Hi, philosophy major here, just correcting a minor mistake in the script: Straton of Sigeria did not exist. He was made up for The Talos Principle as a way of better addressing the intended themes without being so intrinsically tied to an actual real life person’s beliefs. His death story is similar to Socrates’ though. Just a correction for those interested! Fantastic game and narrative.
Man, shout out to all reviewers of this game. It's cases like this one, where you're playing and beating this before 10s of videos with guides and solutions are available that make me appreciate you a lot! :)
Probably my favorite game of all time. One of the very few that feels like its not just fun, but it also challenges your perception of the world and makes you think. A masterpiece
almost refreshing to hear such an enthusiastic review. Instant buy for me after part 1, the great demo for 2, and the reviews. And great graphics with no bugs mentioned in the reviews.
@@hulki-orrahave been playing it for around 20 hours without any crashes. They have continued to update it within the last week even and there's also been GPU driver updates. Both of which probably alleviated those issues. A driver update also significantly improved performance for me (from barely reaching 60 with high settings and no chance of stable performance at ultra to a stable 60 with ultra)
This game is excellent, just the right amount of difficulty to keep me interested without getting frustrated, unlike the first game which pushed things a bit too far sometimes, although it's still a masterpiece of a puzzle game. If you love well crafted puzzle games, this is certainly one to buy 😁
The monument star puzzles really mostly aren't complicated. There's three types of them. 1. Find a particle cloud and follow it back to the monument (theres a light beam from the monument indicating the general direction its in) 2. Look at the map on the monument and go to the places shown on it to solve minor puzzles 3. Connect a laser from a puzzle to the statue While that means there technically is 3x the variety to star puzzles as there was in talos 1, and in general it is less random searching than talos 1 was, it also means no more secret solutions to normal puzzles that reveal a star which is kindof sad since those were my favourite type of stars in talos 1
Anyone that plays alot of different genres has probably had a difficult time keeping up this year. My backlog is becoming a book due to the relentless amount of great games.
The best thing about the intro is that the exact scenario is one of the messages you can find scattered throughout the first game, where it says exactly this: the power of the subconscious and how it seemingly thinks for you
Babylon 5 was mentioned in the first game, and now the reviewer quotes Tennyson - the favorite poet of one Cmdr. Jeffrey Sinclair, and the quote itself is spoken by Captain John Sheridan. Nice connection...
Played through it but without doing the gold puzzles. Great fun, and the final puzzle was incredible, but thought Talos 1 was better overall ... but might change opinion after tackling the gold.
Addendum. Someone in Croteam really loves Babylon 5. This time No.3 quotes Santayana "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it", and this quote was cited by one Lt.Commander Ivanova in episode "Infection" S01E04 (IIRC). Upd. And of course, one of the chapters is named "A Voice in the Wilderness" - a two-part episode from season one of B5.

This is why education is important.
glad that the sequel turned out great. loved the 1st game, cant wait to download and play this one tonight
Not only we had a lot of games in 2023, but the vast majority of them didn't disappoint. What a year guys, one for the gaming history books.
Not really
Absolutely. Some real bangers that overdelivered....and starfield.
@RanielEber the world doesnt revolve around your feelings kid. This yr has been the best yr in gaming. Highly scored games and loved by many

There's some framerate issues.
He literally complained about frequent crashes near the end, I'll consider them bugs. I'll buy it too but I'll wait a bit for some patches.
The demo did not crash for me in 4hours. Crashes are usually the first bugs to be patched. But sure annoying for the affected@@hulki-orra

Great to see that Croteam brought this back
Who would have thought the Serious Sam devs would go on to make two highly successful philosophy based puzzle games?
They intend for it to be a trilogy. So there's still one more to come 😄
thankfully they distanced themselves from serious sam to make an actual good game
i'm amazed Portal didn't inspire more games like Talos Principle series.
They're probably very hard to make, but they are out there. Qube 1 & 2, Superliminal, Quantum Conundrum to name a few
Puzzle games are just not popular with mainstream gamers. Requiring to be humble and self reflective is challenging to most.

I'm half way through the game and haven't had any crashes. Loving every minute of it. It's so damn beautiful.
First game highly underrated, so eager to try the sequel.

This game feels much easier comparing to the first one. Everything is kind of more obvious than the first game imho and yes no crazy alternatives

Another review that basically praises it the whole time but lands on an 8, from the review itself it sounded like it was setting up a 9.
Do you really give credit to IGN and ratings in general ?...
Love the nod to portal in the blue and orange colour choices
Deserves a 9.
I'm sure it would have but they gotta fix the crashes.
@@JFinns No crashes on console. Does that make it a 9 on console?
A 10 for me!
Except for some difficulty spikes and stability (at the moment), your score of 8 seem low based upon how otherwise effusively you praised the game....
Not AAA, won't get a higher score from ign

This is a solid 10 in my book. Loved the first game and this one is just better in many ways. Less complicated but feels like an upgrade
First Alan Wake 2, now Talos Principle 2... I'm gonna have to take a couple of weeks off guys 😅
and robocop as well
Loving it so far. Few hours in. Great ambient music too
Note: Straton of Stageira might not be a "real-world philosopher".

Let this company make Portal 3.
They already made better.
The talos principle is a better series
Comments on this video feels like reading the social media messages inside the game.
Really needs a 2 player co-op mode (as does its predecessor), a lot of portal fans would pick this up immeadiately
Never expected a sequel and have not considered one would be made
However, it's a fantastic game
Can’t wait to get my hands on this baby. Absolutely loved the first game!

Its actually a 10 if you think about the price and the last games the rated with 8
Is that david Tennant's voice and a damn sonic screwdriver?! Yes please.
A great joke from the movie "Cast away", laughed for a very long time, very aptly!

Kinda sad how Croteam puts more effort on Talos than Serious Sam.
Great review!
Guys, well have to tell our kids about 2023
Great review, thanks ‼️❤
Hey look this game got better score then call of duty and Starfield
You lost me at "puzzles" can't stand games with puzzles in them. i'm too dumb. But thanks for the review sir.
Would be interesting to know what books it made the reviewer want to read…
The games philosophical narrative suggests deep themes from many Nicholas Sparks books. Perhaps that's what he means?
Best around for the last 10 years !
Talos Principle my religion
Devolver, bring this damn thing to PSVR2!!! ❤❤
this is not a review, but a resume.

The description of the puzzle reminds me of Portal and BoTW.
You can def see the portal influence big time; and that, my friends, is certainly not a bad thing
this is what video games are meant to be
New serious sam game when
Most likely after they do Serious Sam 4,Siberian Mayhem and Talos Principle 2 all in VR
Usually, turning off vsync avoid the crashes.
The Game remidns me alot of of Myst and Portal Games
Serious sam in Egypt
People should just stop using IGN instead of only complaining.
Is there a way to block IGN on YT?
8/10
Is this game only digital ? I'm on PS5
This one is running on ue5
Graphics so intense it won’t play Xbox 1 x?smh.
Not a single crash on ps5. Strange
