J-C Heath ! Take it from a guy who worked as a Red Cross ski patrol here for some years:
**You never, never ever** remove a work boot, ski boot or shoe yourself. You go to the nearest E.R. ASAP and let them take care of it.
You don't know if nerves or bones were damaged. Keeping your boot on hold everything at their right place.
Plus your foot or limb may swell like crazy fast, spreading any infection through your limb or your whole body.
Regarding anti-biotics, you were a plumber, not a certified Doctor after years of studies and training. Trust your's.
Finally, tree felling is one of the most dangerous occupation. Wear the proper Personal Safety equipment, damn it !

Those infections are no joke. I was a combat medic in the Army and had to deal with that many times. Taking the medication as prescribed is a great way to fight the issue. I wish you a speedy recovery and I'm sending prayers.

And chaps. Uncle almost lost his life doing THE EXACT SAME THING and fell, cutting his femoral artery. Chainsaws are no joke and should be respected. Look at the terrain you’re working in…it’s just nuts man.

MRSA is nothing to mess with my father had MRSA a few years ago from getting a pedicure. He lost his big toe and was in LDS Hospital for four months because the infection went into his bloodstream. He was on IV antibiotics and he almost lost his life all for a tiny cut on his toe getting a pedicure.
MRSA stays on you skin, we all have it but some people are more acceptable in getting infection than others.
Please take care of yourself, I love your videos and I’m a little bit selfish I don’t want to see you laid up for the summer because I look forward watching you create your dreams with your family on Red Poppy Ranch. 🙏🏼💜🙏🏼💜🙏🏼

My uncle cut into his foot a lot of years ago and he was a life long woodsman who had cut trees back before chainsaws where used here in the Canadian North. It took a while for it to heal. That was along time before the special pants and safety boots they have today. The loggers today look like Firemen working in the bush here in Canada with Face shields, special jackets and pants. They even have to do a class and pass a test here to work cutting trees down. Private owners can cut their own trees without the tests and classes.

Loving the drone footage .... lol, always the moo-moo's ..... ouch! Shit! I hope you're ok! .... I just finished cutting my thumb on my table saw .... It's like a chainsaw, a nasty ground up meaty cut ... not easy to sew up and takes a while to heal .... ESPECIALLY with a foot, be careful of infection due to sweat and all ..... Man I feel for you. Haste makes waste. You know, working out there alone like that, you need to be extra careful. ........ Live and learn, take it easy, bide your time and let the thing heal. Better to be down for a weak or two than to lose your foot. Ruby is so awesome.

As someone who is allergic to tetanus shots I use what a farmer friend recommended years ago. I always have a BIG bottle of hydrogen peroxide in my frig and a couple on my bathroom shelf. I keep a bottle at the place I volunteer also. Any cuts, nicks or puncture wounds I quickly pour that stuff on. Yep. It hurts. I want to make sure I clean it out! If the wound is small and the object looks fairly clean I hit it with tea tree oil and later in the day with Neosporin. And I keep on doing that. Oh, did I also mention that I'm allergic to penicillin? I hope you heal cleanly without any problems. Blessings on you and your family and friends and your homestead!

So sorry you got hurt. Wishing you a speedy recovery. I do have a few thoughts for you on the antibiotic thing. Every single medical intervention we perform has risks. Good medicine is skillful balancing of risk vs. benefit. The doctors have the knowledge and the experience to make these judgements for us, and a good doctor will prescribe with a healthy respect for all of the risks involved. We have to trust their judgement. If you don't trust your doctor, you need to find one that you do. Someone that will really listen to your concerns and will take the time to explain to your satisfaction why they are recommending the course of action that they are. Please take your pills as prescribed. Once again, I will send a prayer up for your complete recovery.

Dang….that’s a gnarly cut. I almost lost my leg to a staph infection about 20 years ago - the 5th round of increasingly intense antibiotics thankfully did the trick (the dr had already scheduled the amputation), but that infection left my right leg weak. I also spent my first 25-30 years on antibiotics constantly and it ruined my gut & immune system.
I’m glad you didn’t do irreparable damage to your foot.

My husband came down with staph infections (cellulitis) in his lower leg every few years, then it was every year, then 2-3 times per year, and each time it was a little worse, eventually spreading to his other leg, requiring hospitalization at least 3 times. We learned that even athlete’s foot can provide a gateway for the bacteria, so try to avoid that and any other breaks in the skin. Glad you went in to have it checked!

My husband was out cutting a tree when our son was only nine months. The tree was caught up in grape vines and it kicked the chain saw out. He had to get 18 stitches in his leg. He was lectured at the hospital about cutting wood alone. He was only about 300 feet from the house. They told him it was only a centimeter from a artery and if he had hit it he would have bleed out before he reached the house. Please be careful accidents happen to quick. That was fourthyone years ago and now I still always go with him and have our cell phones on use. We cut on 100 acres in Ohio.

Please wear protective clothes for chainsaws! It depends on how fast your chainsaw runs (meter per second). S1 protective clothes are up to 20m/s and s2 are up to 24m/s.
You should wear those special clothes! Stay safe!

So glad it wasn't worse! I live in the UK and a friend from Kentucky told me all about colloidal silver. I'd never heard of it before but, I decided to get some ( I now make my own). Luckily for me, (or unlucky) I had cause to use it. I enjoy DIY and was refurbishing a padded dining chair. I had problems taking out the staples to recover the pad and slipped with the knife, straight into the palm of my hand. Well, blood flowed freely to put it lightly. I rinsed off my hand and wrapped it up after calling my son to help. I had to hold my arm up to help stem the flow and he called an ambulance. By the time they arrived it was settling but, I had started to feel funny, I knew it was the shock but they insisted taking me to the hospital even though the initial bleeding was stemmed. So, off we went. 4 hours later no one had still seen me except a nurse had taken my BP. I was so disgusted (and feeling better) I left and went home. I treated my hand with colloidal silver and covered my palm with lint and a cotton wool padding and bandaged it up. I kept the wound clean by checking daily and poured more silver over it and sprayed it with elastoplast spray ( a glue). That made me jump lol. However, between the silver and the glue it healed up fast, no infection and no scar! I discovered researching silver, it fights mrsa and infections. It can be taken orally for sore throats and ennumerable things and does not have a side effect or affect any other medications. My grandsons have their own small bottle to spray and grazes etc since they saw what it did for me. It doesn't sting either. I can highly recommend it as an emergency standby it really does work. I use it as a nasal spray too to prevent colds and gargle regularly. You can swallow it too. I was so grateful to my cherokee friend!!!

I use colloidal silver as a nasal spray to stop sinus infections. It seems to work well!

Guess you are being forced to stop & smell the roses, LOL. And being the person you are, you will have a clipboard in your lap, listing all the big and little projects you intend to do for the next little while. I still remember the whiteboard in your 'just dried in' living room, that you would cross items off as you went.

Heath we hope you heal well. Take it from someone that is lucky to be alive in spite of my unwillingness to take Antib, MRSA is a sneaky bitty! It will feed off the staff and you will be fine one moment and the next you will be fighting for your life! MRSA is no joke. You deserve to take good care of yourself. Cedar and your wonderful children need you. We will say a prayer each day for your recovery. God Bless
