Whoa! The knee really hit home! I’m back in the saddle after many years off, my lower leg is all over the place and I believe it’s me using my knees to hang on! Thank you for this video!

This was so helpful, thank you! I've looked for years for something to help me with my "swinging lower leg at the 2-point" (not over jumps or sitting canter) and this is the first video (or anything for that matter) that I've seen that I think addresses what's going on! Now I see that when I go into 2-point, I've been putting "all" my weight in my heel, which is what I thought I was supposed to be doing (and I'm an adult rider, and we adults tend to try just a little too hard, lol), and my leg always swings back and forth with my heel going the deepest on the third beat (inside foreleg hitting the ground). I also have a horse that's hard to keep in front of the leg, so I'm guilty of "using my whole body", as you said, to try to encourage him forward. I'll be trying out your tips tomorrow. Fingers crossed! Thanks again!

Oh yay!!!! I’m so glad it helped. It’s definitely confusing when you’re told to keep your heel down, really just keep it below your toe and not bearing all of your weight. Hopefully it works while riding- and get that lazy pony forward!!!

Okay, I have one leg that stays perfectly (right) and the other slightly swings back (left). I don't grip with the knee, but I think it is the whole hip moving instead as the heel is down, but the leg is in the canter depart position from take off to the apex of the jump. I don't fall forward on landing, but the same leg swings forward. I think I do try to keep that heel down more than I should. Thank you for this.

Very helpful!! Do you have a training video on maintaining a light seat, not the two-point?

Is getting "in front of the leg" the same as "powering over?"

I’m not sure what you mean by powering over... having them in front of your leg is easiest to tell when you add a little bit of leg, do they immediately respond by going more forward? And do they feel like they would keep taking you forward even if your leg wasn’t there.
