I think I prefer the Bleeding thing as opposed to the synthetic crystals. It makes it more of a right of passage for a sith, much like how finding a crystal and constructing a lightsaber is a right of passage for a jedi.
I actually like both. Making a saber is cool, forcing a crystal to bleed is vicious! It gives the sith a choice... make one or break take and corrupt one.
I like the new origin. It gives meaning to the saber and shows how truly powerful and ruthless Vader and the sith can be to be able to kill a Jedi and corrupt a kyber crystal.
"What happens if there are no more Jedi to be found? Do new sith just not a get a light saber?" this is a question some else asked, but i am now asking you.
GoAwayGoogle you know, that is a good question and I’m not entirely sure. But the sith have always been resourceful so I’m sure they’d find a way. Perhaps they take them from Jedi that have been already killed or they forge their new sabers as the Jedi do.
@@joshshiemke4153 ik you might not read this since its 2 years ago but i think if there was no jedi there will be no sith since they really work together as good and evil no good means just evil but since the sith need the jedi for somethings then they will go away but in future generations the force would come back splitting people as good and bad again
I can see why the origin was changed. Vader just... building a new one is mundane and boring. The idea of Sith having to hunt down and pop their "Dead Jedi" cherry is much more interesting. It also means that for every armed Sith we see, that means there's definitely one less Jedi in the galaxy which calls the balance of the Force into question
Honestly it just seems like it's for the sake of edge. With the original universe sith used artificial crystals simply they because they made for more intense lightsaber beams than the usual jedi fare. Saying "oh he has to pour his hate, his ANGER into a jedi's crystal" ignores WHY would he have to take said crystal from a jedi? Both jedi and and sith sync their "force" with their crystal, this new origin is just for the sake of portraying the antagonists pissing on graves really >_>.
The idea is cooler sure but the practicality of doing this is not. Does that mean every time I break a lightsaber as a Sith, I have to hunt down another Jedi, kill him and forcefully turn his crystal? It probably won't happen often but I don't doubt its happens. I also have to get pretty lucky and find a Jedi who isn't attached by the hip to his partner and then proceed to kill him without a lightsaber. Kill the guy with a glowing energy sword that slices through metal like a hot knife through butter with my bare hands and the force (which he can use just as well). See the problem.
Sith walk around with their Masters so the numbers are even. Plus, Star Wars is all about balance with the Force so I imagine the number of Sith and Jedi (and consequently the amount of Light and Dark side) balances out despite this system. For example, one way might be that very few Jedi a) fall to the Dark Side in the first place, b) succeed in killing a Jedi or c) fully go through with corrupting the crystal (Vader was pushed back)
Except three words; Rule of Two. I don't know if they still keep this rule in the new EU but the rule is essentially; there is only ever One Master and One Student. Never shall there be more than that. When the Student Surpasses the Master, he will take the Masters place and continue the Line. We can assume that they are still holding it to some degree in the comics because we still only every see Darth and Palp but I don't know if they kept it. Also, there was no 'balance' between the literal forces (as in ground troops) the Light and the DarkSide in this era of Star Wars. Its the reason why the Jedi are so skeptical of the Sith's return in the prequels, because they were (as they believed) wiped out.
The bleeding process sounds more like what a Sith would do. They prove themselves worthy to the dark side and in doing so show that they are stronger than the Jedi.
+Mariquis Flora I know that this is knew Lore but weren't there more Sith before this? Before Palpatine? Does the new canon not have stories about before the prequel trilogy or is Disney only covering where the movies work in?
Mariusweeddeath Yes but the old republic war happening so jedi died all the time and after that the war between jedi and Sith continues after the rule of two. Bleeding still makes sense. Even post original trilogy a new jedi order was formed in legends and Canon. Sith have always had jedi to steal crystals from. Even after the purge only palpatine and Vader exist and palpatine already had one. So Vader just needed one jedi
i like what the new story has done with the crystals because it makes them far more significant. they arent just rocks but actual living being with a connection to the force.
I think it should be a mix or red crystals being very rear so they made synthetic ones at the height of the Sith. But after the Jedi "wiped them out" and took control of how the crystals are mined/made the Sith resorted to the bleeding process.
