I think the show would have been better if they had written it as Kosem not loving Ahmed but her children and the people.
@CrimsonAngelWinges - but she did love him? She literally married him. Also, Ahmed wasn't the one to abduct her but Safiye Sultan.
@@icechoc Your right he didn't have her kidnapped, but he did still keep her as a slave and concubine. She didn't really have a say in weather or not she married him. Also historically he kept an active heram that's one of the things that make Suleiman and Hurrem a better relationship to me. Suleiman closed down his heram years before he married Hurrem.
While I can understand that Ahmed didn't like when they make things behind this back , I was come one guy , you can't be innocent in this palace ( except if you want to die) especially when she first din't want to come in the palace and was kidnapped

I might not live in Palace of gems, but my husband never left my side during each of the labors of our children. He was doing pain relief therapy that research has shown significantly reduces contractions' intensity and shortens the labor. My husband was there through it all. I feel so sorry for Kosem. She deserves a much better man.

I don't believe how much unfar Ahmed Sultan was to Anastasia (now kosem) . This man do not know what is love someone. Actually he does not love any girl. This is not love. Sad but true. Seems the same for all the sultans though - Sullieyman was unfair to Mahideverhan & sometimes to Hurrem, Murad was unfair to both Ayse & Farya & Ibrahim was argubly unfair to Turhan. I had the impression though that Prince Mustapha or Prince Bayezid in the original MC may have been different if they had become sultan

The difference between Hurrem and Kosem is that Kosem truly loved Ahmed and her children and wasn't power hungry and had almost no one by her side while she fought some troubles . While Hurrem was hungry for power and pure evil and never loved Suleiman and her children truly but she loved his power and always had Sumbul , Suleiman, Gul Aga, Gulnihal, Nigar and Daye Hatun by her side and she didn't fought alone like Kosem . Kosem was just broken while Hurrem was pure evil . So Kosem was more stronger and more powerful than Hurrem. These are some of the differences between Valide Kosem Sultan and Hurrem Hatun.

I really dislike Hurrem until season 4 in the original MC. But Hurrem redeems herself quite a lot when near the end of her life she goes to Ibrahim Pargali's grave to make peace with him & she asks Mahiderveran for her forgiveness & they then forgive & bless each other - which is a really great scene. Whereas Kosem loses her innocence & mercy quite early, & then (like Safiye) she starts to enjoy the power & adoration & to become quite ruthless. Then by mid season 2, Kosem become evil & more power hungry but this seems mainly due to Murad hurting her by locking up Kasim, causing Geverhan's death, ordering Ayse's execution (without telling Kosem) which leads to the deaths of Kosem's grandchildren and then by changing the succession laws which Kosem knows will cause the deaths of Kasim, Ibrahim & one of Murad's baby princes with Farya. I think Kosem crosses the line & becomes evil when she has Farya & Silahatar murdered, becomes even more evil when she has Ibrahim murdered and she becomes irredeemably evil when she tries to poison sultan Mehmet her 8 year old grandson & she murders Lalezar Kalfa. Whereas Hurrem would not have murdered any of them (well maybe Silahatar). And unlike Hurrem, Kosem remains in denial about her own crimes to the end of her life & sadly never has a redeeming redefining moment like Hurrem shares with Mahideverhan. A difference may be that Hurrem & Mahideverhan are not related and they have a genuine e rivalry over an existential issue whereas Kosem's enemies end up being her own children, loved ones and family members - and much of that enmity could have been avoided.
