Ive been rocking these exact NWS pliers for over a year now and i highly recommend them. Comfort is great and you can certainly beat on them, priced at 49 bucks from bunnings you can't go wrong!
I'm from America and I love having NWS tools because nobody else does , nobody gets confused with my stuff. I can see is NWS is a class act. This brand is not overly priced.
It's funny you bring up marvel because it's kind of an oddball in the bunch , but I wouldn't get the lineman. I would get the crosscut pliers they make. Can't wait to try them.
I have been running a full NWS set for about 5yrs, and they have held up great! They quickly turned into my favourite tools!! I picked mine up at Lee Valley in Canada. I would like to try out the Marvel MVA-200 but can’t get them here, will have to order them online.
The weight distribution is good on the Knipex which makes them the most comfortable to use for me. I’ve got the 200mm 02 02 comfort and also a 180mm 03 plastic dipped which is way thinner and good for getting into tight spots. €15 and €9 respectively from TBS.
I found that wrapping a bit of tape around evenly along the handles and then sliding the grips over holds em on good... current pair is still good after 2 years of abuse...
I’m enrolled for a pre apprenticeship and I’m looking at NWS for my first pliers. Bunnings has a set of 3 with the classic handle that has combination, side cutters and needle nose for $69... seems like a good place to start setting up my toolkit. I can’t find anything from channellock, crescent etc for a price that good. Hopefully they perform well enough to complete my apprenticeship and I can get some knipex to celebrate haha
Heracy! I don't really use pliers for anything important but if I were to buy any, I would have automatically gone for knipex. I had the same poor bastard pair of 6" knipex cutters for 18 years now
For all that money and all that alleged quality and innovation and wonderfulness, WHY NO ROMEX CUTTER? ..a $20 Milwaukee 6 in 1 has been in my bag for years because of it.
Sorry for posting a comment so late (the video is from 2018...), but I would like your view on the matter ; I am looking to buy a new plier, and I aim to buy the best product I can have my hands on, so I searched... These are my findings, and please correct me if I am wrong : 1) From my point of view, the best would be the japan-made Fujiya 3300N-200 (I don't really need the longer, 225mm variant) ; even if they are rated at 1,6mm piano wire cutting capability, the real-world testing have shown that they were less deformed after abuse-cutting tests (made by another TH-camr, "Project Farm"). The combination of the steel used for their construction and the heat treatment alone would make them more wear resistant than the other brands ; 2) Knipex would be the "golden standard" - not the best, but a safe, solid choice for everyone - from my POW, better than NWS/Irwin (Germany), Gedore (Austria), Engineer/Vampliers (Japan) ; I might be wrong, but I don't think Wiha, Hazet or Stahlwille fabricate their own pliers (please, DO correct me if I am mistaken !) ; 3) I don't know if Victor PLUS+ brand (Japan) are made by Fujiya or not (they probably are...) but seems like at least on par with Fujiya. Also Don't know how Snap-on compares to the japanese/german pliers. Or Nepros, KTC, Koken. Any comment would be welcomed !
I wouldnt call nws budget. Been running their cobra style pliers for a while now as a deisel mech. So far love them. Personal opinion i out them alongside knipex. I will agree thiugh that the fancy machining isnt necessary
Not sure of the cost in Australia but Klein os the go to linemans in the US. I have the NWS angled lineman and the knipex 1000V as well. I like all of them to be honest but Klein seem to be the standard.
It's not so much cost, by they're basically not sold a where over here. Until I stated electrical work I had honestly never even heard of Klein. Only way to really get them here is buy them in the states and ship them. Not sure about the prices over there but I think a set of nut drivers set me back about $130, so at which point I would enerally rather buy Wera orKnipex kit. Just an Australian 2c
Gonna rip out tonight and grab that 3 pack with the adjusto pliers ( have a large set of cobras) these look interesting enough to pay the extra for a full set
I've seen the Stanley ones at total tools. They look pretty crappy with the tolerances being all over the place but the price is right. Ever seen them in action?
Thanks for your vid. Im an experienced electrician and in need of new pliers so whilst at bunnings i decided to grab nws just to try somting new. Whilst feature packed and comfortable i feel regret as i compare them at home to my Japanese made Marvel favourites. I feel like I can go on forever but basically I'll be taking the toy back and get another pair of the no fuss multi tool, solid and serious marvels. If anyone seriously has to know why, I might elaborate. And mine were poorly casted as well, grating stiffly as they open and close.
Kiwi sparky here. Agreed re Marvel pliers, they just feel right. Tried Klein, Channelok and nothing else feels as good. Plus crimper works well in a pinch. Must be like cars right…Japanese just work.
Not personally. I got these as a gift to an apprentice who was running cheap 10 dollar pliers. The NWS is a promising brand but is not there with the defects I found. Comments have stated they have had no issues with it
Finn's World thanks for video.. those yellow handle Marvels are harder and more expensive to find in North America I am a fan of Japanese tools but harder to access in Montreal
They will loosen up a fair bit. I had the side cutters and pliers (Not 1000v). While I didn't like the pliers (The were shorter and wider earlier model) they were Damn cheap compared to Klein, Channelock and Marvel here in NZ. I found they did get a bit of play laterally over about a year of use and changed not long after. Those first pliers you had, were they actually Crescents? I'm asking cause my old man raves about his and cannot remember what brand they were (he was off the tools for about 25 years). They have the same Hard crosshatched handle. I might have to pick up a pair for him
I am pretty sure either crescents or marvel, it’s hard to remember exactly. I was a broke apprentice to it would of been the cheaper pair when I went to buy them!
hi I am looking for such pliers please specify where you can buy them, EAN number, part number or link to maufacture web I can not find them in Europe and the US cheers
I love how the guys most worried about the prices buy them all anyway.
David Lanham who?