The bleeding process is cooler because it reinforces how Sith need to,commit to the dark side and to control the force, but the old one had a better thematic connection with the whole "nature vs tech"theme of the series. Hard to say.
The sith had to commit plenty to the dark side because ya know "non-commital" sith were at best ignored (something that usually pisses off a sith who's not actively trying to hide), at worst promptly murdered by the nearest jedi at the first sign of justification.
The original red crystal story is more understandable because it would be easy to change the color if the crystals are more artificial as well change the crystal power output.
I would have told him his ship was illegally parked and he has to pay 20,000 credits to get his vehicle back and to pay for damages. We accept visa and master card.
I like the idea that synthetic crystals were the ones used during the old republic while later they learned that bleeding would make them "stronger" so they later went to that
let me guess you had your widdle fweeing hurt that all your ridiculous fan theories meant nothing well to bad snow flake this was the best star wars movie since empire
The comic specifically says it has to be a jedi crystal so they can turn it. If they could just grab any crystal there wouldn’t really be a purpose for the new method besides being edgy.
Personally, I really like the new kyber crystal lore. It makes a lot more sense to me that the colour is caused by the user than their "role" in the Jedi Order or even making synthetic ones that somehow match perfectly with organic kyber crystals save for their connection to the dark side.
Beast tried to cure his mutation and it caused him to mutate more. Beast has a natural mutation and an unnatural mutation. Emma Frost has a secondary mutation, she would be the better person to use as an example for your question.
I hope they keep Leia’s unforgiving attitude towards a “redeemed” Anakin, “Just because you had a few moments of clarity doesn’t excuse a lifetime of terror, and destruction, and death.
While bleeding the crystal is more badass, yes, I prefer the idea of synthetic crystals. It just makes things easier if you ask me. Plus, in my opinion, it gives the idea that you can force a color on the crystal.
personally i prefer the legends origin. it was simple, but it did its job. the new origin just seems impractical. What we need for this new origin is a source (movie, book, etc.) to set up why it is like this in a more proper way. What sith started this, why didn't they just use synthetic crystals, and in the case of special lightsaber(s) how was that handled. Darth Maul and Count Dooku have very unique lightsabers, identical twin curved hilt blades in Dooku's case. How were those cases handled, they obviously didn't just steal another jedi's lightsaber as they needed 2 crystals a piece. Tl;DR the new origin impractical and produces too many oddities, if not holes, in canon star wars lore. The Legends origin, although simple, does the job with out producing any oddities or holes.
So then what’s the cannon origin for darth mauls lightsaber I know origanally he meditates for over a month to create them but I can’t find a new canon explanation for it
Do'in Stuff With James I would assume maul had his lightsaber constructed like any other jedi saber do to the fact that it would be extremely impractical to kill a jedi while he is supposed to be in hiding.
Dooku had his own lightsaber and probably he collected some of them which he later gave to Ventress and Savage. Ben Solo killed like half of his fellow students, but as for Maul and Sidious - well we should assume that they had ,,pure" or ,,used" kyber crystals from the black market. Rebels Maul - he probably killed an inquisitor and inquisitors were former padawans and low level jedi knights.
It would probably be seen as either cheating, or weak for the sith to just buy a kyber crystal. I doubt sidious would do that. It wouldn't be hard, find some jedi in the outrim and frame some pirates. There are more jedi than sith after all
Maul's first Jedi kill happened when he already had his saberstaff. Since he was such a hateful, aggressive beast we can assume Palp didn't wanted him to run around killing Jedi. Or maybe Palpatine killed few Jedi's in his youth, or maybe even Plagueis had a collection.
I honestly like the new cannon on Kyber crystals, with the bleeding process, but they didn't discuss that the bleeding process can be reversed and produces a white lightsaber. Ahsoka Tano dual wielded white lightsabers that she purified.
