    Hi Levy, I started playing about a month ago and I just made it to 800. I've finally come to the unavoidable conclusion that I have to actually start learning openings and stuff if I want to continue improving. I've seen you talk about your love of the Caro Kahn in different vids and thought it might be a cool opening to learn for black. Is it out of my current skillrange?

    • @porantso8092
      @porantso8092 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      you can start with french and mix it with caro kann cause sometimes the carro gets into closed positions and learning how to deal with it in the french can help you also in carro kann cause positions are quite similar. hope this helps.

    • @thehypnotist9750
      @thehypnotist9750 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      There's nothing wrong with learning openings but I'll guess the real reason you're 800 isn't because you don't know openings. It's because you don't follow basic chess principles like developing fast and controlling the center. Also because you leave pieces undefended and miss simple tactics for yourself and your opponent. My buddy is 1300 and doesn't know any openings at all, he just does a lot of puzzles lol. Start doing chess puzzles regularly if you don't already.

    • @nightgamerdbd
      @nightgamerdbd 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can try the caro kann but u must know how to play closed positions and positions u got a lack of space in first. U may watch levys video for the same. But i would recommend u first get better at open positions coz the gameplay is a lot easier. I as a 1300 even struggle in the caro kann due to the lack of space I get so I barely ever play it. Stockfish even says I am completely lost(+3 or more) due to the lack of space and bad position of my pieces in caro kann many times(stockfish hates the caro kann due to the lack of space it gives u.. It says white is already +1 very early on if u choose to play the caro)

    • @besart9740
      @besart9740 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ok, most of these comments are kinda off. karo can be played by anyone, but you just have to know the basic ideas to the responses of it. if you're 800 and just recently started playing, youll get better, and as that one guy said, openings arent the most most important thing ever. learn one playstyle, something like the vienna or karo or something and learn the different positions you can get into with it and youll play good games and get to 1000 in no time. also, stop blundering pieces, that almost puts you at 1000 already

    • @thehypnotist9750
      @thehypnotist9750 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@besart9740 You got it man. People don't get above 1000 until they stop blundering every other move. It doesnt matter what opening you know if you blunder a lot. My gf is 900 and gives me free pieces left and right lol. My other buddy who is 1300 and doesnt know any openings, he simply has better vision of the board and doesn't blunder nearly as much. It's good to learn openings but it's more important to learn to see how the pieces interact to minimize blunders (puzzles help). Also basic chess principles.

    This is so relatable, coming up from time to time with twice the tactics of my elo, then playing those wtf moves in between. I could fathom making rook takes h2 at 22:37, not necessarily calculating all the way to the end, yet my elo is currently lower than the subs. I guess that's halfway 'getting lucky' lol, but yea, still do actual accurate tactics at 500 points above my elo.

    If you go through all of my games, you can find some amazing tactical sequences, including stuff like mate in 7.

    Playing maybe only 600 would be my guess, by 800 you would not do all the back a forth nonsense.

    this title is even funnier if you know latin - "nemo" means "no one" in latin so Levy is basically doing a GTE with no one, which means he is doing it alone. It's just an ordinary GTE, man!

      Every since I learned that I wondered if the film Finding Nemo had a deeper message in its title

      @@sjiht0019 actually there is. Well, there is a THEORY that Nemo died before the story. His father is looking for him in vain (maybe he doesn't know that his son is already dead), but he can't find him (since Nemo is already dead), he can't find NO ONE. A clue to this theory is that his father goes through the 5 stages of grieving throughout the film (denial, anger, negotiation, depression and acceptance). However, "Finding Nemo" is a children's film, which is why it isn't shown. It's an interesting theory nonetheless.
