Doesn't have enough "LOUIS CK! SMAAAASHED!!!! Liberal SIMP!", with pics of Dave and Ash looking SHOOOOK!, and tons of annoying dubstep music, and 8-bit retro crap. TH-cam has fallen SO fucking far, but what's the alternative? Dailymotion? I almost got cancer trying out TikTok a few years ago.

Ironically, Louis CK's cancelation made him an even better comedian. Now he had no shackles of business contract. You should see his specials he did afterwards, namely Sincerely and Sorry. They are fantastic.

    • @Xeroforte

@@Xeroforte why don’t you like that bible bit? Because you’re religious? Or because you think it’s hacky? I thought it was a great bit and had me laughing hard, i guess to each their own.

    • @StoneE4

@@Xeroforte Your bible makes for great comedy. One of the first fables in that book deals with a talking snake, magical fruit, and a doofus god who gets angry at his own creation for disobeying him when he created that creation to disobey him in the first place. Best of all, people believe that nonsense as if it really happened - that right there on its own is damn funny. A good comedian expounding on that ridiculousness makes it even more hilarious.

According to the Oxford English dictionary, a scientist is: a person who is studying or has expert knowledge of one or more of the natural or physical sciences.
Being an expert in your field only makes you a scientist if that field is in the natural or physical sciences. The natural and physical sciences are not whatever you want them to be but are the following specific fields:
astronomy, chemistry, physics, Earth science, biology, mathematics, atmospheric chemistry, biochemistry, botany, geology, quantum mechanics, anatomy, electrochemistry, environmental science, materials science, philosophy, zoology, genetics and life science.
Electricians aren't scientists no matter how many science courses they pass getting certified. A beautician isn't a beauty scientist. These things are easily verifiable with tools at our disposal.

    • @StoneE4

Louie got in trouble because he asked people whose career he had power over.
No one was saying he gave them work, they were saying they gave consent because they were afraid they would LOSE work, in fact that he would destroy their careers.
That is literally the definition of sexual harassment.
And this is a case of literally being the correct word.
People didn’t TRY to “throw coercion” into Louie’s case it was, again literally, there to be found.

    • @thescourgeofathousan
      @thescourgeofathousan 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@fleeness for me it’s the fact that he can’t accept he did anything wrong.
He’s convinced he got in trouble for having a kink rather than for the choice of people to (no pun intended) expose it to.
He hasn’t even tried to say that the kink made him make some bad decisions around that!
Just “I’m the victim I’m the victim I’m the victim” bs.
For someone who was a strong voice for right and wrong through his work and his platform it’s especially disappointing.

Louis is a brilliant comedian. I got to see him live and always loved his shows and stand up. Do I believe he deserved to be canceled? Yes. Do I think canceling should be permanent? No, not in every case. In a fucked up power dynamic where he semi-consensually masturbated in front of subordinate employees, yes, he deserved to lose a show and have stuff pulled from streaming for a bit, but he didn't rape or murder anyone either. I'd be interested to know what the victims think, but as a bystander, I'm satisfied with the amount of punishment he received and am ready to give him a second chance.

Louis’ “why” bit always makes me think about me with my niece. She always wanted me to read to her but I hate reading out loud, so for the first six or seven years of her life I told her I didn’t know how to read. Luckily for me she never questioned me about it because I’m not a monster and I was down with any other activity. I just don’t like reading out loud for some reason. Get up in your education and your certs. You don't want to be wriggling around in a crawlspace for long, you want to be sending 20-year-olds into crawlspaces. It's getting hotter every year, and you aren't getting any younger. The sooner you become a foreman, or become an engineer, the better. It's all well and good to get out of working in an office, but you're a little big for some of the places I've been in doing residential work. I'm TOTALLY the unlicensed, unbonded, occasional electrician that you hire when you just want to run a big 36,000 BTU split unit, but your wiring is from the 1970s. I've seen some shit.

I think the issue was more about the power dynamic. If it's your boss and you're working in the entertainment industry -- a biz where it's notoriously easy to get blackballed and be blocked from finding work again -- the "consent" can be given simply to keep from getting fired, not because you actually want to do the sexual thing your boss is "asking" you to do. This is why, even outside of the entertainment industry, most businesses ban managers or bosses from dating employees over whom they have any amount of power. Even if the boss actually thinks it's consensual and has no intention of firing the employee if they say no, the employee doesn't know that for sure (even if the boss says as much, you never know how they're really going to react if they feel rejected). And in a high-pressure, difficult to get into business like entertainment, there are plenty of people who will give consent just to keep from losing their career.
As Louis CK himself said, "what I learned later in life, too late, is that when you have power over another person, asking them to look at your dick isn’t a question. It’s a predicament for them."
And it doesn't help that the women who outed Louis CK's behavior got a HUGE amount of backlash, threats, etc. It makes it so other people put into that "predicament" by their bosses are less willing to say no or expose the behavior.
There was one woman, a comedian in the UK, who was interviewed by the director of the Louis CK doc that came out recently who summed it up pretty well. She worked throughout the UK comedy industry for 15 years and experienced an attempted sexual assault by a famous comedian. She has considered going public, but still feels it’s a risk having witnessed the online backlash others have faced. "Also," she says, "you don’t know what avenues could suddenly close for you due to people higher up being friends with the individual."
Personally, though, yeah, I would've walked out of that hotel room. But then I'm not trying to pursue a career where this behavior is running rampant (and, according to many in the comedy scene, it still is, even after Me Too. It's just gone back to being "open secrets" about certain famous comedians that people in power ignore).