Yeah artificial crystals vs the idea that they have to be taken and force-fully corrupting it while killing the previous wielder in essence enslaving and constantly harming the crystals yeah that's far better
I think the new one is a little better since closer to a coming of age thing where once the sith apprentice is ready to be taught in the powers of the dark side they must first destroy a light side showing that the darkness will always overcome the jedi
ehh, just seems like an easy way for a sith to get caught. Sith were always about betrayal and sneaking around. Killing a jedi just to prove one self seems way too out of place for such a secretive group.
It makes sense if it were some sort of personal ritual for a specific dark jedi. Darth Maul for example would be a fitting character for this sort of special Light Saber.
I think the original line best suits their care for killing, as it revokes any spiritual influence. Though, I like the new one more, since it shows their spiritual corruption.
I do like the concept of the crystals being alive, and Sith just essentially make them bleed for their red lightsaber. But them going out killing Jedi, stealing their sabers; contradicts the whole "We must stay hidden" thing. And I also, just really like Legends: "Just use synthetic crystals, christ! Stop being so dramatic Jedis . . ." take on the thing.
oh no he had is crystals given to him but sideous but out of sheer pride he hunted down and killed a padawan that was kidnapped by slavers and no one was the wiser because he killed the slavers too
If you guys were actually fans instead of just regurgitating hate for the new cannon, you’s know it’s “Legends” not “Legacy”. There is so much blind hate saying “Disney ruined Star Wars” but Disney has nothing to do with the creative process when it comes to Star Wars, aside from choosing directors
The original origin is better, IMHO. A Sith going out and killing a Jedi for their lightsaber is really...impractical. They risk death and exposing themselves to the Jedi every time they do that. Not too mention that such methods are a dime a dozen in numerous other fictions and it honestly just seems like a lazy ploy to make the Disney Sith seem badass. It also robs the Sith of being in a more grey area makes them sound plain evil. So really, it just shows Disney over simplifying the concept in Star Wars of how being attuned to the Light or Dark Side didn't automatically make you good or evil. Many argued that it was all about intent. The original works better because it shows how the Sith don't care about the natural order as the synthetic crystals are easier for them to modify. It also ties into the Sith's philosophy of wanting to be in control of everything. Can't make the regular one work because it rebels? Forget it and replace it with something that can be used for their ends.
I agree with everything until "It also robs the Sith of being in a more grey area". Sith were never a grey area, maybe the race, but Dark Jedi were always as the name implied... Dark Jedi... Evil jedi. They gain power from pain, anger, suffering, stuff evil people would gain power from. There was at least one book where a fathers fear for his kids gave a sith enough strength to fend off lethal poison and bring the sith back from the brink of death. You're thinking of grey jedi in the grey area.
There is nothing in the Sith philosophy that truly deems them evil. They simply believe in a survival of the fittest mentality. The strong live and thrive, the weak die. The end justifies the means. However, it is up to the individual for how they go about it. Pain, hatred, anger...these things exist in life. Everyone experiences them. The Sith have simply chosen to draw on these things and fine tune them into power. However, that did not preclude them from feeling happiness, love or even friendship. Darth Vectivus was a fully fledged Sith Lord who did nothing horrid or disgusting, furthered his understanding of the Dark Side and the Galaxy and then died surrounded by friends of family. The Sith you’re speaking of is Darth Bane. He did that because he was unable to purge the poison on his own. Had he been able to do that, he’d have never resorted to such a display, in the first place. Darth Plaugeis also falls into this kind of mentality. Ruthless, yes. Violent, when the situation called for. But only when those traits served a purpose. The gray area I’m talking about is the fact that you can have Sith with many interpretations of their teachings and philosophies. Many of whom who are wise and even enlightened beings with some form of standards and/or morals, even if they’re removed from the norm. Yet, by creating this way of getting their lightsabers, it retroactively taints all the Sith as out and out murderers from the get-go and destroys the wiggle room to create many different kinds of Sith for many different kinds of stories. My point is that not all Sith were like Sidious, who is considered Evil Incarnate. Who would kill and torture because he found the suffering of others to be amusing. This comic is trying to shove all of that down the tubes.
