I think the reason the HE works better with direct hits is that all the shells have a penetration amount and for HE the code is just messed up a little so that when you hit someone it technically counts as hitting armour and penetrating giving the better effect of HE
Here are 3 extra tips! The 11th Tip for Beginner Tankers... If the first 7 tanks didn't do much to help your team then the 8th tank won't either. This implies an enemy knows how to destroy your armored vehicles and has the capability of doing so. You'll be better off on the ground as Infantry or above in a plane. The 12th Tip for Tankers. AT Mines will wreck you. If you see on the killfeed or you drove over an enemy AT Mine and died, assume the main roads are booby trapped so go around. If this still gets you or your allied tanks killed... refer to Tip 11 here. Tip 13 for the Tankers. If your tank blows up, it will leave a corpse on the battlefield permanently. Bigger heavier tanks can push lighter dead tanks but keep in mind of where you are in your surroundings. You don't want to leave a heavy dead tank at a chokepoint, preventing your allied tanks from fully supporting your team.
My crews keeps getting shuffled around to different positions, seemingly randomly. Armed my whole crew with binoculars but find that they often are not selectable.

2 tips I can think of right off the top of my head. One pertains exclusively to Normandy. When facing a German puma tank. A high explosive round (works with anything but the Stewart) over the front wheel will detonate the ammo rack and kill it immediately. AP rounds tend to go straight through and do very little damage. Also a high-explosive rounds tip. If you were shooting at a wall that enemies are running by. Aim between chest to head level to get maximum dispersion of fragmentation. If you aim at the ground you will get less kills. Try to save your HE rounds for groups not solo targets.
Another good tip is, if you are against a much better tank (both armor and gun wise), don't try to kill him. Shoot for tracks to immobilize him and pick off his crew as he tries to repair the tank. Or relocate to a position from where you can destroy his tank. Example: You are in a Puma against a Jumbo. Jumbo is a lot better armored and its gun is very deadly. However, the turret traverse is quite slow, so you can use your speed to get on its side and shoot it under its tracks, where his ammo is stored, so it is mostly a one shot kill.
Good vid. One tip I think you could have included is utilizing the practice range to figure out weak spots for different factions and with different guns. I think this is vital if you want to actually be a good tanker to intrinsically know where to aim at specific tanks. Against certain factions like the high level Russian tanks in Moscow you will most likely never figure it out in time before you get killed unless you have had some time down range in the Practice mode.
Indeed. I had spent a whole afternoon in practice range just to figure out how to effectively destroy KV-1 and T-34, before starting to grind Stalingrad Axis campaign. It really worth the time and helps me a lot in bringing my team to win matches XD.
Angling is also something you could cover. I feel like it's common knowledge to Warthunder and Enlisted players but it can make a big difference in a fight. Or just the awareness if I go out from cover of this building and the enemy is at 90 degrees or horizontal from me down the street I'm most likely gonna get one shot over edging out at a 20 degree angle I'm most likely gonna ricocheted their shell and have a chance to retaliate after.

I use the kill feeds to find out whether a tank is in the area, doubly helpful when you are in a plane, what i havent mastered is identifying tanks, i only know that 88mm comes from a Tiger while 75mm comes from Panther, Pz IVs and Shermans while 37mm comes from the Puma and Stuarts. Also am guessing this is rare but you never mentioned about AT mines being a bane. If players like myself place AT mines along the roads tanks almost always to runs into them, doubly so with maps that are urban warfare.
Very good video. Plenty of useful tips. Something else I recommend is to go to practice mode to get a better sense of weak spots and to pay attention to the diagrams of enemy tanks when you damage them. They can tell you where the ammo racks are.
I personally think the HE's larger explosion when making contact with an enemy is based off of their hitbox not blocking the area of damage, that and the mechanics of the ai where they stay grouped up. so in reality the explosion isn't bigger, its just not shrunk by its surroundings. Of course I could be wrong, and this is Gaijin encouraging us to commit war crimes, but I guess we'll never know...
tip for Normandy players if u see 114mm rocket, u know its a calliope, if u dont have a tiger or a panther around, either use ur bf109 or any plane with forward facing guns to pepper the rocket rack on said calliope, it will detonate them same goes for the german rocket half track, dont have tanks or lack det packs? call in a friendly p38 to spray that boi or rocket it idk for me im a sky camper in a bf109G10 and i constantly look for any rocket muzzle flashes that come from the sherman calliope and i see one, that guy is not gonna have a good time if shit hits the roof, build a concealed 20mm flak or a heavy machine gun (m2 browning and mg131) to spray the rocket racks, the light machine guns work too but its a lengthy process
To piggy back on having certain rounds loaded. HE rounds against certain light armor does best than AP. So if your in Tunisia and team spamming AB41s you can keep HE loaded, because HE will usually 1 shot them, unlike AP that will pass right through them. Same can be said for puma also.
I hate to admit it but I desperately need this. Infantry, planes, even mortars of all things I'm decent with. I never even waste time spawning my tank squad anymore because I'm so terrible with it. I have no idea what I'm doing lol. Not the tanks fault either panzer 4J. Glad to see this.
I've noticed that shrapnel is simulated. Or at least I believe it to be. If you ricochet a round off a wall the rebounding shrapnel will shred enemies. Also if you hit the deck during a mortar strike or an air strike your chances of surviving are greatly increased. Hitting a soldier with HE and killing 10-12 guys makes sense then as the shrapnel is full 360 of the target as opposed to a 180 spread of a hard surface.
Well, i actually didnt know that shooting directly at the infantry would cause more damage but now that you mentionned it, i can remember killing loads of enemies with only one shot because i shot directly at them. As always, great vid ! Love your content ! 😁
There are many more secrets: Do you know the train in the armour train mode isn't as thick as it looks? This means if you shoot your solid round directly into and along the train's length, the round would penetrate into the containers and kill any infantry along its path. Even the 20mm cannon mounted on the top of the train can penetrate and kill the infantry inside.
Really not a fan of the new layout of the main screen. While a few things are clearer many commonly needed areas seem more clicks away than they were and less easy to get the information you need. For example not being able to go to battle from the Squad tab and no obvious symbol to show if you have completed an upgrade tree without having to click on it.
Tankers don’t have to worry about the infantry killing them since the update bazookers and anything that is shoulder fired is either bouncing off flat armour fly straight through the tank or hitting invisible walls before it can get to the tank the update has broken more than it had fixed
It feels like after they made it that explosive packs are harder to throw, infantry AT became very annoying in late war campaigns. Especially in low tier normandy where you only have the fcking sturmpistol and PIAT for a very long time. It's not even the weapons themselves just Darkflow's incompetence and lack of polish.
I love your videos, and this one has also been helpful for me who is trying to figure out how to actually make use of the tanks before I get killed. One thing for you, though. I noticed that your voice in many of your videos, this one included, are quite low in volume. I'm not sure if its just a settings issue while recording, or something else. Hm others have said this too. On my end, I never seem too quiet but perhaps I should reupload with higher volume. If I can ask, are you watching on desktop or mobile?
@Quadro I just watched this and noticed the sound on a PC. Playing it on just my phone has the volume a little better, but still lower than if I put something else on. I am also relistening to this now on my truck's Bluetooth (a Uconnect) and the volume is about as low as the PC. I can blast the volume to hear it better, but it's at 20/50 which would be quite loud for music comparably.

