I love how Aeolia predicted the problems of the Universal Century even though they never occurred in the Anno Domini timeline. He knew that expansion into space without solving the root cause of human conflict would only lead to war and turmoil on an unimaginable scale.
credits to the owner: ELS understand other beings by merging with them. This is what they were trying to do in the whole movie. However humans are individual creatures as opposed to a linked hive mind so this type of thing is bad for them. The ELS didn't understood this until Setsuna communicated with them through the Quantum Burst field during the climax. Once they realized they were hurting the humans instead of helping them, they stopped and offered a gesture of peace (which is the giant flower thing, which they got from Setsuna's consciousness as a symbol of peace) Basically the whole movie was a misunderstanding as a result of difference of biological cultures between the two civilizations. They worked things out and became close friends afterwards with ELS helping the humans a lot. Setsuna 50 years later is a physical representation of that good relationship. Instead of consuming individual humans altogether they merged with them (with their consent of course they don't go do it for fun and for lolz) and forming their shapes while allowing their individuality to be retained. A symbol to show that the ELS finally understood humans and how Setsuna was one of those who made it possible.
Honestly very well thought out, if we ever encountered aliens it would be very difficult to understand them or their culture and technology since we have no frame of reference. It could very well result in conflict
Setsuna's appearance looks like 23 years old, but his ages is 73 years old after spend his time 50 years in ELS homeworld. His personalities become warmer, friendlier, and wants to understanding. He became grandpa.

It always felt to me like 00 was a series about humanity achieving a kind of singularity. Not the AI singularity usually envisioned now, but one where humanity achieves a scale of technology that necessarily requires them to outgrow war and achieve unprecedented harmony amongst themselves. That's what Aeolia was looking for the whole time. By incredible struggle, and Aeolia's godlike planning, Setsuna hit that point just as humanity met its test (first contact) and humanity could now truly evolve. It might seem sentimental or unrealistic, but it may only be because we haven't gotten there yet. That's generally how singularities work. UC shows humanity with all its tragic flaws. AD shows us something beyond all that pain and misery.

I really hope he's in peace with everything in this universe. Cause his destiny as an ELS/Innovator hybrid is kind of lonely. But again, maybe he's living his own valhalla and is genuinely free of any kind of pain, as the young man who saved the world twice deserves it.
I love this movie. This ending was PERFECT for a gundam series like this. The plot was meant to show people what can happen by understanding one another and show how powerful that understanding is and how it can be used to bring true peace, even on a galactic scale.
Davis Lent in the manga version...setsuna comes back but instead turns marina younger again using the els power he has and marries her after telling her we finally understand one another.

I had a classmate who hated the ending, or rather the movie. I understood the ending so well, it actually made me shed a tear. The way they misunderstood each other and just wanted peace amongst one another. It was tragic. Only when Setsuna found himself, and then found a way to communicate, did they truly understood each other. This was a good representation of the human psyche too fyi