TresBS1 they feed off of pain and suffering, not only their own but also the pain and suffering of others. That alone makes them evil, but then you get deeper into it and they only seem more and more evil. " However, that did not preclude them from feeling happiness, love or even friendship" it does not, but the deception and deceit makes these things very short lived. Darth Bane loved someone, she betrayed him and poisoned him, he killed her, most of the sith, and a big chunk of that Jedi Army. Bane didn't want to be poisoned, but that does not make him not evil. You have to remember what Bane did later threatening to kill that old mans daughter after the old man hurt himself in an attempt to stop this powerful sith who could and very well might hill him after he helps the sith. "The gray area I’m talking about is the fact that you can have Sith with many interpretations of their teachings and philosophies. " This retcon does nothing to change what the sith were other than making them out to be very short sighted and stupid. "My point is that not all Sith were like Sidious, who is considered Evil Incarnate. Who would kill and torture because he found the suffering of others to be amusing. " Uhh that kind of IS the sith. Palpatine is one of the lighter high powerful beings in the sith. Darth Vitiate drained all of the force from a planet and basically killed all life and the force on the planet. He bent others to his will and used them like RC cars. Vitiate did this while ruling another Empire in another Galaxy through one of his RC car people. Darth Malgus attempted to betray his Emperor but quickly discovered how frightening Vitiate is and betrayed those he had been plotting with so the Emperor would see him as worth keeping alive. Vitiate Gave this man immortality, this immortality is however not the nice kind, it is constant suffering, Tell me again the sith have never shown flat out how evil they are. There are more instances of this, but i'm too lazy look for ones i don't know off the top of my head.
you kind of do have to be a horrible person to be a dark jedi. It is the very nature of the dark side. They can twist and corrupt nature to cause chaos. they keep slaves and are not the nicest of people to these slaves. Just look at any story featuring a sith to see how horrible they are as people. I challenge you to find me even a single instance of a "good" act a sith has done.
No it’s implying that you don’t need to steal the crystal to bleed it, it’s just the sith way. I’m sure if they had no more Jedi they would just make their own.
to me its not that sith have to take a crystal and can't just use any crystal, its just more of a ceremony or what not to affirm their following the dark side, but I can still see them using artificial crystals cause eventually someone going to the dark side isn't going to know of the old traditions
ahhhhh Benny always washes over details and I can't help but feel some crucial details were ignored. Because technically from what was said in the video, Vader just needs to "bleed" his own personal pain into the crystal. So he could technically acquire a normal crystal, make his own lightsaber, and bleed his pain into the crystal to make it red. In this way the lightsaber isn't "given" but it is not "taken" either. And the whole pain and bleeding theme is still there. I'm guessing that crystals for lightsabers are rare and with the destruction of the jedi order, crystal became hard to find as well. So it was easier to find and kill a remaining Jedi than it was to go excavating for a crystal.
In some cases yes a forged cyztal works but i like the darker kill a jedi one better because they are always talking about the balance of the force which with jedi dieing it unbalances the force.
Daemon Blackfyre Yes, the training droid asked if they wanted to blow the bridge with Vader on it, ending it amd Vader there. Due to the Arrogance of the Jedi, he says no. P.S. tough go of it on the Redgrass field there, but damn close I'd say.
I like the Sith quest idea. SPOILER--- I do wish the story was Vader tracking down Mace Windu to finish him off and take his saber. Mace could have easily been shown as surviving that window mess and going into hiding. I have always felt his character's death was less than it should have been.
I always want to see the Star Wars Comics not just cause there is a movie I still consider the old once to be canon do no care what Disney says This quite nice

I think the original line best suits their care for killing, as it revokes any spiritual influence. Though, I like the new one more, since it shows their spiritual corruption.
Merry Christmas comicstorian
I liked the original version of how the Sith made their sabers. It made more sense with history of the Sith lore.
Yeah.... all that lore? Disney said fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck that. This is the new lore.
The new process is more interesting, but the old one makes more sense
I like the new origin of Vader's saber more
I do like the concept of the crystals being alive, and Sith just essentially make them bleed for their red lightsaber.
But them going out killing Jedi, stealing their sabers; contradicts the whole "We must stay hidden" thing.
And I also, just really like Legends: "Just use synthetic crystals, christ! Stop being so dramatic Jedis . . ." take on the thing.
