Hi Levy. I would just like to say that I have been watching you for almost a year now and I really love your content. It makes my day so much better to go on TH-cam and see that you just posted a new video. You are doing a great job and I will be watching as long as you are posting. I hope you and your family are well.

I don't know what the guy above is talking about but what I think is that the other player thought he was playing against levy, which he knows it's his favorite opening. Then Lucy played a very obscure line that the other guy didn't know and played some very defensive moves. If he would have played something violent or unbalanced knowing the rating is really 1100 the game would have lasted like 14 moves.
@a name I wrote a comment that said "Good April Fools joke" and everyone else was just writing "wow, after all this time you are finally GM" or "good job on getting GM". I was really confused.
Lucy seems to be a pretty Sigma female. She has two husbands, Levy and Gothamchess, and they’re both super cool about it. Will and Jada could learn a lot.
yeah, but that's a mentality you need to actively try to fight against. play good moves that are good/you think are good regardless of how you feel about your opponent, instead of overcommitting to try and cheese things out let them make the mistakes and capitalize on em
- Is around 1000 Elo - Makes every opening/defence a Vienna position - Doesn’t study because they have Gotham Chess to help Confirmed. I am Levy’s wife.
Imagine IM opponent thinking "oh! I get to play and beat Gotham again...great day!".. Plot Twist: He just beats1000 Lucy And on the next video Plot twist2 : Opponent beats Benji
"She's the best!!" Really nice game by Lucy! Great episode - a bit of a Chess Steps hybrid with Lucy as the guest star. Important lessons highlighted in an entertaining way! Thanks for the content and well done Lucy!
This is a really good video! I really love it when you take a fun concept, like reviewing your wife’s game or low elo chess, and give insights into how you would play the position. Hearing your thought process on why certain moves are good and the consequences of moves really provides great instructional content while also being very entertaining.
Woah, you got a Women's International Fide Explorer into one of your games? That sounds like an incredibly rare feat among chess players, congratulations!
Great video. btw congratulations on your GM title. I know you worked hard for this and many people doubted you but you finally made it. Now you are a proud chess content creator and also a grandmother.
This was a very nice thing to see: a husband who adores every move his girl makes!! You both should be proud: you for finding her and falling hard, and her for finding a guy with a heart of gold! Thank you both for this segment today. It was a gem!
I learned (or re-learned) more lessons from this video than I did from any of your 2022 videos. I think because it’s so simple to explain mistakes when the rating gap is so large. Like we can all learn so much and be reminded of simple stuff from Lucy’s games!! - have bishops hang back and not defend in the middle of the board - dont allow that knight and pawn to get petrified by the rook move - trade into opposite colored bishop endgames
I feel like this is an exceptionally nice video from you! It is very wholesome, and you were very calm and instructive throughout. I always enjoy your videos, but I specially liked this change in style!
This was extremely instructive and helpful to my overall understanding. All your content is helpful but somehow this one connected with me very well. Thanks
For the first time in a GothamChess video, Levy asked if I could hear something and yes, I could hear the radiator. If you hadn't said anything, I wouldn't have noticed.
Not blundering a piece at some point in a 3 minute game is already good play in my opinion. Straight one move piece blunders happen all the time near the 1000 elo mark on lower time controls. Actually having a relatively even position against a 2800 elo player is a real achievement.
Lucy played really well, she should be very proud of holding her own against someone rated 1700 points higher. This would also have made a great Guess the Elo episode! It would be impossible to figure out.
I loved this video, it was super entertaining, it was awesome to see Lucy hold her own and this game seemed to "speak" to me more in terms of learning, especially about trading with the knight vs bishop around 8:30 or so, thanks Levy!
Really nice, instructive video. Would definitely like more of these type. Lots to think about, lots to digest, but definitely learned things that I can put into practice quickly. Thanks!!
It's really weird playing someone you know very well chess, because it leads to strange games involving moves neither party would make playing another person.
I'm currently 1817 classical over-the-board Elo, and about a month ago I met a player rated 1281. In december last year, I faced a player rated 2240. This is about the largest rating gaps I ever get - I have not had a single match-up with someone rated 500 points below or above me in a classical chess game and I have played for 24 years.
Phenomenal game! She played well above her rating. It wouldn't surprise me if she gained a bunch a bunch of points going back to skill based matchmaking. Also a really educational video. It broke down so much with the reasons behind stuff at the most critical parts. It's definitely hard to see everything under time pressure without a lot of practice, but knowing what to look out for and aim for helps a lot to ingrain it.
