I know the lap posted is fairly messy, which actually gives me hope I can do a lot better :D I'll upload all the session separately also, just have to get time to do it :) Also, the lap in the video is the lap where I was one gear too high for everywhere except the straight, I remember being very mad when I realized and the bike was acting like it had been at all......a silly goose I am!
If you are still in contact with Freemans , there's Cathal who works there. He built and raced the sv. Very knowledgeable on them and telling me , him using the cams from different era's sv,s for extra HP. He may have a wealth of info for you. And a very sound and descent guy.
I've never been on a track, but the sv650 seems like the weapon of choice for a budget track bike. Thats probably the bike I would grab if I decided to go to the track. I ride a Vstrom 1000 and mainly do canyon carving in the hills, I love a Suzuki twin 👌
@@187NorCal Oh you should definitely go if you ever get the chance to :) First few times I went were eye opening top and definitely improved my on road riding a lot. Yeah they're just a great engine, and honestly the parts availability for the SV is so nice too.
I think it would be fun to try on track. Is there any point on spending money on race fairings ? Do it after you trash the fairings you have. Take the fairings you have off and paint them during the winter? The lap times will come anyway as you get used to the bike and iron out the bugs. The important thing is to have fun. A good video. Look forward to seeing a cost breakdown. 🙏👍🏻
It was very fun, not as exhilarating as the Z900RS tho, probably because of the wind protection or something, plus the Z makes you feel like you're working so much harder. Yeah I believe I need a set that meet regs if I want to race, otherwise I wouldn't bother. Yep, I feel if the bike hadn't broken down I'd have been really really happy where I ended up at the end of the day. Thanks :) Should be very soon!
Great to see the bike on the track. Hopefully with the tank sorted you will drop some time. Hell yeah why not throw a 650 around a track sounds like a great day out 😎🤙🏻
Thanks, definitely nice to get it out there after all the work :) Yeah I wonder how much I was losing power wise if it wasnt running at full fuel, which I'm sure it wasn't! Haha come try it out!
Great video! Definitely give EvolveGT a try as well. Passing rules are a little better imo, while keeping trackdays safe. The sv is definitely a humble start and an uphill climb lol but that's why we got them.. Well and cost reasons also 😂
I've ridden with Evolve! I'm just in Novice with them and I'm not good at talking to people, N2 put me up to inter based off history, so that's why I ride with them mostly, plus my friends all ride with N2. I'd 100% go with Evolve again too tho! Hahaha yeah we want to just test ourselves, we'll go with that, definitely no cost considerations :D Edit: Thanks also btw!! :)
@TheGorillaBiker we have a great group of 6+ people and are friendly and growing each trackday I feel like. When this season opens and if we come accross each other I'll definitely come say hi.
Thanks! I was using my Z900RS for the last year there but I got sick of the terrible ground clearance and didn't want to ruin the daily comfort with rearsets! Thanks, will do!
I have done one track day on my BMW F900XR and cannot wait for my next.m track day. Goal is to have a dedicated track bike and SV650’s are a fun & inexpensive option.
Thanks!! :) Yeah it's stunning. I miss it for a lot of things, but being able to afford to rent somewhere to live alone with my wife is a very big pro for here!
Looked like there were a few folk in your group that should have been in fast group 😀 I'd love an SV650 as a trackbike, cracking machines and with horsepower that I'd be able to use... am not a good enough rider to make any use of a superbike on track!
Oh that last session I showed, 100%, there were some lads doing mad laps. I like that tho tbh, lets me follow them for a time and learn. I've never been easily spooked so being overtaken is fine! You'd love it man, you could easily do one up as well for cheap and use it :) Very very few people are.
@@TheGorillaBiker I did think about it, was gonna build a naked one, but do all the SuperTwins mods and tuning and have it as a bit of a sleeper just for giggles... but then I got the GSX-8S, and then the V-Strom

Track days are so much fun. Planning on doing one in January.
I would ride the sv650 on track. Who doesn’t love a v-twin?
Ah nice! You should :) I've a double header at the end of this month!
Exactly, I'd like to meet them and explain they're silly.
Hope to see some vids from that Matt mate 🙂

I am indeed! I'll start bothering a few of them to bother him for info so :D Thanks :)

I’d love to do some track riding.
You should try it! I think you can rent track bikes over there from what I've seen :)
The SV looks tidy, thats a lovely flowing track, well suited to a 650.
Yeah it's definitely more a circuit for 600s etc other than the straight, the 1000cc bikes just sprint past you there

Good video man! I’ve been tracking an SV at NCBike for 3 years and love it. Let me know if ya ever have any sv or NCBike questions
Thanks! I was using my Z900RS for the last year there but I got sick of the terrible ground clearance and didn't want to ruin the daily comfort with rearsets! Thanks, will do!

I'd actually LOVE to try that bike, they look great!!
I would honestly highly recommend it, really good bike for the job.
@ If you make it to Las Vegas, ping me, you can take it for a ride.
Visited Ireland this summer for a week, what a beautiful country!
Thanks!! :)

@HippoDrones that's fair, you'd want to be building one with an idea of using it a lot I suppose, which is my plan 😂
@@TheGorillaBiker I'd have to sell the GP if I was to get a project bike
@HippoDrones noooooo cancel that. Pretend I didn't say anything!!!!
Unless you want to, it's your bike after all :)
I’d ride any bike on a track.
Says a lot about you .....
