@@ninjamonkeys21 the shield was basically useless though in a 1v1 against Exia, especially because Exia was designed specifically to destroy Gundams with its physical blade being able to cut through anything even GN shields, Reborns did the right choice of ditching the shield altogether because it would just hinder the 0 Gundam's mobility and his vision after his monitors were taken out along with the cockpit hatch, he had no choice in the matter if he wanted to gain a fighting chance since the 0 Gundam is a very old Gundam heck its basically the predecessor to every Gundam within celestial beings arsenal meanwhile Exia is a 3rd or was it 4th generation Gundam type making it superior than the 0 since it has more melee options than just a shield and a saber, nonetheless with the right pilot it could have worked out well but sadly Reborns just isn't a true natural innovator like Setsuna and his plot armor was already running thin so he might as well ditch the shield and try to be more agile alas it won't change the situation since his death was inevitable as he had lost everything at that point so even if he had escaped there it would put him another decades to rise up if he even can considering by that time celestial being itself would grow even more powerful

If you think about it, Ribbon's final stand resonates with Amuro's in the sense that they they both lost their their camera feeds. Only one lost the cockpit display and the other lost the main camera.

What i like the most about Setsuna is his growth as a person. He went from a child soldier who doesn't care about anything except for his missions, to a person who saved humanity by understanding other living beings through dialogue rather than violence. This series was beautiful.

The Bright slap made things worse for Amuro to the point that he went out of White Base (and that's AFTER he gathered his thoughts and calmed down) since Bright was feeling his own pressures while not having any empathy for the unreasonable expectations set on Amuro; everyone in the WB was also being an ass to him at the time which made things worse. It was Amuro's journey through finding empathy from Ramba (an enemy), and Ryu's eventual sacrifice that set Amuro towards the right path. But if the original Bright Slap was intended to cosmically make the stars align to have these events happen, then does the bright slap serve the intended purpose. There are better implementations IMO of Bright Slaps in succeeding series: Wong Lee correcting then petulant self-described autist Kamille (and actually stopped being annoying - though pretty understandable on Kamille's end given that his parents just died very recently with no good outlets to vent out frustrations), Judau giving Wong Lee the business (there was no reasonable justification why Wong wanted to correct Judau at that point, especially when Judau was making shit happen while the AEUG was mostly crippled at that point), Jamil prodiving the greatest words to accompany the slap "When a young man strays from right path, a kind man needs to have the courage to raise his fist to correct him", even Jesus Yamato had this gem "you can't protect anything if feelings are your only weapons".
This series was so prophetic in a way. The way the different global blocs developed parallels what is beginning to happen now. The Chinese and Russians are increasingly aligned against the west, while the west is also increasingly hardline. Limitless Renewable energy is becoming an ever increasing possibility. Instability in the middle east with the risk of war spilling into more neighboring nations. And now the west of Africa risks breaking out into war
The fact that he's the ultimate true antagonist all this time, and turned out Ali and Alejandro (2 really messed up enemies too) are nothing more but Ribbons' paws just shows how this guy literally planned everything in advance. His own resurrection thru Veda (until Regene & Tieria barged in), how to stage up the government into fear using the A Laws, steering Louise & Wang Lue Mei into funding his own interest, and lasty even built his own Gundam whose supposed to be the counterpart for 00 Raiser.
Its amazing how sunrise peeps think up their series' like this show aired around the time of syrian war, a war of ideology, it still gives me goosebumps at how every gundam anime is somewhat inspired by real life events
This solidifies my liking for the series. Normally the most powerful mobile suits will have the final showdown. Here it did happen, but they went back to what Setsuna originally used vs the prototype that lead Setsuna to this point. Its basically him cutting his past for the sake of the future using the power he obtained.
You definitely should. I stopped watching it too after the first season bcz I never really got into it but I tried rewatching it and the entire show just paid off at the end
Same. I’ve tried watching it a few times now and I never make it past about episode 10 or so. Something about the combat just feels really...anaemic to me. Like the weapons have no impact, compared to something like Unicorn or IBO. Plus I’m not super into the MS designs. But I keep hearing about how awesome the series is as a whole, and given how popular it is within the fandom, I figure there’s gotta be something further down the line that I’m missing...
It starts fairly light outside the opening. It gets a lot darker and gritter overall later on, and the fights get more and more brutal. Nothing on what IBO does (sweet jesus) but a fair number of people die horribly on both sides.
In fact, it is logic, for he is using a much older unit, and, with the beam saber being his only weapon, didn't have anything else to resort than close range. Furthermore, the shield wouldn't have been useful, for it wouldn't really stop the blade from cutting it like hot butter, being heated before even being touched by the green material (that's why the blade was changed to this appearance in the first place). So basically, there was only one thing worth trying for an immortal being as Ribbons
The thing is Tieria yoinked Veda control from Ribbons as a planned death middle finger so he is no longer immortal, Setsuna is gladly there to finish what Tieria started and put Ribbons down for good.