It is one of the better of the best anime ending ever and I love it very much. I love Gundam 00 so much because it is one of better of the best quality anime (not only entire Gundam franchise but also entire anime). I hope it will happen in future of our realistic world.
Funny thing how gundam 00 actually reflected our worlds current state. War for power and innovation but instead they don't go anywhere because they keep on killing one another. Or a small countrys inner struggle for a little bit of advancement for their people because oil no longer has a purpose. The solar towers are a literal gatekeep towards innovation because instead of sharing the power and incubate a nation they instead have bigger request for returns after giving said power and the land losing their sovereignity because they would all be under the Union. The countries who aremt a part lf the solar elevators not only are poor but are fighting for the sake that they wont lose their nation and lose their identity but at the end of the day, your identity, your nation, your pride, your ego and your religion doesnt define on what you think is peace. The only key here is communication. Those green particles not only enabled people to move forward but the fact no one had to fight anymore realizing that more conflicts creates more divide. Kinda like a tower of babel situation. One language united the people and they built a tower to reach god, aka another term for innovation but something happened, maybe a catastrophe that segmented and fragmented the people. Throughout the years, the original language morphed to the point it can no longer be used for communicating with other people and in turn spark wars beget from misundertsanding. I am glad that the internet is a thing now, because tbh it became our tower of babel but the problem here is that idiots are given the platform and they cancel people that make way for innovation. To me, there's a message that Mizushima shows in the ending ... I don't think the whole ending is a major disappointment...but a true conclusion. Throughout the series, you guys should have realize that the story focuses on Setsuna... and after that Marina......To be honest,the ending is kinda ironic... I mean, you know the episode where Setsuna approached Marina Ismail in her room at night, for the answer that he's looking for? Is exactly the same thing he approached her in this ending, but differently...and emotionally. After 50 long years of finding peace to the world. The ideal of both sides of the party wishes for peace has finally come to fulfill. I've read the the Prelude manga that was illustrated by Yun Kouga... and its CANON, where Setsuna sat on an Island thinking about his last meeting with Marina. Given thoughts on each other and what they both symbolize as: To Setsuna, Marina is like 'a flower bloomed on dried grounds', and to Marina, Setsuna is 'the sky that cannot be reached.'. . . So Setsuna gave his farewell to Marina before he sets off for his next mission, and before he left, Marina promise to him that she will always 'be there' waiting for his return. So they did their part separately within those years to fulfill their dream until those days were come to at peace and they finally found their answer. "Where the Sky meets the Earth..", exactly like Yun Kouga entitled the prelude manga... If I analysed together with the anime, manga and the movie...my point of view would be, that the Sky(setsuna) finally meets with the longed-blooming flower(marina) who lies with many flowers around her... This is something Setsuna ever dreamed to see and in hopes he could find the flower that he used to carry with him during the war. And this is how Marina planted the flowers, in hopes to meet Setsuna again... and she have always wish for, the sky that she couldn't reached out her hands to came to her. She's old and blind but she still have the ability to sense whoever came to visit her. But this time, is the moment where her dreams finally fulfilled, and same goes for Setsuna as well... to finally come to understand each other and embrace... Don't get me wrong, Im a big fan of Gundam 00, I majorly followed this series than any other gundam series. And as far I can see, the stories are very amazing and fully reflects what our world involve in.

Setsuna and his glorious, yet somehow tragic destiny. He's one of my favorite protagonists in any anime. He's probably going to be inmortal and feel the pain of what that means, or perhaps he's now a "beyond human understanding" being and will dedicate itself to communicating with other civilizations to achieve understanding without harming colleagues of the same universe. Still, that Setsuna was destined for something so lonely is tragic. He saved the world twice, he deserved better.
Actually ELS Setsuna sounds peaceful and finally found his happiness. He managed to achieve his goal and became a "Gundam" that stops conflicts through understanding.

If I recall OO is like one of the few Gundum series out there with an actual happy ending, as in everyone understands each other, peace is not enforced but simply achieved in a good way, and they literally understand a completely alien race. Meanwhile we have the Dark History Timeline, aka the Correct Century, aka Turn A Gundum. Where humanity never learned, never truly achieved peace, where Earth was literally reset.
I think this movie really reveals the true meaning of the desert flower, not because it's something given to him by feldt or marina or anything romantic. to him it's a symbol of peace, of hope towards the future (as it grows even in the most barren desert) and when he connected with the ELS, they saw this as "peace" and made that flower to show that they have reached an understanding.

The best part is that in the Manga Adaptation Setsuna used his powers to rejuvenate Marina to her youth and they both got Married. It was a Beautiful Ending 😍.

Bittersweet in a way. For all the positive things that happened at the end, there's a sense of loss as well. Setsuna and Marina never got the chance to really be together. And now that they are? He's immortal and she's not far off from dying of old age. I imagine this was the last time they ever saw each other.
Most people mistaken the term: Pure Innovator as something exclusive solely to Setsuna. The fact is, Ribbons Almark and his gang are all Innovades, Pure Innovators are humans who went through Innovation and became Innovators rather than Ribbons and gang who are artificially created to mimic True Innovators as envisioned by Aeolia.
Its the same thing in Gundam Seed. Coordinators are originally designed to help 'coordinate' the evolution of mankind to their next state and yet ironically enough the prejudice and jealously as well as petty differences caused so much conflict that it was stalled.
That would be an awesome spin off series. The ship Sumeragi going thru space like in Star Trek except with Gundams. Setsuna and Tiaria are still alive and there's enough new characters to keep it going. At least for a season anyway. Or a movie.

