Coping with anxiety or fear

  • Anxiety, fear and every other emotion, is a message that is asking you to resolve one out of four things, and if you do, it goes away:
    1. Information
    2. Resource
    3. Skill
    4. State
    Information can be found here on the internet, in books, with other people. Information on how to play a guitar tells you the theory about how to place fingers, chords, strumming, tuning.
    A resource is something physical you need in order to do something. To learn how to play the guitar, you need a guitar.
    Having a guitar and the information won't make you skilled at it. You need to practise and maybe get some mentoring.
    Once you have mastered the skill, you will be able to play when you are in the right state of playing. If you are stressed out, nervous or sick you will not perform your skill at your best level. States can be trained. This is what mental training and sports psychology is about.
