Hello Lucia. Thank you so much for your reaction. This was his first performance in China and he was the first one to sing in the competition so he must have been nervous. As you watch more (I hope), you'll hear the depth of his voice as well. You'll also find that he emotes with every song he sings. He never just sings the notes. Also, he says, that just because you can sing high notes, it doesn't mean you should. He uses it mostly for emphasis. Thank you for not disparaging his French accent. Some people who react to him do this but they tend to forget that he's only fluent in Kazakh and Russian and is currently learning Chinese and English. During the filming of I am Singer in China, they only had one week in which to learn lyrics (in his case, often phonetically) and he also had a huge hand in the arrangements of the songs. The voice you heard comes from one naturally gifted but is only possible through years of dedicated training under the supervision of outstanding teachers. His mother is an opera singer, his father a pop star/music producer and he started extensive formal musical training at age 5 on instruments and vocals. He has said that his vocal chords are longer than usual and when the "voice change" happened he didn't lose his high notes but just extended his lower range. As a teen he trained operatically at an arts school but with his range that meant performing as a tenor and a soprano. His tone is so exceptional he was actually part of the female section of the choir when they needed help. He then studied rock, pop and RnB vocal styles in college where he obtained a degree in The Art of Stage Performance/Variety Vocal. He plays several instruments well including piano, the dombra (Kazakh two string lute) and the drums. His goal is to tastefully combine these vocal techniques, along with those of his native Kazakh heritage, to create his own musical fusion.

@@cassiewinters331 You are welcome. I still don't think we have the full answer but I've heard a couple theories. There is something different physically and it is rare. Even those that have the ability will probably not develop it so it makes it hard to find enough guys to bring in for a study.

If you are interested to listen when he sings in italian then you should listen to Confessa (+ Diva dance) from the Singer episodes. He sings in a lot of different languages, even though he doesn't speak them. He sees no limit, only works to improve! :)

Ah you found Dimash!! A unique voice he has been studying since 4 years old he is in my opinion one of the best male vocalist. Such a range and technique. his lower registry is beautiful in tone. the fact that he can hit the high whistle note are amazing but for me a bit over used. He is from Kazakhstan & is the winner of an invitational singing contest in China yr. 2017. He studied operatic singing & His parents are both operatic singers.Bravo from the Philippines.
He actually didn't win it. He came second. A common mistake. He won some of the individual rounds but then overall came 2nd behind, not unsurprisingly, the Chinese lady.
You've upgraded your editing skills even more now! 👍👏 Thumbs up for the dark corner vignette too. 💖 6:10 Not whistle yet, still in mix register. But, you will hear his whistle register in some other performances (different songs). His french improves even more in later SOS performances also. Good catch on the movement calibration. We can see him eying the audience occasionally to gauge their reaction, and occasionally checking the teleprompter too, for the lyrics. This performance for me is still my #1 favorite from Dimash out of all of his performances. First impression, first love, or whatever it is you want to call it LOL. @@ubervocal8777 It's not about not knowing the lyrics. It's just what performers do. There's absolutely nothing wrong with at checking the teleprompter. When the teleprompter is present, it's just human nature to want to look. I've seen a lot of performers in Singer 2017 and Singer 2018 have this tendency. It doesn't matter when they're singing their own hit songs. Same predictable human behavior happens in concerts of various artists too. I've seen so many Singer 2017 and 2018 performances, often times repeatedly, thanks to Dimash, Huahua, Jessie J, etc LOL, that I know full well the layout of the studio. If you want, check out some shots where the teleprompter is visible, positioned above the highest seat of the audience. I couldn't even count how many times I've seen this SOS video. Observe 3:34 - 3:38. Dimash made eye contact with the audience, glanced up to the teleprompter, then back to audience. 3:42 he glanced up for the lyrics again, ended up closing his eyes for emotive effect. 6:11 he repeat the same coordination. Yes, I know, I'm a Dimash nerd and a "Singer" nerd. 🤣

I can't rule out a teleprompter, only Dimash can tell us for certain, and there's nothing wrong with checking it either. I'm just a little skeptical for this particular song, especially with the 3:42 where the eye movement of looking heavenward is actually in sync with the questioning lyrics. Then at 6:11 he looks heavenward, straight ahead and then looks down, all in sync with the questioning lyrics. Maybe that was his sneaky way to check the teleprompter but my guess is not. To me he had done a little too much planning and rehearsing of his stage movements, which is why I prefer the Sochi performance. As far as watching this version of SOS, I stopped counting at 100. 😀

He has a solid strong 6 octave range, perfect pitch and is trained in classical singing and multiple instruments since age 5. He was just 22 during this performance. And believe it or not you saw just a little piece of what he can do. And he is a composer - highly recommended his own composition - Unforgettable Day at Gakku (he did his highest whistle there - so far a D8)

For a small channel like mine, it's a hard life...