In a meta sense, this is rather bittersweet. This was the last Gundam series Ocean had a hand in dubbing. They aren't commissioned to do dubs as much as they used to because of how expensive it is and that their original commissioner Bandai shut down a while later. Ocean's other commissioner Geneon shut down long before this. It's a shame how we'll never see this kind of dubbing ever again. Despite that, this was a good way to go out.
No doubt to me my 2nd favorite Gundam series along with Wing and Iron Blooded Orphans. This ending is the best one and 1st Gundam shed me tears because the music Kenji Kawai does is powerful and emotional and what counts the most is the bond. Despite many years Setsuna and Marina haven't forgotten each other and embrace each other after they both finally understand. Gundam 00 Qan [T] will be legend through decades as it ELS body fused with flowers was so cool. 'Peace cannot be kept by force. It can only be achieved by understanding.' Gundam 00 wasn't perfect but it did take its storyline in a bold new direction especially with this movie. Frankly I think more shows need to do this rather than sticking with what works for the sake of ratings.

Well, we know that there was a terrorist uprising in response to humanity suddenly beginning to get glowy eyes and/or merging with curious, metal space aliens. As you do when the world starts getting very weird, very fast. I believe CB was involved in trying to bring peace during that time.
Yes, that's the true intention of this series. You can also see Setsuna's power as inovator to spread communication through telepathy with the help of GN particles. Not just any communication but what really is in the heart of each person within the range of GN particles.
Many people disliked the movie, because they did not understand what really happened. I really liked how they portray Aeolia's Plan in this movie, the unity of people. However, I wished that they made more spotlight and screentime on the 00 Qan[T]
People are just mad because they didn't want so much "space magic" and "aliens" in their perfect sci-fi environment(even if AD magic is much more scientific than UC magic). The message from this movie is beautiful and should be appretiated, even if the show morphed as a result.

In Gundam 00 S2 Ending 4 .. I wonder why there's a scene that Setsuna (Young Setsuna) was in place where his Gundam was full of flowers. That ending song was so advanced that you only find this in Gundam 00 Movie.

The Covenant would have been destroyed easily. Look how long humanity held on with just conventional weapons. The Covenant is hardly a threat when you have a fleet of MS with vastly superior technology and the ELS which is basically unstoppable

such an interesting conclusion to the 00 series and Gundam's exploits in the A.D. calender! Like Gundam Wing they wanted to close the universe for good so they can only do prequels and spin-offs from here on out but Setsuna must be the first true person Aeolia had dreamt about the entire human race becoming. The theory of innovators seems to be more straightforward and consistent than Daikun's theory on newtypes.

In the manga ending, the princess and setsuna ate united but, setsuna gives a gift of immortality to the princess due to the aliens they fought against in past. It makes the princess young again shes able to see and both setsun f seie and the princess begins to dance and happily ever after the end of gundam 00.

A always so so much hate for this series conclusion. Weird that we actually get a legit conclusion to a Gundam series and people hate it. There’s a lot more to Gundam 00 than what we see on the surface. A lot of it is relatable to shit going on today. This will always be my favorite Gundam series.

00Q may be the only Gundam to ever "escape" the Butterfly via quantum teleportation. So I guess that makes Turn A the most powerful Gundam then. Either that, or it just has the most powerful weapon. And 00Q is a close runner up. But my point is that the ELS 00Q has to be more powerful than 00Q. I guess I would just like to see it in action.

Setsuna F. Seiei is in my opinion the best character that Canadian VA - Brad Swalie has ever played. He is undoubtedly the perfect combination of Kira, Amaro Ray, Quttrra, Rock, Nightcrawler, and Kicker Jones!

Sometimes if words fail and you have no other option, there are times peace is an ideal only achieved by the use of force. Do NOT mistake me, I don't like using force, however I can't deny there are times it is necessary if all else fails. IF (can't stress that enough) IF force is necessary, ONLY use it to END the conflict, NOT escalate it! If you must fight, never throw the first punch, but be sure to throw the last.
LockeLynx I think the show acknowledges this pretty well. Celestial Being only exists because this is true. And they continue to operate despite a relatively amicable and well-meaning Earth alliance because they know total end to conflict is impossible.

