Ok, I couldn't have found a more perfect video. While my kit is mostly catering to social media / studio content creation, music photography has been a budding hobby and I've followed you on IG for a while since you work with some of my favorite bands. So to see this video from you, especially as I'm making the switch from Canon to Sony, was LITERALLY exactly what I needed. Thank you!!
Seriously thank you for sharing this!! It gave me the biggest relief knowing that I have the right gear for live music photog. And that I’m working as best as I can with what I have. We have some similar gear (though I’m using canon instead) and just knowing that I’m in the right boat is huge. Thank you for sharing your setup with us!!
Dont have the budget for a camera like that but any other recommendations that could be comparable to the Sony 7 1? and what is the model of the flash you use?
Absolutly love seeing the behind the scene insists from a truly great working concert photographer! I would be very interested in a video showing/explaining how you use your flash for the behind the scene portraits that you make. Awesome work!
This means more than you know. Thanks for watching! Will for sure look into trying to make a video like that moving forward! Thanks for the suggestion ✌️
Thank u for all ur vidoes i love all the pics in thos vide i have to say you have gotten the best pics of green day i have ever seen i love them so much and. Ofc the pics of panic are amzing
Thanks for sharing this! Would these recs apply to low light concert videography too? I make music with code, usually in the dark and projecting lots of animations kinda like strobe lights. Some people have recommended me the a7iii, but if I can get the job done with the a1 that would be great
@@alvaro.makes.music1 Yes the a1 is a lot more expensive than a7iii. A7Rii may work or even look into something cheaper like a a6300/a6400 or canon 750d/800d perhaps with some good low aperture lenses. I'm going to test in the coming months with a rx100 vii as I need something to start portfolio and then get passes etc from there and upgrade gear when I can afford. Or I could look into getting lenses for my 750d I already have owned since 2016
Hi Jake, great work, can I ask as the A1 has a 50mp resolution, does it effect your concert photography work flow with file size ? At the moment I shoot gigs with a Lumix S1 24mp and a typical night would average 600 or so images I've cut down on the numbers. Thanks. A
this was fucking awesome. couldn't be more helpful. i will master my concert/event photography and hopefully cross across you some day, Jake. then i will say that you helped me via this video. Thank you. - Minoo from @wildninnocent

Thank you so so much. That means a lot 🖤
Great videos :D
This may sound pretty basic for you but do you actually have advice on how to change lens on the field?
Like physically change lenses quickly type thing???
@@Jakechams Yes :)
life may feel like dookie but hey at least chams videos are here to make that go away
Would you recommend the a7iii or a6700 for concerts as well?
A7 3 (full frame sensor)
Would you ever consider a Sony FX6 for your concert work or would that be too much?

You 100% can make it happen with the A1. A1 secondary iso is 12800 and you can basically see in the dark with that for video
@@Jakechams tysm! And I've realized the price of the A1 😅 do you know of any model below the a7iii that may work?
