The 360/PS3 version, DLC included, with the extra stuff from this version added in would be the ultimate Force Unleashed experience.

Nah, the 360 and PS3 version is terrible. Weird difficulty spikes, terrible boss battles, iffy platforming.

DLC was great, but that’s all the next gen has gameplay wise. I really wish the PSPs Order 66 mode was on all version. The game was built with combat in mind… might as well have a horde mode that strips out the awful platforming the game has

I played the PS2 version as a kid. Had a lot of fun with friends backtracking through levels to find all crystals and hilts. I still remember a blue crystal and a hilt in Raxus Prime where you had to essentially perform some trick jumps near an ATST to get to the items.
A few years ago I played the xbox 360 version, fully believeing it would be like the PS2 one, but with better graphics. The later gen version was good, but it was a major let down for me when I realized it wasn't the same game

I played it and replayed it during my entire childhood, was only able to play the 360 version later on.
And for me it loses it’s magic when the Troopers on Kashyyyk were not 501st….yeah, the first mission. The attention to detail on the old gen version are superb.

I had the PS2 version as a kid and absolutely loved it.
Something interesting to note tho is how one of the big reasons the story has differences is because the last gen versions are all an earlier draft of the story (with the main console versions being the finalized story) and this is especially evident with how a lot of the voice acting in these versions sound like first takes compared to the takes in the final version

Years later in university, I decided to replay the Force Unleashed on PS3. It felt like I was experiencing the Mandela effect in real time. Everything is just subtly different, and slightly off.

  • @eponymous3784
    @eponymous3784 ปีที่แล้ว +58

I went back to the 360 version recently (the one I played as a kid) and it still holds up as a simple "character action" game with great controls, a few interesting combos that do different things to enemies, and physics that are genuinely impressive to this day. And the story, while not being that great or anything, has its charm in how much it leaned into the "edgy action game" trend. It has its issues, but I'm pleasantly surprised that a licensed game from my childhood didn't turn out to be borderline unplayable upon a revisit.
I'll have to check out the PSP version sometime.

I find it genuinely CRAZY that I never actually played the PS2 version of this. I only ever played the PS3 version. And loved it. I was. A huge fan of the PS2 tho

I notice that while the 360/PS3 version is more reminiscent of the original trilogy, the PSP/PS2/Wii version feels more like the prequels. The soundtrack, shot composition, and overall feel just reminds me more of the prequels than the main version. Take the opening level for example. In the next gen version, it takes place during the day and has OT music. In the old gen version, it takes place at night and has prequel music which reminds us more of Order 66.
And this is an unpopular opinion but I prefer the standard forward-facing saber stance of the old gen version. The reverse grip always looked funny to me.
Great game no matter the system but the PSP version is just awesome. I still play it on the same system to this day.

I played the hell out of the Wii version as a kid, this was the game that introduced me to the Star Wars franchise.
I played the PS3 version much later and while still fun, it just wasn't the same. Despite the bigger scale, the atmosphere and level designs of the Wii version were much more appealing to me (ex: I prefer the more horror-esque feeling of Wii's Raxus Prime).
And like you said, they added more to the story.

So hey, tip with rocketeers, force push can reflect them back or send them towards a closer enemy, it can help take out large groups if you time it right

    I played the PSP versionm
Growing Up with that console always felt like being the last moniey, getting mostly inferior ports and whatnot. But this game felt amazing to play, PsP does indeed have some gems.

Great video mate! I remember back how much of a BIG DEAL this game was back in the day. I played it on the DS until I got a PSP and I played it through to completion so many times I lost count.
Its also worth pointing out that the Order 66 and Force Duel modes on the PSP are not endless. I used to play them constantly as a kid and as hard as they can get, they do eventually end. But it is one heck of a challenge to complete them.

PS2 gen is the superior version of this game. And it honestly isn’t very close in my opinion. It’s a solid game on 360/PS3. But on PS2 it’s absolute peak Star Wars gaming.

The Wii/PS2 version starts more in line with cannon at the time. The Death Star isn’t even done at the end of this game, so why would Vader have full Imperials at the beginning which is at least? 10 years prior? It makes way more sense to have the 501st along side Vader. The start of this version probably happens right after ROTS.

From what I understand, the Wii version is what got ported to the Nintendo Switch. It would have been nice for the Historical and Order 66 modes to be part of the Switch release for the full experience, whether it be included from the get go or as DLC.

Man its crazy thinking i played the ps2 version than the ps3 version as time went on , i even played the wii version of force unleashed 2 and it was so strange the differences between that and the ps3/360 version

I played both the PS2 and the 360 versions. My favorite is the PS2 version. More levels, extended story, more fluid controls. Real-time cutscenes, meaning you can choose the outfit and lightsaber color you want and it will appear it custcenes.

I played this on Wii and didn't realize their were different versions (other than dlc alternate ending etc) until years later. I actually like how the opening level has you fighting alongside the clones as it ties into battlefront II as the clones are still in Vader's legion and it makes the final levels difficulty make more sense (they've fought Jedi before) also Mandalorians need I say more

I had the Wii version (as that was my primary gaming platform at the time), and I remember being very surprised that the PS3 & Xbox 360 versions were different when I finally got my hands on them. I still prefer the Wii version to this day. I was pretty happy when it was revealed that the Switch version was a port of the Wii version.

Force Unleashed Wii was my first experience with the game, and I'm not ashamed to admit that. Force Unleashed 360 is damn fine as well, but the amount of extra content in this version makes it the OTHER version to play. It's a shame that it only got reported to Nintendo Switch, because this version deserves more players.
Also, funny thing for Force Unleashed in general: our protagonist Galen Marek's nickname of "Starkiller" is a reference to the original Star Wars/A New Hope script, where Luke's last name is Starkiller. In the context of the old EU, this actually creates a nice dichotomy between Luke _Skywalker_ being the redeemer, and Galen aka. _Starkiller_ being the redeemed if you're familiar with the canonical ending. Even the evolution of Galen's uniforms fit this with his initial combat jumpsuit being tattered and in a state of decay, and the designs becoming more and more heroic overtime culminating in the white robes.
