It's my 3rd day of learning how to code in the game. Thanks for all the tutorials. Yesterday I programmed my atmospherics, on-demand retrieval system from my silos and hydroponics lighting. I've spent many hours today to setup my LArRe code in survival, and to my surprise, my code looks very similar to yours. My only problem was that different plants require different harvesting methods, so that's what I'll be doing tomorrow using what I've learned from this video!
This was kind of what I was thinking. Larre 1 picks all the seeds, then all the food, then deposits food and waits. Larre 2 adds the fertilizer and triggers Larre 1 to plant seeds when it returns to dock.
Could you code Larry to do a racetrack cycle? So it goes alone, plants all the seeds, then returns. If the count of seeds planted equals the number of planters, then go collect fertilizer, place that in each of the planters (or reverse that if it works the other way)? You could use the same count to determine if the planters are all empty, triggering the cycle to repeat then? EDIT: After watching the whole thing, I'm wondering if you have a way to store an array, and have the code record which pots have just been seeded in one cycle, and go through that list of pots with fertilizer right after the seeding. Have the pot numbers removed from thearray after successful fertilizing, so when that array is empty, Larre knows there's no new seedings needing fertilizing? Basically, a step through - if the plant is ready to be harvested, do the harvesting part, come back with seeds, remember that pot just got seeds, then once all the seedings are done, come back with fertilizer. Or, add a sub routine to the seeding one that says "Go seed this pot, now come back and add fertilizer, now forget this pot and move on"?
Hold on, the fact that "sorting class" is 11 on plants with fertilizer, seems a bit like a binary number. Did you check whether it is also 0 on trays with just fertilizer? I suspect it might be something like 10, though I can't check that at the moment
@@Sworn973 Sorry, mate. I was mistaken with my assumption. The "sorting class" seems to specify the type of an object, e.g. ice, ore, appliance, plant, etc.
Mick - dumb question in reference to the chutes. Do you it might be possible to use the chutes to do some sorting for this setup? Also, I was wondering have you try to reposition the chutes somewhere else since? Also, along time ago you did some videos on teaching us on how to program with the MIPS. Do you still have them?
I'm thinking, Could one where the chute comes out, hook it up to the freezer, and from the freezer to the auto cooker, then from the cooker to the auto caner and have the hand to auto put into the locker?. I'm vary interested in this method. Thanks for demonstrating this device.
Could you have a second hydroponics larre on the same rail that just goes around and around with fertiliser and blindly adding fertiliser to all trays and use the station park function to allow it past the harvesting larre? Have been patiently waiting for your next challenge… you mentioned the DLC; perhaps a play through as an alien or robot?
What happens if you plant fertilizer into a pot that already has a plant with fertilizer? Would it work to make a pass checking for seeds and replanting like you’re doing, then make a pass adding fertilizer everywhere, then back to seed checking?
Nothing happens if you try to add fertiliser if it is already there. You could have larre make a fertiliser run after a number of gardening loops. That would work.
random thought/question can the cargo bot do the fertilizer? if they could then you could utilize 2 bots to work together to do all pots. Watches to the end of the video and realizes 🤦

That's quite advanced for 3 days. Well done.
Wow, Mick. You managed to make LArE interesting and entertaining. Now I can't make fun of him anymore.
Rats.
This gives me the idea of auto crafting and auto storage
I’m checking every day for a play through with the new water mechanics!!
Could the cargo larre pickup a filter from a shelf and put it in a filtration unit
Yes
It could even search the shelf to find the right one. Or it could request it from a printer on demand.
my first thought was if it could see the battery and gas canisters inside your suit to make it somehow change them for you while in an airlock
Educative videos like this are Superb ! ❤❤❤
the vacuum larre is a homage at you mick, because of your messy bases ;)
I have played around with all the larres and don some MIPS and I totally love what you can do with them 🎉
Fun times. Next updates are going to be a blast just like this one 😍
Why not have a cargo Larre on the same rail to deal with fertilizer?
This was kind of what I was thinking. Larre 1 picks all the seeds, then all the food, then deposits food and waits. Larre 2 adds the fertilizer and triggers Larre 1 to plant seeds when it returns to dock.
@@brianlurvey8553 Have the cargo larre check after you've harvested a plant, since that's when fertilizer disappears.
Cargo larre cant interact with the hydroponics.

7:55 Cycle to Slot3 for shelf medium, I wonder what that is?

please come back if you ever check it xD
It is not binary. 11 is just for the plant.

@@AnonNopleb yah, was thinking it wouldn't work, but thanks for sharing it xD

(27:15) Awww, but LArRE was going for a wander.
Good👍

Mick, what would you like to see added to the game? I'm excited for the changes to map generation.
Great work, as always. Would having larRe try adding fertilizer blindly mess up the tray?
It wont mess anything up. You could blindly add it eveny now and then just to make sure.

Can this be used to fill in the gaps between auto crafting, auto smelting, and auto mineing?
Why is the larre cannot drop items to the chute bin?

Since larre manages the roll-over past the last station, just load its setting into you counter after its done moving.
That would work too.
