There’s three channels I watch here who do excellent work with oil pastels named Misako , Dahn Art Studio, and Yolanda Blazquez, check them out if you want to see oil pastels being pushed to their full potential.
I suck at portraits but am great at perspective and landscape. I love sennelier and have narrowed down to their sets for my preferences. I have to give portraits a try again this time with sennelier. The only issue is price of the pastels, they are definetly on the pricier but worth it side. Beautiful work by the way
maybe profiles are also challenging (they sure are for me) because a) we rarely see ourselves that way (because its very exhausting in a mirror) and b) we don't usually look at others this way! at least when we have conversations with others (which is probably when you pay most attention to a persons face) we face each other!!
What I appreciated is how to applied your colors in patterns. Rarely blending until the end. And the only sparingly. Nicely done. Even though this is a year late. Thanks
Hey Emily! I remember you saying you went to OCAD in Toronto and I was hoping you could make a video about that. What was the portfolio you submitted, what program did you apply and get in to, how was the university, the classes, the teachers etc. I would really appreciate it!
If you liked using oil pastels you should def use the Caran d’Ache neocolor oil pastels, I recommend getting neoucolor ll bc I heard they’re more creamy then neoucolor l and neoucolor ll are water soluble, meaning if you add water they’re like watercolors! I hope that if you do get the Caran d’Ache oil pastels that you make a review on them, and if you do ill def watch it! ❤❤
Such an expressive portrait! One of the best yet. Love the richness of those colors. Thanks as always for using my music! Can't wait to see what's next ✨️
Thank you so much for this video!!! Your work is absolutely beautiful and inspired me to do some oil pastel portraits even though I don’t have much experience. Thank you!!
really love this one! for me the hardest thing about oil pastels is knowing when it's time to stop blending 😬 btw did you use any oil to blend some parts or just fingers/cotton buds?
Thank you so much ❤️ I completely agree with you about the blending part, it is so easy to get carried away with blending! 😅 I didn't use any oils for blending, I didn't feel the need to!
portraits in profile and hands are my worst artistic nightmare lol the colors are absolutely beautiful and I loved the ones you picked for your piece, it looks amazing! great job, as always!
I want all the greens and blues! And I've done that thi g of standing in fro the of paints/colours and just imagining having g that many beautiful colours to use. They look incredible. I think profile is hard because there isn't anything to anchor the fetuses to and I make it look a bit flat. Love the finished piece ❤
Right?! The greens and blues are so lovely, Sennelier really nailed those hues! I also spent a good deal of time just staring at all of the colours with excitement 😅 I think you're right about the profile, there are more subtleties that need to be made correct in order for the portrait to look right as a whole. Thanks for your lovely comment as always Liza! ❤️

There's something so satisfying about watching you fill out those colour swatches You make any medium you use look easy!!
Thank you so much! The colour swatches are my favourite part! 😄💗

Очень симпатично.... Прекрасное соединение контрастов. Маслянная пастель это чудо материал для различных художественных техник .🌹❣️🙏

I have a thing for Brown Madder, Mars Orange & Lake Alizarine Violet. The earth tones range is fantastic.
