      Yup! Nixon mis-timed his jump. Should have taken one more step and the catch would have been a lot easier to make. And THAT's why Nixon never makes the roster and why Cunningham will.

      @@user-qe3wt3yc4y No surprise. If this were MLB, Nixon would be called a AAAA player. Too good for AAA but not good enough for the pros. Nixon is almost good. But when he has to make a real NFL play, like this one, he muffs it. And he's been doing this since he came to the Pats and not getting better. Perfect practice squad player because he knows all the routes and no one will pick him up when he becomes available because everyone knows who he is by now. Unlike Boutte who WILL get picked up if they try to put him on the PS.

    Malik is fast and shifty. He's way too fast to be left off this roster and can be used in multiple schemes as a versatile weapon, running QB, screens, short passes, option QB, 3rd downs, running time off the clock all runs to get 1st down, trick plays.... I'm keeping Malik

      With the modern NFL & Taysom Hill, coaches are now a lot more willing to just have freak athletes on the squad & find them something to do, i'm sure Bill can find a package of plays for him that stress defenses on his freak athleticism alone. He might not have an NFL starting QB arm but it's good enough that he's a legitimate threat to throw if he's in there on 3rd/4th & short & hopefully he can make himself enough $ to have a comfortable life

      Can’t make this up! Funny how with certain QBs it’s “just preseason” when trying to downplay what they did. Or with the coddled QBs that look a certain way the whole “it’s just preseason” is applied to deflect blame like with Stroud. Or like here with Cunningham the whole “it’s just preseason” notion doesn’t apply.

    • @Malachi-Rhodes
      @Malachi-Rhodes ปีที่แล้ว +5

      They nearly came back and beat the Bengals with Mac and Matt Patricia as the OC. They normally play the Chiefs well. You don't need a Malik Cunningham style QB to be successful in this league. What you need is a competent offense.

    • @Malachi-Rhodes
      @Malachi-Rhodes ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @DanHook-ke7gk Yes, and Mac is just as mobile as Burrow and Mahomes. He ran a faster 40 than Mahomes. What you are referring to are dual threat QBs like Lamar and Allen. These would be Malik Cunningham type QBs. You don't need a dual threat QB to be successful in the league. In fact, those types of QB tend to have less success than more Mac jones type QB.

    • @Malachi-Rhodes
      @Malachi-Rhodes ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @DanHook-ke7gk Yeah, Mac Jones type QBs might have more failures simply because there tend to be a lot of them over the last few decades. But at the same time, they still tend to be more successful and dominate the league. When was the last time that type of QB even won the superbowl. Mac type QBs tend to win more superbowls and MVPs than Malik Cunningham types. Also, I never said Mac was a better runner than Mahomes. Just that Mac is just as mobile as Mahomes and thar he ran a faster 40 than Mahomes. So I don't know where you got that from.

I played qb i know about getting into rhythm and blah blah blah. you absolutely do it! why? even if its 2 plays a game that defense has to prepare for both offensive schemes in a week of practice. Pats win most the time through scheme and this a huge advantage not allowing a defense to prepare fully. same reason we have so many interchangeable parts defensively. If you have 2 nose tackles you have none too? how about mapu? we should just leave him on the bench and not utilize versatility? I'm guessing Malik makes the team as a WR/ST/QB3, and if Mac struggles or gets injured he gets the call over Zappe. If there's an injury, Zappe probably goes in that game just because of scheme and how Zappe and Mac are more similar players that Mac and Malik, but given a week or so to prepare a game plan that fits Malik, I bet he would end up the starter in that scenario. Thats all assuming he doesn't become a productive receiver or special teamer, because atheticly the kid is a freak and he definitely has the tools to be a guy in the NFL.

      Also if he’s QB3 they can’t just throw him in if Mac is hurt, The rules are if both QB’s get hurt, That would be the only way he gets in. With the new rules QB3 can’t just come in, they can have 3 of them dress but it would take Mac and Zappe getting hurt, they won’t add him as a WR with Douglas and Boutte being good. Cunningham, in particular, did not make a single mistake to many of the other rookie quarterbacks who were used in the first game of the preseason. The throw to Nixon was his best throw. Nixon should have caught that one. If Cunningham maintains that performance, he'll likely become the new No. 2 behind Jones. And we all know that Bill focuses on the run game and the short passing game to minimize turnovers. Of course, what QB style of play would fit best? Exactly, a QB who can create plays. Bill didn't come out as a Lamar fan for nothing.

    Everyone looking for the next Brock Purdy. The late round QB that is effective and efficient enough in the offensive system, so the team can save $30+ million at the QB position so they can pay one or two more stars at other positions. As a 49er fan, I’m super happy we have Purdy for 2 more years at under a million so we can resign all of our stud defenders.