Dan Pav83 Its a wire cutter made in Japan, used heavily in Australia.
The weight distribution is good on the Knipex which makes them the most comfortable to use for me. I’ve got the 200mm 02 02 comfort and also a 180mm 03 plastic dipped which is way thinner and good for getting into tight spots. €15 and €9 respectively from TBS.
Those old loose pliers almost wanted to fly haha. Thanks for your review mate.
Please give us the model number on those Channellock combos? Sadly, the ones here in USA have handle grips that slip off within a year.
The closest I have are the e348cb model.
I’m on my 4th pair all have had handles come loose
That’s design flaw for sure
I found that wrapping a bit of tape around evenly along the handles and then sliding the grips over holds em on good... current pair is still good after 2 years of abuse...
The yellow plastic handle pliers, second to last its a pair of Crescent 3800CVTN. these came out late seventies or early 80s.
I’m enrolled for a pre apprenticeship and I’m looking at NWS for my first pliers. Congrats on starting your pre-apprenticeship.
I think you will be more than fine with the NWS. They are a great value for money
You need to try the non insulated nws coba pliers…waaaaay better than the knipex version. You can grip harder with their handles.
Thoughts now? Versus channellock? Bought the cabac marvel clones (cutting ones) didn't like em
I got them for the apprentice he had had no complaints, the blades are holding up
He did they hold up dude?
Great video showing Aussie spark plier choices 101
Heracy! I don't really use pliers for anything important but if I were to buy any, I would have automatically gone for knipex.
I had the same poor bastard pair of 6" knipex cutters for 18 years now
U should try the wattmaster pliers they are like channel locks with the nws bolt grippers best pliers I have ever used
I’ll keep an eye out
Thanks man !!!
What kind of wristwatch do you wear bro ? They are nice 👍🏼
It’s an Apple Watch with a unicorn beatle case
The channellock combos have interesting handles. Not like that here in the US. Klein makes combos as well.
For all that money and all that alleged quality and innovation and wonderfulness, WHY NO ROMEX CUTTER? ..a $20 Milwaukee 6 in 1 has been in my bag for years because of it.
Because they have not come up with a way to charge $220 for one.

Grabbed a pair today, half the weight of my snap on ones, third of the price too.
I wouldnt call nws budget. Been running their cobra style pliers for a while now as a deisel mech. So far love them. Personal opinion i out them alongside knipex. I will agree thiugh that the fancy machining isnt necessary
I've been running the NWS for nearly a year now and cannot recommend them highly enough!
Glad to hear they are decent
Same almost 1.5 years and i actually think they get better with age, so underrated, the sidies are also sick

The same as NWS on some markets there are Gross 16989 180mm VDE and Felo VDE 180MM 00058001840 combination pliers. Gross and Felo are made by NWS.
I've seen the Stanley ones at total tools. They look pretty crappy with the tolerances being all over the place but the price is right. Ever seen them in action?
I haven't seen the Stanley ones in the wild.
Are you talking about the insulated ones or regular ones?
Were the vampliers at?
Vampliers seem to be popular but have no place in real world, nothing that do that cobra’s can’t do better
Thanks for your vid. Im an experienced electrician and in need of new pliers so whilst at bunnings i decided to grab nws just to try somting new. Little bit of valve grind paste and work that through then flush them. Makes your new pliers feel like a well used pair
@@TheLexiconDevils that's a pretty good tip.
Kiwi sparky here. Agreed re Marvel pliers, they just feel right. Tried Klein, Channelok and nothing else feels as good. Plus crimper works well in a pinch. Must be like cars right…Japanese just work.
I never understand combonation pliers. They’re an inferior slip joint plier and an inferior lineman’s.
So you would rather buy NWS pliers than Knipex?
Not personally. I got these as a gift to an apprentice who was running cheap 10 dollar pliers.

Where do you live? Canada? Which province?
Australia

I do own a lot of nws pliers and I dont have the same problem as you, maybe I have been lucky or maybe you have been unlucky:-)
Design Nice NWS
hi
I am looking for such pliers

I can not find them in Europe and the US
cheers
KC Tools is a solid US distrib. Black Friday rn, 20% off almost everything :@
Knipex aren't 1000v rated need to red and yellow ones
Yes
How can you review something that you haven't actually used
Like this
A lot of salty viewers lol
I’d rather Trojan than NWS ...
Just made a dickhead of meself didn’t I
