I had a guest at the car dealership I was worknig at make fun of my stutter and the girls behind the counter with me were ready to tackle him for it and I was one of their nicest employees (was because I don't work there anymore, not because I became a bitch :P)
I always thought it hilarious that Jessica refers to her hotel as Hotel that I work at, but just noticed in the captions that she'd added a trademark to it, which puts the joke over the top.
I have worked at a hotel and several motels, and let me tell you that skit regarding 714... made me smile, because a front desk clerk will jump through hoops of all kinds to get revenge on an "Special" guest like that... 😆
Entitled Jerk was my favorite one from last year!!! I'm not in the hotel industry but I am in customer service and would love to put people like that in their place the way you did!
I just want to say how much I appreciate that your videos have built in subtitles, I have a pretty bad hearing impairment and hearing aids only go so far, and a lot of youtube creators don't bother adding captions to their content So thank you 🙂
I'm also one of those people who wish more creators would add captions to their content! Not only is it great for those with hearing impairments, but also there are times when you simply can't have the volume up for whatever reason. I want my content to be as inclusive as possible! 🥰🥰
@@jessicavanelThere is also an issue with not everyone having English as their mother tongue, is used to different dialects, etc... And most don't have such a crisp pronunciation and sound as you. You're sound is already one of the best in my shorts, but having subs makes them even better. Man, I would love to tag a few creators...
I was a manager at a hotel in Miami for over 10 years and I could write a book with all the stories I had with guests, but the one I remember the most is this guy who called PBX literally screaming at every single one of my staff that he better talked to a manager or he was going to take legal action. When I got to the phone, besides cursing at me for what felt like an eternity and telling me what a piece of shit the hotel was, he told me he had been cooking a turkey in the oven for over 45 minutes (it was Thanksgiving) and that the turkey was still not done. I assured him I'd sent out our maintenance manager to take care of the problem and finally hung up. About 20 minutes later I get a call from the maintenance manager laughing his ass off telling me that the guest had put the turkey in the dishwasher instead of the oven and had been running it over and over. Since they didn't call to apologize for being rude to my staff, I gave them a "courtesy call" asking if the problem had been fixed. They hung up on me, lol. Most satisfying courtesy call I ever made.
Cannot blame the maintenance guy for laughing. If you can't tell the difference between the oven and the dishwasher, you shouldn't be using either appliance. Also, PLEASE tell me you put that jerk of a guest on the do not sell list as punishment for cussing out everyone for his own stupidity.
People expect every hotel to be like the infinite hotel paradox. "You're sold out? Well just move every guest to room n+1 and put me in room 1! I don't understand what's so difficult about that!"
I don't work in the hotel industry, but worked several kinds of customer service jobs and trust me... it really does happen. At first I hoped for people like the Jerk to get some Karma for it. The first time my favorite co-worker was brought to tears, that's the day I became Karma. And every time I left a job, I also left clear instructions on how to deal with people of this kind.
@@autumnleaves4879😊👍 Bless you, Autumn! How I wish I could have worked with you, or even after you. Being thrown into the viper pit first day as a newbie is absolutely traumatizing.
As a night auditor when people come asking about a room and I tell them we sold out they always try to argue "are you sure your sold out" after i've said it 5 times. 😅
Somewhere in Japan... Man and woman: We want two rooms. Employee: Sorry, only one room left. Man: Alright, we'd take it. (And grabbed the room key) As they're going up, another couple came also needed two rooms. Employee: Sorry, only one room left. The first man heard this and then smiled to himself.... It was Logan... The Wolverine! 😆😆😆😆😆
I remember showing up at a motel for my reserved room for the night. They were booked up, and there was very angry line of complaining people who couldn't get a room. The man was SO RELIEVED by the time he got to me & I had a reservation.
"Did i scare you a little bit?" "A little bit, yes" "Good." I actually got slightly scared frim this part and the face after the "good" was everything lol
It literally happenned to me. A guest With friends and family discount yelled at me, flipped me off and was and threw a cable at my face and was trying to film all of that. Thank god my managers did their magic and that person is blacklisted from the property, and the employee and him lost all the privileges.