My advice to you is this....watch seasons 1 and 2 of 00 first, and then re-watch the film after watching the TV series. If you feel like you want to continue on with what happens afterwards.
I love how Aeolia predicted the problems of the Universal Century even though they never occurred in the Anno Domini timeline. He knew that expansion into space without solving the root cause of human conflict would only lead to war and turmoil on an unimaginable scale.

credits to the owner: ELS understand other beings by merging with them. This is what they were trying to do in the whole movie. However humans are individual creatures as opposed to a linked hive mind so this type of thing is bad for them. The ELS didn't understood this until Setsuna communicated with them through the Quantum Burst field during the climax. Once they realized they were hurting the humans instead of helping them, they stopped and offered a gesture of peace (which is the giant flower thing, which they got from Setsuna's consciousness as a symbol of peace) Basically the whole movie was a misunderstanding as a result of difference of biological cultures between the two civilizations. They worked things out and became close friends afterwards with ELS helping the humans a lot.
Setsuna 50 years later is a physical representation of that good relationship. Instead of consuming individual humans altogether they merged with them (with their consent of course they don't go do it for fun and for lolz) and forming their shapes while allowing their individuality to be retained. A symbol to show that the ELS finally understood humans and how Setsuna was one of those who made it possible.

It always felt to me like 00 was a series about humanity achieving a kind of singularity. Not the AI singularity usually envisioned now, but one where humanity achieves a scale of technology that necessarily requires them to outgrow war and achieve unprecedented harmony amongst themselves. That's what Aeolia was looking for the whole time. By incredible struggle, and Aeolia's godlike planning, Setsuna hit that point just as humanity met its test (first contact) and humanity could now truly evolve. It might seem sentimental or unrealistic, but it may only be because we haven't gotten there yet. That's generally how singularities work.
UC shows humanity with all its tragic flaws. AD shows us something beyond all that pain and misery.

I really hope he's in peace with everything in this universe. Cause his destiny as an ELS/Innovator hybrid is kind of lonely. But again, maybe he's living his own valhalla and is genuinely free of any kind of pain, as the young man who saved the world twice deserves it.
I love this movie. This ending was PERFECT for a gundam series like this. The plot was meant to show people what can happen by understanding one another and show how powerful that understanding is and how it can be used to bring true peace, even on a galactic scale.

I understood the ending so well, it actually made me shed a tear. The way they misunderstood each other and just wanted peace amongst one another. It was tragic.
Only when Setsuna found himself, and then found a way to communicate, did they truly understood each other.

It is one of the better of the best anime ending ever and I love it very much. I love Gundam 00 so much because it is one of better of the best quality anime (not only entire Gundam franchise but also entire anime). I hope it will happen in future of our realistic world.
Funny thing how gundam 00 actually reflected our worlds current state. War for power and innovation but instead they don't go anywhere because they keep on killing one another.

The solar towers are a literal gatekeep towards innovation because instead of sharing the power and incubate a nation they instead have bigger request for returns after giving said power and the land losing their sovereignity because they would all be under the Union. The countries who aremt a part lf the solar elevators not only are poor but are fighting for the sake that they wont lose their nation and lose their identity but at the end of the day, your identity, your nation, your pride, your ego and your religion doesnt define on what you think is peace. The only key here is communication. Those green particles not only enabled people to move forward but the fact no one had to fight anymore realizing that more conflicts creates more divide.

