    It's great you both started in time to achieve your dreams, still able to make the necessary sacrifices working towards new goals.. it reminds me of the YT channel "Our rich journey", Amman and Christine with their 2 girls who started FIRE passionately and able to retire just before 40 and are not coincidentally settled down from the US into Nazaré in Portugal..

      thanks for letting us know sue. seems after posting someone has incorrectly flagged our brand name "Sympler" in the uk for copyright infringement. will take a few days to sort out with amazon apparently. Guess the competition were getting nervous!

    Huge respect, that is such a hard plan. How many years did it take you to get here to Portugal? I love the idea of your re-usable coffee capsules (I too feel guilty about tossing those away and hoping they'll get recycled). Good luck!

    • @AlgarveAddicts
      @AlgarveAddicts 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could you suggest some coffee freely available here in Continente that one would use. Just any coffee? What do you use?

      It took about 8years to save up, then we found the land about 3.5 years ago. so once we'd found the land it took us 3 years of patience before we ran out of it and had to move here regardless!

      We use Delta Fairtrade if we dont want to grind or we go to the local store where you can buy without containers and grind our own.

      @@Life.Reimagined That is quite a feat. I am so glad that you have invested in the things necessary to live without so stress with all of the water worries and electricity monitoring. I hope that you enjoy the fruits of your labors and learn to spend more relaxed. How does your mother like her yurt? I would enjoy an update. Does she like the size for one person? Has she had to make any adjustments for climate control? What would she change if she was starting from scratch with what you now know? 🤔

    • @Life.Reimagined
      @Life.Reimagined  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. We will be sure to follow up with a video but to summarise it involves buying and making locally and hiring local staff. Too many tourism companies are UK/Irish companies that end up paying no tax back to the community, hiring staff that send all the money home and buying linen from sweatshops in Pakistan.
      Our project is to capture as much resources both economical and environmental and plant them here in Portugal :) that way we can all grow together .

      Sure. Living expenses currently about 600-800 euro between us. Financed acquisition through working two jobs and minimalistic living. Lots off creative home cooking and free outdoor adventures :)

    Hi, fellow sustainable business owner here with lots of similar lifestyle goals + choices as yours and probably facing some of the same challenges as you in terms of growing a business and negotiating ethics + environmental concerns....I was wondering, as Amazon is one of the most environmentally awful companies (not to mention all the negative stuff around how they treat their workers), how did you justify using them, especially in so many countries? Do you plan to eventually stop using them once your company has grown larger? I debate these things all the time myself, so just want to be clear I'm not here to judge - just wondering what points led towards that decision as it is one I face myself.

    • @Life.Reimagined
      @Life.Reimagined  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, sorry for the late reply and thank you for your comment! It’s definitely been a tricky decision which I thought about long and hard. I myself have many concerns when it comes to Amazon as well but as a small business starting out it simply is a fantastic platform to reach customers. Without that I would have to spend thousands just to reach customers and make people aware that my shop exists. So the choice was to do it this way or to not do it at all. I also don’t view the world as black and white. Whilst there may be many things amazon does that I don’t agree with, the majority of businesses on there are small vendors, which amazon offers an affordable platform to sell their products. I also believe that a platform like Amazon can be a good way to promote more sustainable products to „mainstream“ people who wouldn’t necessarily go out of their way to try and find them. Maybe this way we get more people to think about their environmental impact, that otherwise would never really think about it. Anyway, these are my thoughts, totally get it if people don’t agree with it 😊

      @@Life.Reimagined Thanks for sharing. I go back and forth with it all myself, trying to look at the bigger picture of how to align my ethics and make a larger positive impact while still dismantling the systems that lead to us collectively not thriving as a whole, so appreciate your perspective into the inquiry. It helps me to hear other people's process of arriving at the different decisions so I can know I am considering a wide view :)
