance our wheels. Good spot for model weights Gary.

    • @garys_stuff
      @garys_stuff  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sometimes the editing can go a bit awry when I have to re-shoot something or I think the build order is better one way than the actual way I did something! I think if you were to use a better nose weight - like liquid gravity - you might get away with having room for some radar equipment. Or make some electronics boxes out of metal so they serve a dual purpose perhaps? Anyway, one for a better modeller than me!
      The weights were sold to me as cycle balance weights, I find them really good to use because they've got a sticky back and they can be used to slot in gaps.

    • @emmabird9745
      @emmabird9745 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@garys_stuff Hi. I've thought about it a bit more (nose weight) and the solution might be glaringly obvious. Why didn't I think of it before. In a diorama you'll have a base board (hangar deck floor?) so stick the nose wheel down to the deck!
      Not like the airfix Caravelle I had, use the passenger loading ramp (under the tail) as a prop!
      Incidentally those runners on the engine were for air.
      Again great Vid.

  • @julianmhall

    BTW Gary.. I think the 'stubborn bits of paint' under the canopy masks were actually tiny bits of adhesive from the masks.

    Built the old Matchbox 1/32 kit of this jet. A rather odd looking bird, but interesting.
    1/72 scale is too small for me but you did a nice job on it.

  • @markwinsor2766
    @markwinsor2766 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I’ve spotted another flaw with the instructions! I’m building this kit now and STILL forgot to drill out those holes in the wing, even though I watched your vid where you pointed it out 😂. BUT I also noticed in each air intake there are 2 airflow disrupters (?). They are shown in the instructions but no reference is made to the part numbers or putting them in 😡

    hay Gary, lovely model and well built. one question, what do you do with all the models you've built over the years. I've only just restarted building models after a rest due to illness and have already got two display cabinets full after just 2 years plus dumping a few on the family what do you do with them, and know the misses is moaning that they are taking up too much space. so give us a clue, where do you hide them and how do you keep the boss happy? Dr Iain

    • @garys_stuff
      @garys_stuff  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have some fairly big storage boxes, but a lot end up being binned sadly. Just no room for them all. Some I keep if I've particularly enjoyed the build or the subject (still got the Teracruzer and Mace missile!)...
