    I’ve got a real soft spot for these. I detailed my 47606 the same way and gave it a repaint in unlined BR black when I was a teenager. I also remotored it with an Airfix 1001 5-pole motor. 50 years on it’s still a trooper!

      I've heard those Airfix motors - when you can find one - are worth the effort in terms of upgraded slow speed performance and pulling power - is that right?

      @@dj_efk yes makes a big difference. A lot quieter too. Not knocking the XO3/4 of course - still a great motor !

    In one of my earlier comments, I commented about the magnets losing power when the armature is removed without a keeper. This is the kind of magnet I mentioned as a "bar magnet."