For those who don’t know,Gundam 00 has a different timeline.Not even connected with the original one. And the fact that Ribbons has the same VA with Amuro. So,O Gundam,which looks almost like RX-78-2,was a reference.
Plus, Aeolia Schenberg discovering of the GN particles much early on compare with other timeline, without him, 00 would enviably becoming the next Universal century and Correct century.

実はこの戦闘シーン、オーガンダムとエクシアR2にはかなりの性能差が開いておりまして、、、
エクシアのがR2に改良された事でかなり高性能化している事から実は割と理不尽な試合となっております。
第5世代相当の性能まで上がっているエクシアを中破まで持ち込んだリボンズさんはむしろスゲー善戦した方っていう…

I didn't even get into 00 and this scene is incredibly powerful. Definitely reconsidering a watch
You definitely should. I stopped watching it too after the first season bcz I never really got into it but I tried rewatching it and the entire show just paid off at the end
Same. I’ve tried watching it a few times now and I never make it past about episode 10 or so. Something about the combat just feels really...anaemic to me. Like the weapons have no impact, compared to something like Unicorn or IBO. Plus I’m not super into the MS designs. But I keep hearing about how awesome the series is as a whole, and given how popular it is within the fandom, I figure there’s gotta be something further down the line that I’m missing...
It starts fairly light outside the opening. It gets a lot darker and gritter overall later on, and the fights get more and more brutal. Nothing on what IBO does (sweet jesus) but a fair number of people die horribly on both sides.
It was the first Gundam series I watched from front to back. It still makes me a bit emotional each time I see it.

最初の武力介入と最後の武力介入の機体が同じなのめっちゃいい
このなんとも言えない歌をバックにこの最終戦があるのが演出として妙なのに、当時非難轟轟でスペエディで改変されちゃったと聞いて悲しくなるよ……
この演出は本当に良かった。
自分の周りでは批判的な人なんていなかったから
後から不評だったと聞いてびっくりしました。

自分もこっちのが好きなのですが不評だったのか…
逆に儚くも悠久のカナシのほうがちょっと違和感感じてしまう自分…。

@m4albino201 his data still exists within Veda, but tiera has it locked behind various firewalls that he alone has the key to. Effectively, ribbons is dead with no way to bring him back unless tiera decides to but never will.

This plot is so perfect , they are presenting the start of the end.
リボンズの「この人間風情がぁ！」ってセリフ突っ込み所満載定期。刹那はイノベイターに進化したが根本的な部分は人のまま。むしろ人類を下等種族としてしか扱わないリボンズにこう言われる筋合いは無い。
リボンズが射撃当てられないのに刹那は一発でビームガン破壊してるの技量差を感じて好き
いうてOOライザーvsリボガンの時には、リボンズは側近を突破してきたアリオスガンダムを刹那の相手しながら戦闘不能にするぐらい余裕あったから、素の技量としてはリボンズの方が上では
ここでビームガン連射しても当たらなかった理由は、技量というより「愛機に対するブランク」の有無かと。2年間ボロボロのエクシアで戦い続けてガンダムとなった刹那と、Oガンダムから離れ過ぎてガンダムではなくなったリボンズの差

No. Noa slapped out Amuro's darkness into another world... and that became Ribbons.

MY favorite Gundam. Notice how the first scene of Gundam 00 is an encounter between Setsuna and Ribbons and it ends with a confrontation between them.
最初は子供達の歌がバックで流れているのは好きじゃなかったけど、「平和を願う子供達とマリナの思いを刹那は背負っている」って考えると、そんなに悪い演出じゃないと思うんだけどなぁ…
本編見た後だとUVERの合わなさすぎてびっくりした。最終戦の捉え方が違うからだと思うけど