i actually dislike the hate console players get. I think good players are good players, regardless of platform. Maybe console players are on average worse, but that doesn't mean anyone should just assume a console player is worse. I've seen a lot of really terrible PC players and some really good console players. Enlisted isn't counter strike, you dont need a mouse to aim accurately and get the job done.
Thanks for the video. I've been trying to get more comfortable with vehicles but I can't tell a good tank/plane from a bad one, and am only level 20ish in my highest campaign, Normandy. Are there specific vehicles in that campaign you prefer?
I rarely pop out of hatch non only because i am most often on cannoner view but also feel unsafe as when i see tank commander out of hatch i kill thrm most of the time as they are priority to me
The longest I've been alive in a tank was a whole match a few times but typically 10 minutes is my life sometimes I get swamped but the longest I've been out of a commanders hatch was 7 minutes mowing players down
What about the tank crew? Most of them are equipped with pistols/revolvers by default, but I guess it's better to arm them with submachine guns. Here's my question - which crew members "must be" armed with automatic gun?

Good thing to know is the tanks of your enemy, if I am facing a tiger 2 I will pull my t-34-85 into a support position and try to cover someone as they approach it with a panzerfaust. Knowing your strengths and weaknesses as well as enemy's will greatly assist you. One tip for tankers, research backpack so you can have multiple repair kits or medikits to assist you.

@@vanja2565 you don't need to go around, there's 2 weakspots on the front, mg port and turret, The toxic way to kill them is to shoot their barrel and tracks then switch to he to kill their crew if they get out to repair
Call arty where enemy will come to objective I got 12kills yesterday with that but you need to know the map to call them effectively In normandy there are some buildings that block your arty so use bombing run on those positions
calling in artillery in front of the objective (or mortar rounds) will halt any push. But generally theyre better for attacking for sure. Smoke can help you out when counter attacking an objective too
Another Tip for you is that since Tanks can cause a lot of smoke or fumes from their fume exhuast or engines, you would most likely guess that theres a tank around, or tall trees being crushed down as long theres no explosions that will cause the tree to fall before the tank appears, this gives a hint of the postion of the tank.

You forgot the binoculars tactic for commanders. They can be used for long range combat for accurate mg fire and shots.
Dont forget, its also useful to spot enemy positions, routes, AT positions or even Tanks in the field

Great video, but as an Axis Main i dont think the MG-Rifle is your Main Weapon. The MG on Axis Tanks Overheats extremly fast.

If you buy premium your I get access to one extra slot for infantry and vehicle, it also let you buy extra slots for a maximum (I guess) of 10 squads.

@@vanja2565 you don't need to go around, there's 2 weakspots on the front, mg port and turret,
The toxic way to kill them is to shoot their barrel and tracks then switch to he to kill their crew if they get out to repair

Radio and Mortar squads are good for offense, but how would one use them in defense?
Call arty where enemy will come to objective I got 12kills yesterday with that but you need to know the map to call them effectively In normandy there are some buildings that block your arty so use bombing run on those positions
calling in artillery in front of the objective (or mortar rounds) will halt any push. But generally theyre better for attacking for sure. Smoke can help you out when counter attacking an objective too

Another Tip for you is that since Tanks can cause a lot of smoke or fumes from their fume exhuast or engines, you would most likely guess that theres a tank around, or tall trees being crushed down as long theres no explosions that will cause the tree to fall before the tank appears, this gives a hint of the postion of the tank.
