hehe I think it's a cultural thing - when I have good fresh fish, I cut large filet strips give them a nice marinade for 1hr (only in the last 10 minutes do I add citrus. to not overburn it) and eat them like steak with knife and fork.
disclaimer: even the best fish needs a good long deep freeze, and then 24 hours defrost in the fridge. some of the best tasting fish is naturally parasite prone

@@dOVERanalyst on one hand India is not known for the best food storage hygiene/cooling chain, but when it's fully cooked the parasites are dead, anyway.
Now if it came to never-frozen fish from the Indian ocean, I would never eat it raw. If you get fish from any other ocean, I am over 99% sure, that it has been deep-frozen in transport, and so killing the parasites.
Fresh river fish, depending on location and species could or could not be safe to eat raw.
But bottom point - cooked fish is not a problem.

@@mishXY We have the Arabian sea and the Bay of Bengal as our major source of fish.
Fun fact: Yours truly RJ in Mumbai, stays in both sides of India, exact opposite two seas. So, I know, that we ALWAYS eat local fish. Fish is never transported too far, ya know. (Not talking exports here).
But the local Indians in Mumbai, for example, would eat the fish available there. And the ones in the other side, Bhubaneswar would eat what's available here.
It's caught and sold the exact same day and usually consumed completely on the exact same day.
We have a thing of smell of non veg in our cultures. No one would eat it raw. Any meat.
But, we on the eastern side do steam fish.
But what I was trying to say is, getting freshly cut meat or fresh fish and storing is huge cultural shock to me.

I would never drown salmon that beautiful in mayonnaise and super salty fish sauce.
I would do sesame oil with soy sauce or tamari, and freshly diced ginger root, maybe a little chili flake and grape seed oil and some sliced threads of dry sheet nori.
I realize she was trying to do something with common cupboard ingredients, but if you have fish sauce, you probably have toasted sesame oil, too.
I would simply forgo the mayo especially & just use quality tamari for the "salt" element.
Loved everything else about this recipe.

Yes!!! My mom and I were watching the great British bake off and she quickly became our favorite. We’ve already got one of her cookbooks lol 😅

I just use the one cup rice one cup water method when I cook my rice and it never fails :)

I do 1 1/2 to 1 cup but yeah, what is it with this whole finger/wooden spoon/chopstick thing? Measuring cups are super cheap and not everyone has the same size pot. I’m going to try your 1:1 ratio and see if it’s even better. Also, why doesn’t she season her sushi rice?

I’m inspired by your ‘Poke Bowl’ so my family’s dinner today is Poke Bowl. After a hard work, I deserve a light work in my kitchen. Thanks. It is such an inspiration.

Please don't follow this version as someone whose born and raised in Hawaii I like that she is trying but she is making a mainland Poke Bowl so I suggest you Google Foodland Poke Bowl that is what our Poke Bowls actually look like.