So I assume maul had to kill a jedi too. Why did they not know of him. I know retcon.
oh no he had is crystals given to him but sideous but out of sheer pride he hunted down and killed a padawan that was kidnapped by slavers and no one was the wiser because he killed the slavers too
If you guys were actually fans instead of just regurgitating hate for the new cannon, you’s know it’s “Legends” not “Legacy”. There is so much blind hate saying “Disney ruined Star Wars” but Disney has nothing to do with the creative process when it comes to Star Wars, aside from choosing directors
Where is the ghost rider storylines
Really? Enlighten me then.
This retcon does nothing to change what the sith were other than making them out to be very short sighted and stupid.
Vitiate Gave this man immortality, this immortality is however not the nice kind, it is constant suffering,
Tell me again the sith have never shown flat out how evil they are.
I challenge you to find me even a single instance of a "good" act a sith has done.
beautiful
I like the original a lot more. What happens if there are no more Jedi to be found? Do new sith just not a get a light saber?
Bruce Moore Rule of two only palpatine and Vader. What other Sith?
Dooku, Maul and Ventress come to mind.
No it’s implying that you don’t need to steal the crystal to bleed it, it’s just the sith way. I’m sure if they had no more Jedi they would just make their own.
I wonder if you can smoke kyber crystals.
Hey comicstorian, will you do the legends Star Wars comics series?
I like your videos. If you can, please continue to do a video for each Star Wars TPB that is released.
The light of a Saber needs to be in pain. Like life force in change to death force.
How many jedi died so a sith could get a red lightsaber? And what happens if the bleeding process fails?
Not enough
#savethejedi
#jedilivesmatter
Reverse Dipper Pines it will turn purple
you can see in vision of alternative version what can happen. So basically Sith become a good guy. :)
MAJOR SPOILERS do not scroll down
The bleeding process is perfectly brutal.
Its so cool. I want more Star Wars especially around Christmas :3
to me its not that sith have to take a crystal and can't just use any crystal, its just more of a ceremony or what not to affirm their following the dark side, but I can still see them using artificial crystals cause eventually someone going to the dark side isn't going to know of the old traditions
Good thing it was water Instead of sand
9:33 Holy... Jedi guy has two right hands lol
I think the new way is better
So what happen with Kenobi?? What did he do
ahhhhh Benny always washes over details and I can't help but feel some crucial details were ignored.
I love the new one, it makes more sense
In some cases yes a forged cyztal works but i like the darker kill a jedi one better because they are always talking about the balance of the force which with jedi dieing it unbalances the force.
Please tell me I'm not only one who heard maybe about 1:00 in he said banner instead of vader
Yup fat deadpool said banner
That Jedi gave Vader an L. At this time in Vader's life, that Master Jedi could have killed him.
Daemon Blackfyre Yes, the training droid asked if they wanted to blow the bridge with Vader on it, ending it amd Vader there. Due to the Arrogance of the Jedi, he says no.
P.S. tough go of it on the Redgrass field there, but damn close I'd say.
This is awesome! Only question is are these troopers or clones?
original because I already knew how they're made and it's much much more cooler
I actually got a starwars ad at the start of the video😂
If someone spoils the new starwars, report them as spam.
jon peiter why can tho
jon peiter Chewbacca gets eaten
7:40 this Jedi hair style seems similar with Rey's in The Last Jedi.
hey benny i have been watching your videos for some time know and i was wondering if you could cover the cancer verse thanks benny
I like the Sith quest idea. SPOILER--- I do wish the story was Vader tracking down Mace Windu to finish him off and take his saber. Mace could have easily been shown as surviving that window mess and going into hiding. I have always felt his character's death was less than it should have been.
I like this bleeding effect better.
Great story
I always want to see the Star Wars Comics not just cause there is a movie
I still consider the old once to be canon do no care what Disney says
This quite nice
I like the idea of synthetic crystals better.
4:23 Stormtroopers? There were bloody Clone Troopers
Why was the 16th video in this playlist deleted?
starwars Sunday!
It's legends not legacy. Legacy is a star wars comic series.
