People often say that pressing is one of Brian's weaknesses, but when it comes to Dumbell he's always been world class. I think it's because of how tactical and meticulous he is with how he approaches each event; he's got amazing form on the dumbbell to be sure

Just took me back as well i remember shaw being not only the underdog but kinda didn't have a chance but it was just cause he was so young he came a long way but after years of watching i kinda forget who my favorite from usa was before him seeing poundstone is bringing it all back
It's hard to say. I think Big Z, taking into account everything, has to be top. His accomplishments are unsurpassed. But Brian is right up there. 4x WSM, 3x Arnold's winner. We also forget that he tied with Z in WSM 2010, but lost on countback. A super huge, super strong guy with incredible longevity, and a true pro. A great, no question. Maybe top 3, all-time.

I saw Paul Anderson back in '68 press a 300 pound dumbbell 8 times right handed and 6 times left handed. The dumbbell had 12 twenty five pound plates. He pressed the weight strict....without using his legs to jerk it up.
I am a fan boy so take that as you will, but I definitely agree. His form in performance was impeccable and looked easy. Even his deadlift was monstrous.

It's so hard to answer that question because it's a sport and one that requires a million different variables, that being said... Yes, Brian Shaw is the strongest man to ever do it. And would have 5 WSM titles if his tie breaker would have been settled the same way that they are today. It's wild that he would have 5 titles if that tie would have happened today. He's fun to watch and I thoroughly enjoy his TH-cam channel as well.

Z greatest ever but that doesn't make you the strongest and its impossible to see properly considering we never got to see Thor against them in his absolute prime. I am looking at how they get the weight from the floor to the shoulder. ...need to learn that technique for a tricep exercise I do. I have the strength to do seated, behind the back tricept extensions with more than 100 pounds. The problem is I have maxed out at 95 pounds because I can not get 100 pounds or more up to my shoulder. My usual way to get the weight up is to set the weight on the chair on its side. Then stand beside it, lift it off the chair, sit down with the weight on my leg. Then push with leg and roll the weight up to my shoulder. I max out with 95. Sometimes I can get someone to hold the weight up for me and let me sit down and extend my arms up under it. Then I can do 100 or 105 - the best so far. I think I could go heavier if I could get a helper more often. It takes a really big/strong guy to do that and we don't have that many at our gym. So if I can use the technique in this video then maybe I can clean 100 pounds or more to my shoulder and then sit down with it. Any suggestions on how to do the technique in this video well ?
