Thats an interesting thing because, I think for Alan the metaphore of "breaking the fog" is like clearing his mind to write a novel, but in this case the Entity took that metaphore literally.

The great thing about this is, technically speaking, it can in a way be canon. Just another nightmarish dimension he's written himself into. Opening more doors. Exploring ways to escape the dark place.
And arguably
I'd imagine the entity would like Alan
Including the number of 'draft versions' he leaves behind in its realm
Not even going into it and the darkness likely talking shop or equivalent in the background
Or maybe the entity and the darkness are the same, only with different manifestations.
How would the Entity do up against the Board?
While you're at it, the Fog could be considered an AWE, from Control. Everything is connected...

I like that they still care about the original lore from the early days of Dead by Daylight and showcase that in this trailer - where a new victim goes through the fog and gets transported into a realm like they have in the past, there is something so cool about it.
True also helps that the fog is actually a thing in alan wake so it makes complete sense especially since it's a dark place aswell.

Brilliant trailer, especially for this character. No jumpscares, just great build-up as a good horror should do.
I just hope that Alan’s outfit from the 1st game is in the collection in the store?

I like how the teaser was just a flashlight and everyone knew (and was correct)
It wasn't just a flashlight tho, the light was shining on the bloody manuscript, the text was in a typewriter font, the liner for the pages were overlaid in the background, and the Cult of the Tree symbol may have been in the center of flashlight
I also saw a comment that someone took the light changing and turned it into morse code and it came back with ALANW... no clue how true that is, but wouldn't put it past BHVR @@TheCrimsonEpilogue

The Alan Wake games were amazing
Awesome trailer. And perfect addition. But can't help but think there's a missed opportunity to add Scratch as a killer. Could have some cool mechanics and skill tree.
Passive unlockable for doppelganger, where scratch doesn't appear as a killer if Alan is in the session and is outside of a certain distance.
Takes extra damage from light sources.
Hooking survivors and sabotaging generators generates darkness charges. Darkness charges can act as a shield, or can be expended for bursts of speed

I actually think original DbD was heavily inspired by the first Alan Wake game. Many many similarities: The importance of bringing light to fight the Dark Presence (like doing gens to "fight" the Entity), finding and repairing broken generators (they even had "skill-checks" to repair them), the flashlight and the way you could aim with it to burn away the darkness from enemies (like blinding killers or burning old Wraith and Nurse). It even had sections where you had to look out for actual bear traps scattered across the woods, and you could kinda reveal them with your flashlight by making them sparkle for a second.
The levels, buildings, and even the atmosphere in general were very much alike as well, before all the map reworks and graphical updates in DbD...
The original developers most likely took inspiration from Alan Wake when making DBD.

I haven’t played DBD in years, but I’m a huge fan of Alan Wake. I would have loved to see a killer like ‘The Scratch’ or ‘The Presence,’ but this is still enough to get me to play again!

@Mowingthefrontlawn I saw a list that showed future chapters and it shows alan we see in this trailer and then we see scratch in front of him donning the khavella knights leather jacket from when scratch shows in 2, so he'll eventually touch down regardless I'm happy to see alan!

One thing that's really cool is that if you look at this trailer and Alan Wake II, it's like they are connected somehow, and this is just another story. I really love this
I’ve been holding out hope for an Alan Wake chapter ever since DBD first came out. I’m so excited that it’s finally coming! It’s been awhile since I played DBD, but now I have a god excuse to jump back in. I hope this chapter ends up creating new Remedy fans!
Also glad they are having Matthew Porretta voice him - though I wouldn’t be surprised if that was a requirement from Remedy for licensing! Porretta and Villi truly are the heart and soul of the character and no substitute would have ever sufficed.
I both dread and anticipate whatever neat flashlight perk we’ll get with Alan Wake.

Champion Of Light. When shining a flashlight, you gain 50% haste, and blinding a killer with it gives them 20% hindered for 5 seconds.

You gotta learn the mechanics of each and every killer one by one- which will happen naturally with the games you play- until you know everything- expect to lose
If you do try it, remember you're a bigger person than the 12 year old yelling slurs in endgame chat :)
-and calmly leave without talking to them, or say gg and leave if they are trying to antagonize you
The game is really fun but grinding for characters sucks and a lot of good perks are only paid but other then that it's a fun game if you can deal with bad teammates or survivors bullying you

It's the same game
The first time I played Alan Wake was on Xbox360 way back in 2010. I fell in love with the character, story, and the horror atmosphere. The second game is out and now Alan coming to DBD. I'm just filled with joy. I've been wanting Alan to come to the game for ages! Thank you for bringing Alan to the game! Alan will be my new main! ❤

God I love this trailer so so much!! They way you see both Jakes and Alans pov in the beginning, how it suddenly fully centers on Alan and the gitterish cuts stop completly, the slow reveal of the forrest, the generator and finally jakes corpse from the groundd implying that he was killed seconds after completing the gen because of the mistake he made earlier and how every piece of information adds to the athmosphere and the small but super tight "story" of the trailer..! It's so good godamm!!
I never played his games before but I’m genuinely interested on his character now! He seems really cool, might give it a go.