Hello Lucia. Thank you so much for your reaction. This was his first performance in China and he was the first one to sing in the competition so he must have been nervous. As you watch more (I hope), you'll hear the depth of his voice as well. You'll also find that he emotes with every song he sings. He never just sings the notes. Also, he says, that just because you can sing high notes, it doesn't mean you should. He uses it mostly for emphasis. Thank you for not disparaging his French accent. Some people who react to him do this but they tend to forget that he's only fluent in Kazakh and Russian and is currently learning Chinese and English. During the filming of I am Singer in China, they only had one week in which to learn lyrics (in his case, often phonetically) and he also had a huge hand in the arrangements of the songs. The voice you heard comes from one naturally gifted but is only possible through years of dedicated training under the supervision of outstanding teachers. His mother is an opera singer, his father a pop star/music producer and he started extensive formal musical training at age 5 on instruments and vocals. He has said that his vocal chords are longer than usual and when the "voice change" happened he didn't lose his high notes but just extended his lower range. As a teen he trained operatically at an arts school but with his range that meant performing as a tenor and a soprano. His tone is so exceptional he was actually part of the female section of the choir when they needed help. He then studied rock, pop and RnB vocal styles in college where he obtained a degree in The Art of Stage Performance/Variety Vocal. He plays several instruments well including piano, the dombra (Kazakh two string lute) and the drums. His goal is to tastefully combine these vocal techniques, along with those of his native Kazakh heritage, to create his own musical fusion.

@@cassiewinters331 You are welcome. I still don't think we have the full answer but I've heard a couple theories. There is something different physically and it is rare. Even those that have the ability will probably not develop it so it makes it hard to find enough guys to bring in for a study.

Ah you found Dimash!! A unique voice he has been studying since 4 years old he is in my opinion one of the best male vocalist. Such a range and technique. his lower registry is beautiful in tone. the fact that he can hit the high whistle note are amazing but for me a bit over used. He actually didn't win it. He came second. A common mistake. He won some of the individual rounds but then overall came 2nd behind, not unsurprisingly, the Chinese lady.

But, you will hear his whistle register in some other performances (different songs). His french improves even more in later SOS performances also. Good catch on the movement calibration. This performance for me is still my #1 favorite from Dimash out of all of his performances. First impression, first love, or whatever it is you want to call it LOL. @@ubervocal8777 It's not about not knowing the lyrics. It's just what performers do. There's absolutely nothing wrong with at checking the teleprompter. When the teleprompter is present, it's just human nature to want to look. I've seen a lot of performers in Singer 2017 and Singer 2018 have this tendency. It doesn't matter when they're singing their own hit songs. Same predictable human behavior happens in concerts of various artists too. I've seen so many Singer 2017 and 2018 performances, often times repeatedly, thanks to Dimash, Huahua, Jessie J, etc LOL, that I know full well the layout of the studio. If you want, check out some shots where the teleprompter is visible, positioned above the highest seat of the audience. I couldn't even count how many times I've seen this SOS video. Observe 3:34 - 3:38. Dimash made eye contact with the audience, glanced up to the teleprompter, then back to audience. 3:42 he glanced up for the lyrics again, ended up closing his eyes for emotive effect. 6:11 he repeat the same coordination. Yes, I know, I'm a Dimash nerd and a "Singer" nerd. 🤣

I can't rule out a teleprompter, only Dimash can tell us for certain, and there's nothing wrong with checking it either. I'm just a little skeptical for this particular song, especially with the 3:42 where the eye movement of looking heavenward is actually in sync with the questioning lyrics. Then at 6:11 he looks heavenward, straight ahead and then looks down, all in sync with the questioning lyrics.
Maybe that was his sneaky way to check the teleprompter but my guess is not. To me he had done a little too much planning and rehearsing of his stage movements, which is why I prefer the Sochi performance. As far as watching this version of SOS, I stopped counting at 100. 😀

È un polistrumentista e in ogni esibizione inserisce una diversa tecnica vocale; per esempio variazioni legate al canto kazako o medio orientale. I suoi genitori sono cantanti e la madre lo ha avviato alla tecnica lirica fin da piccolo. Grazie per spiegare a chi ascolta anche spiegazioni tecniche che oltre al sentimento fanno capire quanto sia complesso per un cantante quello che fa con la voce e che per la vostra capacità sembra a molti una cosa facile :). When I saw a Dimash for the first time I was in shock.
He has a solid strong 6 octave range, perfect pitch and is trained in classical singing and multiple instruments since age 5. He was just 22 during this performance. And believe it or not you saw just a little piece of what he can do. And he is a composer - highly recommended his own composition - Unforgettable Day at Gakku (he did his highest whistle there - so far a D8)
