He's literally the anti-TV-trope concerning Gay characters as either sexlesss monoliths or 'cute and fluffy' gay. Plus I have to give props to Shonda Rhymes for fighting to have an uber-steamy scene between two men in the *pilot* episode. And even though Connor and Oliver's relationship is pretty trope-worthy, they managed to insert gay 'hook up culture', HIV and PrEP, even homophobia and gay-bashing within that relationship, which are topics that many network TV viewers have never even seen before, let alone talked about.