To me, there's a message that Mizushima shows in the ending ... I don't think the whole ending is a major disappointment...but a true conclusion. Throughout the series, you guys should have realize that the story focuses on Setsuna... and after that Marina......To be honest,the ending is kinda ironic... I mean, you know the episode where Setsuna approached Marina Ismail in her room at night, for the answer that he's looking for? Is exactly the same thing he approached her in this ending, but differently...and emotionally.
After 50 long years of finding peace to the world. The ideal of both sides of the party wishes for peace has finally come to fulfill.
I've read the the Prelude manga that was illustrated by Yun Kouga... and its CANON, where Setsuna sat on an Island thinking about his last meeting with Marina. Given thoughts on each other and what they both symbolize as:
To Setsuna, Marina is like 'a flower bloomed on dried grounds', and to Marina, Setsuna is 'the sky that cannot be reached.'. . . So Setsuna gave his farewell to Marina before he sets off for his next mission, and before he left, Marina promise to him that she will always 'be there' waiting for his return. So they did their part separately within those years to fulfill their dream until those days were come to at peace and they finally found their answer.
"Where the Sky meets the Earth..", exactly like Yun Kouga entitled the prelude manga... If I analysed together with the anime, manga and the movie...my point of view would be, that the Sky(setsuna) finally meets with the longed-blooming flower(marina) who lies with many flowers around her... This is something Setsuna ever dreamed to see and in hopes he could find the flower that he used to carry with him during the war. And this is how Marina planted the flowers, in hopes to meet Setsuna again... and she have always wish for, the sky that she couldn't reached out her hands to came to her. She's old and blind but she still have the ability to sense whoever came to visit her. But this time, is the moment where her dreams finally fulfilled, and same goes for Setsuna as well... to finally come to understand each other and embrace...
Don't get me wrong, Im a big fan of Gundam 00, I majorly followed this series than any other gundam series. And as far I can see, the stories are very amazing and fully reflects what our world involve in.
it is how I view gundam 00 the whole time.! everyone was like fehlt she love him . but really he wasn't look for that answer and that why she was turn down. the whole thing was about both setsuna and marina find there own way and view how to stop the fighting but with the peace.this happen with setsuna didn't have to fight the els but talk am communicate with them that was marina goal. how she fighting for peace and the flower was a symbol for how beautiful flower grow ever all the war. that why setsuna always though back to marina and what she say. there idea became the same, and feeling happen. so it a irony story. I love felht but she had no I idea to the deep thought that of what was going on and the depth of it.

Setsuna and his glorious, yet somehow tragic destiny. He's one of my favorite protagonists in any anime. He's probably going to be inmortal and feel the pain of what that means, or perhaps he's now a "beyond human understanding" being and will dedicate itself to communicating with other civilizations to achieve understanding without harming colleagues of the same universe. Still, that Setsuna was destined for something so lonely is tragic. He saved the world twice, he deserved better.
Actually ELS Setsuna sounds peaceful and finally found his happiness. He managed to achieve his goal and became a "Gundam" that stops conflicts through understanding.
He can probably get ELS to save Marina the princess if she wished too.

If I recall OO is like one of the few Gundum series out there with an actual happy ending, as in everyone understands each other, peace is not enforced but simply achieved in a good way, and they literally understand a completely alien race.
Meanwhile we have the Dark History Timeline, aka the Correct Century, aka Turn A Gundum. Where humanity never learned, never truly achieved peace, where Earth was literally reset.

I think this movie really reveals the true meaning of the desert flower, not because it's something given to him by feldt or marina or anything romantic. to him it's a symbol of peace, of hope towards the future (as it grows even in the most barren desert) and when he connected with the ELS, they saw this as "peace" and made that flower to show that they have reached an understanding.

Bittersweet in a way. For all the positive things that happened at the end, there's a sense of loss as well. Setsuna and Marina never got the chance to really be together. And now that they are? He's immortal and she's not far off from dying of old age. I imagine this was the last time they ever saw each other.

Most people mistaken the term: Pure Innovator as something exclusive solely to Setsuna. The fact is, Ribbons Almark and his gang are all Innovades, Pure Innovators are humans who went through Innovation and became Innovators rather than Ribbons and gang who are artificially created to mimic True Innovators as envisioned by Aeolia.
Its the same thing in Gundam Seed. Coordinators are originally designed to help 'coordinate' the evolution of mankind to their next state and yet ironically enough the prejudice and jealously as well as petty differences caused so much conflict that it was stalled.
Descartes Sherman (pilot of GNMA-Y0002V Gadelaza) is another pure innovator. So it's not solely exclusive to Setsuna

In a meta sense, this is rather bittersweet. This was the last Gundam series Ocean had a hand in dubbing. They aren't commissioned to do dubs as much as they used to because of how expensive it is and that their original commissioner Bandai shut down a while later. Ocean's other commissioner Geneon shut down long before this. It's a shame how we'll never see this kind of dubbing ever again.
Despite that, this was a good way to go out.
No doubt to me my 2nd favorite Gundam series along with Wing and Iron Blooded Orphans.
This ending is the best one and 1st Gundam shed me tears because the music Kenji Kawai does is powerful and emotional and what counts the most is the bond. Despite many years Setsuna and Marina haven't forgotten each other and embrace each other after they both finally understand. Gundam 00 Qan [T] will be legend through decades as it ELS body fused with flowers was so cool. 'Peace cannot be kept by force. It can only be achieved by understanding.' Gundam 00 wasn't perfect but it did take its storyline in a bold new direction especially with this movie. Frankly I think more shows need to do this rather than sticking with what works for the sake of ratings.

