- Today's scenario, we gonna find answers to a seemingly legendary duel, T-72 vs Abrams, 30 vs 30, but this time there won't be no noob crew, not even downgraded T-72 we used to know. Let me introduce you, the T-72B3. Way advanced and more equal opponent to our well-know M1A2 Abrams. Inspired by fictional conflict between West and East located in Eastern Europe, Russians set up an set up a defensive perimeter, including 30 T-72, some halfway dug in. Strategically important valley to defend between, American Cavalry is on their way to the frontline. Same time they receive intel on possible enemy present in that area. Suddenly, they get ambushed and have to fight their way out.

I like the difference between the nation's priorities just by watching how tanks are destroyed. Most of the Abrams that are knocked out the crew is able to bail out before the tank suffers a catastrophic explosion, the T-72 not so much. The Russians cared more about fielding more tanks, the Americans cared about having crews be able to get out of a tank.
Yea in russian tanks there is a auto loading sytem which is make them get killed just by one hit but in hulldown position m1a2's are cant kill them like this irl i beileve

@@berkay9888 I do not argue. But in an open battle, T72 has much less chances (I'm a patriot, I just don't deny the obvious). In this battle, T72 dug in and, in fact, only his tower was visible, which is a strong point. but if the Abrams were already on the defensive, then the outcome of the battle would have been much sadder (for T72, of course). by the way at the expense of the automatic loader. did you see how many shells ricocheted from the t72 tower? these are all blows, contusions and disorientation are possible. the advantages of the automatic loader also lie in the fact that under any conditions the charger is faster(i hope you'll understand me , my english a little better , than yours russian))

Since it's an assault scenario and not a simple "something vs something else on plain ground", I believe that the T-72 team won. The Abrams failed to pierce their lines, and only 1 of them survived undamaged.

Not exactly the Abrams have better mobility with the AGT Honeywell Gas Turbine Engine has incredible speed which outflank the T 72 the the gun is M256A1 is a high velocity gun piercing up to 600 or 660 which is capable of hitting a crew

This is a game. Many complain that the accuracy of Russian tanks in this game is underestimated. But, I think this was a relatively accurate finish. T-72B3 are not that modern. Only better armour and slightly improved optics.
Besides, these tactics have not been used by Russia since the introduction of UAVs. Realistically that position would’ve been bombed two days ago before the American column would’ve made it there. And the US wouldn’t advance without air and helo cover.
As for the defender, if the tanks were dug in, they should’ve also had ATGM support. Like Egypt had during the operation Badr, where they destroyed hundreds of counter attacking Israeli tanks.
This is a very unrealistic scenario. Maybe in WW2 it would’ve worked, but not today.
Hull down is less safe. Especially if you a degenerative T-72

The Abrams can accurately hit while on the move, so very unlikely they would have stopped to fire, becoming static targets.

I dont really know about specifics of which tank is better but when it comes to modern combat you would never really see tanks fighting alone with eachother,the americans would probably have air support and infantry with ifvs and apcs backing them and so would the Russians.But aside from that I love your vids man.good work.

Mr. WarfareGaming, did the damage inflicted by the T-72B3's on 9 M1A2 Abrams just minor or did a considerable one to stop these tanks on offense?
Usually, I don't point out damaged tanks but for this specific scenario, I wanted to. So one out of 10 were fully operatable, other 9 had some part damaged, mainly tracks, then engine and some main gun damaged. Suddenly both sides stopped engaging each other so that's when I called end.

But the Abrams as advantage on the armour. So, why not make it really even and give the advantage to the T72 to start firing way before?
First two shots T-72s fired were ATGMs. The scene when Abrams get hit the first time, you can see those ATGM projectiles moving towards them much slower compared to APFSDS that you bearly see. You can actually see that on several other scenes as well.
I wanted to include a scene that would clearly show up ATGM but it wasn't perfect so it didn't find use here.

The seem like equal opponents in this game. My only pretension is to T-72B3's variant: if it is countering M1A2, not M1A1HA, it should be of 2016, and the one that you used is of 2013.

Is that 10 Abrams left of which 9 are damaged? Or 10 plus 9 that are damaged/abandoned?
9 out of 10 are damaged, damaged can mean turret or engine knocked out etc...so it's clearly a victory for t72
Only 1 is undamaged. The extent of damage on the other 9 surviving tank is not specified.
Also note that, in reality, different types of "kill" are distinguished: mobility kill, firepower kill, mission kill or - the worst case - the catastrophic kill (aka "K-kill"). In this simulation, it seems the Russian tanks suffered many K-kills whereas the American tanks were more likely to suffer e.g. a mission kill, with some surviving crew.

I'm not sure to what extent a tank can be damaged in this game but let's put it like this: because the yanks were attacking, in order to "win" they'd have to have more tanks remaining that can actually move then the ruski's as well as having more tanks that can fight. To this extent, of the Americans have more tanks that are operational than the Russians, then they "win" and vice versa for the Russians. I keep putting quotation marks because technically it ended in a draw as both sides were left in what was basically a staring contest

M1A2 Abrams. The T72Bs were dug in, less survived, they had the battle advantage of being dug in. But lost more. And most likely the 9 damaged M1A2 Abrams are track or gun damage or side skirts, there for the M1A2 Abrams was victorious. But U.S forces will most likely call for artilary or air barrages next time they encounter 'heavy armour'.

Ну конечно, всем известна "непобедимость" американского металлолома.
На самом деле лобовую броню Абрамса орудием нашего танка не пробить.
Но цели и задачи танков разные, советские танки более легкие и транспортабельные. Для американских необходимы прочные мосты и специальные оборудованные десантные площадки. Тогда как советские смогут пройти почти везде. Да и расход топлива меньше.
Если бы у русских была задача создать тяжелый танк (а вовсе не ОБТ), для допустим поддержки прорыва, то я уверен, что в итоге танк был бы непобедимым для того же Абрамса. Опыт создания у СССР\России имеется. Тот же объект 279, который при модификациях в лоб даже сейчас не пробить. Т-14 не в счет, это своего рода замена устаревшим Т-72 и Т-80. Тактика применения такая-же. И масса танка тоже осталась как у Т-90. (проблемы транспортабельности по Евразии нет).
Т 72Б3 как и т 90 кусок говна, по сравнению с абрамсом.

Naughty Ivan you scratched my paintwork. Several T72s struck M1s in first Gulf war and they suffered only minor Damage as long as the Crew follow procedure Regarding ammunition storage and in a Face on Battle T72s would lose badly.
