I just signed up for a year of Spanish lessons today. It sure looks like it eases travel issues south of Canada and the US. Thanks for inspiring me yet again!
Ah brilliant! I would say that learning some basic Spanish really helped me more than anything else on my trip. It’s not 100% necessary, lots of people do without it and are fine. But it just smoothes a lot of things and made me much more comfortable that I knew even the basics (greetings, where is x, how much is x, numbers, some food). I’d download duolingo and use that for practice a few minutes a day, it’s great for vocabulary and keeping the langauge fresh. Duolingo was absolutely zero help in being able to understand people (or have them understand me) lol, no replacement for actually speaking with someone

That’s a good idea, and one I’ve been thinking about. Any ideas on where to make the map/what app? And how/where to post it?
