Thank you for this. I know there’s a whole subset of people who go on Glick binges in cycles, but right now it’s my cycle and newer, full episodes like this are absolute gold mines
Thanks for watching! It’s so great to know that I am providing some thing that people will enjoy. These shows are so brilliant and I found it. Frustrating that no one else was posting full episodes. So I decided to do it myself!
The character that Martin Short created is absolutely brilliant But for some reason it only works in small doses, meaning like occasionally showing up out of the blue to do an off the cuff interview with a random celebrity and I think that's why the talk show didn't work
Still can’t believe Glick isn’t available on at least ONE of the 3 million (give or take) streaming platforms out there. Be better, streamers. Thanks for the upload, sir!
Thanks for watching! I could not agree more. You can’t even buy Jiminy Glick on any kind of media like DVD. It’s one of the most brilliant comedy shows ever created; and it amazes me that I seem to be the only one putting full episodes on TH-cam. I love Martin short, Phil Hartman, Jan hooks, all the folks from that crew!
His show was on our TV screens in the early 2000’s. Not a good time slot though . I think it was late morning, from memory. It was as a really great show. That’s where I first clapped eyes on Glick.
@@ClassicComedyArchive No, but I shall! What do you feel about Chris Lilly and the Jamie Kennedy x-periment? Rarely do I laugh out loud but these comics plus Tracey Ulman crack me up. Revisiting Martin Short I have a greater respect for Jackie Jr. and he did a great job for an sctv spot where he played this southern character in a black and white movie send up. Living in Toronto I had a bigger appreciation because they spoofed local talent and local high schools. Mel’s Rockpile was based on the music/dance program Boogie with a real nerd as host. Brian Lineahan was a Canadian interviewer. Sunrise Semester was an early to come on our viewing day television. I went to Parkdale, my ex went to Central, both basic inner city schools that they spoofed. The Catholic school was for rich kids. Short had two specials, one I liked, the other not so much. I’m binging on sctv right now and enjoy it more now than back then. It is compared to SNL but its budget was shoestring. I am also a fan of Catherine O’Hara.
Thanks for posting. This episode was taken down from yt. I thought Rob had asked for it to be taken down because of the "butt naked" joke. He didn't seem too thrilled with some of Jiminy's jokes.
18:15 The way the physical fight evolves cracks me up - that Tim Robbins doesn’t like being smacked with the paper. Most people - especially if so tall - would play it off, but he’s like, “Ow!!” He even tries to move away : ) I don’t know why I find this so funny!
“Every night I go to a wonderful, wonderful steam bath, where I have a personal reflection and I, I think about past defeats and future traumas, and I love you to join me tonight”
I know isn’t that hilarious! I don’t know how Martin short kept a straight face during these interviews. I love the episodes where you can hear him cracking up a bit. He definitely cracks up when he’s interviewing, Mel Brooks and Steve Martin. Thanks for watching!
@20:30 "I'm in a Bob Crane kind of mood." I am not sure how many people will get that joke for two reasons. 1) How many people remember Hogan's Heroes? How many know that Bob Crane played Colonel Robert E. Hogan? Crane has had other roles. But his Hogan's Heroes role is what put him on the chart. Even more obscure: 2) I suspect that few people knew that Crane was into stag films, from the days when such "entertainment" was available only on "film". That made them somewhat scarce to come by, and expensive. There was no internet and instant access to endless scenes back then. So that was interesting that Rob Schneider was aware and made that "Bob Crane kind of mood" joke. I also found it interesting that Schneider said that the impressions that he does are of people that are no longer interesting, because those people are gone. However, Peter Lorre, although gone for 60 years, I believe is still remembered. Granted, far less than decades ago. People born in the 1990s or later probably (most of them) do not know who Peter Lorre is. Perhaps if they saw a photo or video of him, they might recognize him. Peter Lorre was one of the greats in the entertainment world. So any of today's talented stars, regardless of their age, will watch and study those who were the giants in their day.
This was when SNL was funny. I was just watching SNL (11/2/2024) and none of it is funny anymore. As soon as the Weekend Update comes on, it's click for me. What is the talent from Colin Jost and Michael Che? Reading from a teleprompter? They start laughing at their own stupid jokes and M.Che laughs like before the sketch even starts.
We got a taste of why Rob still says controversial stuff. "No one is stopping female writers from writing funny stuff." This is where the Larry Sanders Show was more honest & brought up what Boys' Clubs truly are. It doesn't have to be conscious. It only requires that Any One Member points out The Change in the group to set off the Lord of the Flies children in all of us. It only requires One Person in the group to think "oh now we can't joke about This Now" to decide in advance that a joke written by the improperly-identified source of This Problem isn't funny.
These are great! Martin Short rocks!

Spot on. Currently on my annual Glick binge as well! There are a few I haven’t run across on TH-cam yet. I’d pay my life savings for access to them.

Those are some dark days between the Glicks.

It probably offended someone somewhere once and now it’s erased from history. The show Little Britain comes to mind.
@@ClassicComedyArchiveI agree this show and tv fun house were absolutely brilliant and you can't even order them on DVD which is really unfortunate.
I’m a comedy lover in Australia. Never seen this character. My loss. Thanks to TH-cam I’m living the dream
We know Martin Short is his own worst enemy.
2024 talking here. Where has Glick been in all my Australian life? One of the funniest characters ever!

Martin Short is a treasure! I think he should revive this character!
Me too! Thanks for watching!
I believe Short is filling in for Jimmy Fallon as Jimminy kinda currently.
Brilliant
Those episodes are hilarious
@@quasimodem5260indeed hilarious
Marin Short has to be the most incredible, creative and under rated comedian that has ever crossed our funny bone.
From Haight Ashbury!
Lol when I was younger I for some reason hated this show so much 😂 but now that I’m older I absolutely love it!! Probably because I understand it now.
Tell me you watch him on sctv. I, like you, didn’t appreciate one of the characters he did at the beginning. Jackie Rogers Jr.
Same boat here! I didn't really listen before. He's brilliant!
So funny. Last night I watched the one with Ice Cube and thought I was gonna die laughing.
Martin Short is a gift from the gods!

GOAT❤
No. Nah, Martin short is annoying. Glick is champagne comedy
I adore comics/guests who put aside their egos to enjoy the experience of the comedy of Martin Short. My fave was Mel Brooks, an icon who just basked!

I feel that cut around 18:41 was necessary either for laughs or because Tim was going to deck him! 😂😂
I watch that intro and all I can think of... "He defecated through a sunroof".

That dancing--- I just cant look away. Martin is still surprising me with 20+ y-o material. Genius. But the dancing, *chef's kiss*
6:20 I remember those terrible days when Rob Schneider was famous enough to actually be on a fake talk show.
I look at this today...and I think...Short knew who Schneider was and had a blast. But he didn't kill him. He just had some fun. Short's a cool guy.
David, who is Schneider? What do you mean "who Schneider was". Didn't kill him?? Am I missing something?