Last summer I had to spend quite a bit of time in hotels because my AC was not only dead, the repair people were just not fixing it. Ended up having to replace the system after a repairman literally blew it up. As long as I treated people decently and tipped well, I was treated quite well in these hotels. Some of them even went out of their way to help me. I always told them I appreciated them and tipped pretty well. I don’t understand these people who mistreat staff anywhere
I have worked in customer service for a long time and the best thing I can come up with is that these are people who have nothing going on in their lives and just wanna have a tiny bit of power and authority
Jessica is so good at playing the different parts that I often find myself getting mad at the people giving her a hard time - even though they are all her....
As a traveler I normally go on road trips regularly. Sometimes when summer comes around, I Fly somewhere with my parents to go somewhere in the Caribbean.
I always book the room I want, then if I get upgraded it’s a nice surprise. Jessica is an angel, scary when mad though lol. Moral of the entitled jerk story: don’t be a jerk to the hotel staff or you will definitely regret it in more ways than one.
Delt with the last guy in the past. My GM had us physically remove him from our property. We did so swiftly and he was terminated from his property. Actually had several different people come to our property on associate rates and cause havoc. 99% were unemployed on returning to their hotel. Only one tried the rewards membership thing. Terminated from employment and rewards. If you didn’t come to our hotel right, well we had a reputation for ending bad associate careers.
The second skit (lady wearing yellow dress) had to come down to ask about the note slipped under her door. Clearly she cannot read!! Because she needed the front test to tell her what the note said. .
I like the way Jess does the rude entitled guest if we call them that, because she has have had to to a lot of experience with those people 😀 good job! Jessica, we love you!
5:35 - I remember posting a comment to this tune when you debuted this sketch, but I'm going to repeat it: "If your justice b-ner lasts more than four hours, please consult your physician..." It always rules when I get to lower the boom on someone who's been mean to my valued colleagues. Don't mess with my people! 👿
Fire alarm note person followup sketch idea: Call at note-sticking time. "But ma'am, last time we tried to tell you via note, you told us to call and leave a voicemail?"
I have more questions abour Entitled Jerk! Does that mean he now has to pay extra for the services he was getting? Is he going to be fined by the rewards people for everytime he's used it? Also I think its fair to say that his boss will be being harsh on him next time! I can't believe an employee would be so horrible to an employee, surely he knows what its like to have horrible customers?
It means that he will probably loose his employee hotel discount privileges and also all the hotel points that he has been earning. He will no longer have access to the elite status at the hotels where he has been staying. He might get fired for abusing the privileges. If it were my old company, he would get the other employees' privileges reduced or eliminated.
Most likely the investigation by Reward Member Services will result in a long bill of fraudulent use of discounted services that he will have to pay for with extra penalties ion addition to his account being suspended.
I'm always amazed with how you make every career feel real. The manager is completely different from Jess and the customers. You should start thinking about an acting job.
I worked for a hotel that I was doing both check in and night audit now we were overbooked at capacity and the manager still allowed for more new reservations to come in while running the audit I had arrivals and NO available rooms and was berated nonstop the manager said it’s late you figure it out; safe to say after the shift from hell I quit
'What about a room with two queen's?' 'How did you know my brother and his husband were staying here tonight?' (Couldn't resist, just my British sence of humour)
I got a question for you. In your skits, generally the managers are good to the staff and quite competent at their job. Have you in your career ever come across an incompetent manager? If so how’s that like
I'm not related with the hotels industry, but yes with the one of fast food, and I wouldn't think of being rude to another clerk, that'd be disgusting.
Fun fact. Post covid, Marriott has changed the policy in regards to employee rate and membership - you now can stay on employee rate AND earn points and nights on it, and use Elite benefits if you have Elite status. The requirement to behave still absolutely applies in this case
As far fetched as some of these skits may seem, I used to work at a call center for a major international hotel chain for over 10 years. The belligerence, lunacy, and idiocy of some of the guests were astounding.