Yes, that's the true intention of this series. You can also see Setsuna's power as inovator to spread communication through telepathy with the help of GN particles. Not just any communication but what really is in the heart of each person within the range of GN particles.
An emotional and deep ending, I hope people can understand each other.
Many people disliked the movie, because they did not understand what really happened. I really liked how they portray Aeolia's Plan in this movie, the unity of people.
However, I wished that they made more spotlight and screentime on the 00 Qan[T]
People are just mad because they didn't want so much "space magic" and "aliens" in their perfect sci-fi environment(even if AD magic is much more scientific than UC magic). The message from this movie is beautiful and should be appretiated, even if the show morphed as a result.

In Gundam 00 S2 Ending 4 .. I wonder why there's a scene that Setsuna (Young Setsuna) was in place where his Gundam was full of flowers. That ending song was so advanced that you only find this in Gundam 00 Movie.

Kinda makes me wish this timeline followed into Halo. I wanna see how the war between Humanity and the Covenant would go now that they had GN-Drives, Gundam Mobile suits and the ELS to help them.

The Covenant would have been destroyed easily. Look how long humanity held on with just conventional weapons. The Covenant is hardly a threat when you have a fleet of MS with vastly superior technology and the ELS which is basically unstoppable
@@jeff3221 then the covenant would try and field similar weapons just to try and level the playing field, like the Grunt-mech "Goblin" from Halo 5. That said, the Mobile Suits wouldn't be immune to Plasma weaponry, they'd still be susceptible to melting.
@@LockeLynx the true covenant would never copy the tech of humans because we're sinners. Halo 5's Storm Covenant are like Zeon remenets, they'll use anything because they've lost their purpose. I don't think the Covenant would even be able to make mobile suits anywhere close to ELS fused gn drive tau's.

Like Gundam Wing they wanted to close the universe for good so they can only do prequels and spin-offs from here on out but Setsuna must be the first true person Aeolia had dreamt about the entire human race becoming. The theory of innovators seems to be more straightforward and consistent than Daikun's theory on newtypes.

In the manga ending, the princess and setsuna ate united but, setsuna gives a gift of immortality to the princess due to the aliens they fought against in past. It makes the princess young again shes able to see and both setsun f seie and the princess begins to dance and happily ever after the end of gundam 00.
At least gundam 00 try to achieve peace without being hypocrite,like gundam seed destiny and wing.Oh and dont get started on the whole mobile suit thing again in Frozen Teardrop.

A always so so much hate for this series conclusion. Weird that we actually get a legit conclusion to a Gundam series and people hate it. There’s a lot more to Gundam 00 than what we see on the surface. A lot of it is relatable to shit going on today. This will always be my favorite Gundam series.

Realistically it's a fact, however I do want to point out that there are those who just don't want to understand. Sometimes if words fail and you have no other option, there are times peace is an ideal only achieved by the use of force.
Do NOT mistake me, I don't like using force, however I can't deny there are times it is necessary if all else fails. IF (can't stress that enough) IF force is necessary, ONLY use it to END the conflict, NOT escalate it!

LockeLynx I think the show acknowledges this pretty well. Celestial Being only exists because this is true. And they continue to operate despite a relatively amicable and well-meaning Earth alliance because they know total end to conflict is impossible.

Maybe it IS metallic but it emulates the feel of organic skin? Setsuna as a human knows how real skin feels like and that "metal" is part of him, after all. Therefore, he can probably change what he feels like to others.

Yes, yes it is. Yes, it the same flower after the final mission, yes it the same film for 00 and yes, Marina is the one with black hear, and Feldt had pink hair. My advice to you is this....watch seasons 1 and 2 of 00 first, and then re-watch the film after watching the TV series. If you feel like you want to continue on with what happens afterwards.
