And I thought that I was the only person to forget to turn the oil valve back on,lol. Good repair, Steve. Like how you explain it so that the young guys(and gals) can learn.
Great diagnosis . Moved back to Upstate NY and have alike oil stuff happening to on a Bryant hot air furnace shitjob install circa 2008. I’m taking a drop oil and oil on 30:43 bottom of afg burner. Was in Alabama and never thought I would deal with oil again.
I thought wore out pump would do that . I use to add check valves when couldn't talk into new pump . That was years ago it worked. Have a great day. I never saw solinoid on residential only on commercial units. Things change .
What kind of shoes do you wear Steve? I'm looking for something similar. Low cut and slip-ons safety shoes. As opposed to bulky work books in the summer. (Seen 2:01)
Had our house converted from oil to natural gas. I can smell heating oil on my clothes. Is there something I can run to remove the oil vapors from the air? Thanks!

Steve I’m a local guy in Ma and watch your videos regularly. I have an older ducane DRC-15a oil burner. I got it serviced this year like I always do and they said I was all good. Few days later I notice it’s leaking very slowly. They send a second guy out - he digs into it and replaced about 6 different parts on it that were all covered with my service plan. Still doesn’t fix the issue. He ends up finding out that the were the jet line connects to the draw assembly the fitting it leaking and the first guy slightly stripped it and when the second guy took it apart and put it back together it got stripped even worse. He brought the fitting back to there work shop and tried to add what he called a bulk head fitting on the end for the jet line to connect to - it still leaked. He added pipe dope and Teflon tape still no good. His next option was to sell me a new Beckett burner for $3k but admitted that I should be able to find someone that can chase the threads or cut off the fitting and braze a new one on pretty easily. Just wasn’t something they could do. I’m curious what you think is the best option to fix the fitting? And do you know what size I would need or where I could even source a used draw assembly? I’m getting a new burner in the next year or so but until then I’d like to fix this fitting since everything else is running good on this oil burner still.
try to find a used draw assembley off a used burner .thats what i do in a case like that .. i deal with mostly becket stuff maybe some carlin stuff at times ...that ducan i dont see then were i am from maybe try ebay would be your best bet or try to buy the part onlne new .
@@stevenlavimoniere Thanks for the response - I actually looked everywhere and posted in HVAC groups with no luck. She’s an oldie - Just gotta get me through one more season before I put a new system in and some mini splits - I’m gonna try to chase the threads and if that doesn’t work I’m gonna try to add a flare coupling onto it. I just need to order some flare fittings since hd and lowes don’t stocks any smaller then 1/4 and also a tap and die kit to try and fix the threads but not sure what size they usually are. I’m thinking possibly 3/16 or 1/8th do you have any idea? I’m talking about the threaded part that the jet line connects onto that is stripped in my pics.
@@Bostonn617 pull it out and install a beckett you can get a used one pretty easy just make sure it has a ajustable mount flange so you can set it to your boiler
Can you recommend what to do I ran out of oil and had some put in now everytime it starts it shuts down 30 secs later I tried to bleed it but nothing is coming out the bleeder I had service come take a look they say it’s the motor which I don’t believe because I’m still seeing no oil from the bleed
Hi Steve Love watching your videos , really funny at times and like your problem solving, have noticed recently though you’re having to go back to jobs in the last few weeks or so , I know you try to save your customers money and that’s very commendable of you , but is it costing you money to save them some , keep up the good work Regards Davy 🏴🇹🇭
You're not even allowed to put these in new installations anymore, aren't you? Those are gear pumps, aren't they? I would imagine they could be rebuilt to pump biodiesel without it getting past the seals.
Hi Steve, thanks for this. My furnace recently started leaking fuel, turns out I had the same issue. Waiting on the new pump now.
I was happy 2 c u get the testing equipment out. Nice troubleshoot Steve !
And I thought that I was the only person to forget to turn the oil valve back on,lol. Good repair, Steve. Like how you explain it so that the young guys(and gals) can learn.
There was a visible leak from the 2 nuts/or plus on the bottom of the pump Steve.
Yes I see that

That's like us scrub and squeegee cooking oil on the floor behind/ under the "Broaster". welcome to hell! LOL
When is it gonna warm up in the Neck of your woods? It's been warm enough for me for about a month down south where I is.
I don't do plumbing or work on boilers but i like your channel

Man Steve! I get so nervous when you start bending those copper lines😂 I always snap one!
he mentioned needing to order more of those so part of me thinks it happens now and then
Happy Memorial day Steve & miss Molly

Very nice housing estate some very beautiful homes out there
When cleaning a wet area like you had here, could you use a "Break Cleaner Spray" to remove that wetness and clean all of that off?
just the same as you would any other oil

Good job Steve I knew you figure it out
Where did you get those shoes I want some
one of your wire nuts popped off when you reinstalled the controller 29:36.

Finely steve it was the pump the problem? I have the same problem now ,
Thx Steve.
unlikely but the solenoid could be sticking open even with the voltage removed
It's either the pump leaking or oil is dripping from the nozzle adapter
Steve I saw a drip at 7:34 of your video. Don’t know if it means anything, but it showed at a different angle that you were looking. Only try to help
It means he was right. That’s the pump that was leaking and he changed it out. Good catch.

Why, no pipe dope on the threads that the main oil line connect to ?
Good service call

Just wondering why you didn’t start it up first to see where the leak was coming from instead of guessing what happened
