Mac was/is nothing short of a genius. An ever evolving singer/songwriter. To me, he was incredibly underrated by a lot of people but I truly think we won't see his kind of talent again. Some people have certain talents - singing, writing etc but Mac has it all, singer, songwriter, rapper, producer, musician (on multiple instruments) and the volume of music he made in his too short life is phenomenal. Music poured out of him.That was his gift to all of us. He is gone far too soon but I know he is rid of his demons and at rest in Paradise. Godspeed and God Bless , Mac.
His music is such eautiful hip hop. It sucks to think we won’t get to hear more beautiful music after this. I was so excited to hear this album and I love it. Maybe he’ll have music stashed somewhere.. we can only hope.
One thing that hits me about this song is the simple lyric "everybody's gotta live" . It emphasizes that we don't have a choice about being alive. Life is literally thrust upon us from birth. Nobody chooses to be born and life itself is at many times not more than a loathsome chore to be dealt with. "And everybody's gonna die" ultimately emphasizes that same point. Not only do we not choose life but we also don't choose death. This (at times) wonderful experience is trust upon us without warning and then cruelly ripped from us the same. Life itself is a cruel tragedy if you let yourself think about it that way. Luckily while that view is true other less bleak narratives are true as well. Tragedy, fear, despair-- those are only parts of a grander whole. It's kinda like how unless we had bitterness to stand in contrast to sweet ultimately we would have neither.