@@24IppoAll Remedy games are canon in the same universe. Max Payne is the protagonist of Alan Wake books (althought Remedy can't use the Max Payne name, but do a Lot of references), also, that Xbox exclusive (i forgot the name) is mentioned in Control.
But playing Control first can mess your experience on Alan Wake 1. Just Play Alan Wake, Control (+DLC) and Alan Wake 2.

Something has finally brought me back to enter the fog 👌🏼
DBD could be another of the stories that Alan Wake wrote in his multiple attempts to escape the Dark Place.
In a way, it fits.
Kind of like American Nightmare; Technically canon, but ultimately fails to get out of the Dark Place.
This is awesome! I hope we get the American Nightmare outfit and his look from the 1st game as well. This marks the first time we have a Stephen King like author character. The lore also fits in really well with Dead by Daylight. I hope we also get The Evil Within some day.

Wow, what a great trailer! And choosing Alan wake for a new survivor is both interesting and kinda made sense, so I’m not mad about the outcome. Can’t wait to see what his perks are!
His perks have already been announced. He has a boon that highlights all gens and chests while near it that also boosts totem action speed map wide, a flashlight perk that slows the killer after blinding them, and a perk that increases the number of skill checks while injured, but their placement is random like Madness II.

These animations are better than 70% of my dbd matches. But the other 30% are some of the most fun and excitement I’ve ever had

It's actually got some parallels. Like how the Dark Presence is similar to the Entity in that they're both eldritch entities that can't really be killed.

It's wild that I only JUST finished playing the first game and im partway through the second, because this is **such a perfect** choice for a character for DbD
Would be a cool feature, if survivors could find handwritings to use against new killer: they would have to change the story, for example : add 2 pallets but killer downs survs with one hit for 60sec or spawn half broken toolbox but block one gen for 30 sec

@@AlmightyPolarBear Yes I did think about that. I was thinking a damaged version of his Dead Space 2 suit would work since it's slimmer and other than his DS1 look, a lot of people recognize that one. Maybe as an extra outfit he can wear the patient gown he wore at the beginning of DS2.

Alan Wake Players know that this survivor is the only one who makes actual sense being put into the game. I mean if you think about it the "Realms" are basically "The Dark Place", also Alan Wake uses Flashlights to fight the Nightmares.
Also the plot about him trying to escape the dark place, like hello? He literally is meant to be in the game.
Alan is not the only one who makes sense. like in his stories other people were pull to the Dark Place even before him.
some how he turned into the master and the puppet in the way. that is why he will never escape. Remember in the lore of DBD the entity appears to the killers making deals with them to go to the entities realm. like ''The Spirit'' Read her info and you'll see that when her father killed her she hear a voice coming from the black fog. making a deal with her.

oh also. Nicolas Cage was doing a casting for a new movie in a strange island where he was acting. he started saying the weird words on the scrip while touching a rock. and right after black fog come out of this rock embracing him sending him to the entities realm.
Alan Wake has no idea he's going to the entity's realm, as far as he knows, it's just the dark place again
This is awesome. Here’s an idea, since survivors are typically new perks, how about possibly adding new maps with them
That is a good idea. Maybe adding minor stat perks each survivor gets like 2% increased healing speed. 10% quieter in lockers.

Of all the 3rd party licenses, Alan Wake fits into DBD's canon the absolute best. Kind of sad to see so many people haven't played any of the Alan Wake games.

Started to play alan Wake 1 remastered, and all ready, I can see why this is such a good game. I can't wait to play the 2nd!
Bare in mind they're 2 completely different games in terms of gameplay and pacing.
But if the story and narrative did manage to "hook" you, despite the differences in gameplay, when you get to the sequel you'll be in for a treat then 😉I also recommend Quantum Break and Control to have a fully understanding of the Remedy Connected Universe they are trying to build cuz in AW II there's all sorts of references to those games too

I was thinking that since scratch can inhabit people, it could be a multiple form killer like legion. Functionally the same every time but its appearance is always one of the survivors with the crazy dark aura thing around them so you cant mistake them for an actual survivor
Honestly I think we are entering peak dead by daylight in these past years. Like this year or next year I can only see good things for this game. We have three amazing licenses. The bug fixes have been on par they've been listening to us they've been doing everything correctly. Like God this game I'm so glad I stuck with it over these years!!! Dead by daylight for the win I loved dead by daylight so much!!!

Alan Wake doesn't even play like Resident Evil, particularly in the first game even though the sequel does still do it's own thing for a good bit; It's a very different tone, style, and gameplay loop.
