    The Catholic Church is finally dealing with its sex abuse scandal. Pop Francis and leaders of the Catholic church recently held a sex abuse summit to form a plan on how to deal with sexual abuse and child abuse. There have been church abuse cover up problems in the past and the leaders are hoping to avoid another catholic church scandal. Priest and executive editor of American Magazine Fr. Sam Sawyer is here to offer the Catholic church sex abuse scandal explained. Sawyer is making sense of the church's response to sex abuse.
    America Media has launched a new podcast, Deliver Us, to provide more context about the abuse crisis in Catholicism and give insights into how the church can heal. To hear more, visit: www.americamag...

    1. Remove statute of limitations on abuse victimss;
    2. No exemptions for mandatory reporting;
    3. Remove their tax status.

      1. That's a legal issue outside of the church. I certainly agree though.
      2. Most diocese have safeguarding commissions who are obligated to bring it to the authorities when it occurs.
      3. The church is the largest charitable organisation in the world, no.
      Even though this video was released five years ago, the church back then was making massive strides in dealing with the crisis, none of which the news ever reported on because of its clear anti catholic bias.

      Actually literally everything you said is curently happening. At least in America. Minors cant be alone with a priest or anyone who isnt family. And the Catholic Church lets the FBI investigate the seminarians after entering seminary and multiple psychological, physociological and physiological evaluations. Do you even know your own laws?

    The institutional structure is the main problem. By implementing certain aspects of that structure over hundreds of years, the church as an INSTITUTION is unsolvable. Think about it, this abuse goes everywhere the church does. By bringing in its customs and unspoken practices the church, via environmental conditioning, creates an environment where abuse can be perpetuated indefinitely via an unaccountable interior (in other words no one can penetrate certain aspects of the institution from the outside). Just come to your own conclusions; priests being molested a children then going on to do the same themselves generation over generation over generation? I wonder what could implement that...

    I dislike the Catholic Church institution so much for these reasons. The Church is also slow to change thanks to its structure, which means whatever bad there is going on will just stick around for a while. On the other hand, people from Catholic households that don't frequent church much but still consider themselves Catholic, are the best kind of people I know. Not as conservative as other evangelicals or muslims. The leadership needs to change, the Catholics are in general pretty chill.

    This is my story of my past. Alot of people may judge me, but i want the world to know. All the difficult and hard challenges i had to overcome. To get my mind in the right state to live my life. I came from parents who didnt really care about themselves, so they didnt really care about there kids. My whole childhood before me and my 3 sisters went to Child Protective Services, we would live in hotels and tents. The longest we ever stayed in a house or apartment was 1 year out of 10 years. We were on the Dallas Morning Star for being the poorest family in Dallas, i was on the front page on my step-fathers shoulders. My parents forced me on medication at 3 years old, because they were too busy on crack and cocaine to take care of me. Then my life was really hard for those next 7 years. When i was 10, my 3 little sisters and me were taken by Child Protective Services. When we were taken i didnt know what was going on i was mad, frustrated, and confused. They took me to a placement in Dallas, Buckner Childrens Home i was there for maybe a month. That whole month i was so mad, i wanted to see my mom and understand what was happening. I was a 70lbs boy and got thrown down by a 250lbs grown man because i wouldnt listen to them. These staff members are just paid to do there jobs they dont care about any of these kids in these placements, remeber what i just said. That was just the first month i was in Child Protective Services, i was there 8 more years that was only the beginning. The whole first year they moved me from boys homes to mental hospitals, then to a boys & girls home in Houston, TX. Now at the boys & girls home something happened to me that would mentally mess with me for a long time. I was sexually molested by people that were there. The reason why im telling you this is because people dont really pay attention to whats happening at these boys homes. Now remember this was only 1 year in CPS, i was already thrown down every day about 4 times a day because i was "out of control". A 70lbs boy with bruises all over him and his face because a staff member threw him down on concrete. If they tell you to do something and you dont listen they can say you were out of control on paper work and do whatever they want to you because there are no cameras in the homes. Now that was just the first year in CPS. I will give part 2 of my story later on, i plan to write a book so the world can know whag happened in CPS those 7 years but that book would be 100 pages. The point of this story is to get the word out how kids are abused in the system. let me tell my story

    They will never heal from this. This has always been the Catholic church. They have always been abusive.
    They have always been sexually abusive, they have always been physically abusive, they have always been emotionally abusive.
    They have always ignored victims, they have always silenced victims, they have always gaslighted victims.
    They have always protected abusers, they have always excused abusers, they have always been a safe zone for abusers.
    There is nothing they can to to erase that. There is nothing they can do to forgive their harm.
    This is not a scar that will be left on the Catholic churches. It is they very essence of their being. They have left a scar on history, and the wound is hasn't gone away.

      Preach, my friend!!! You are exactly right, unfortunately. They have always been a criminal organization. There are records of their abuse going back centuries. Including, even, helping the American and Canadian governments steal Native American children from their parents, to put them in Catholic schools to "civilize them". Yeah, only one guess as to what happened to those kids... The Catholic tragedy is endless...

    The reason why Pope Francis couldn't talk about the abuse by the Cardinals is that the Cardinals took advantage of confession. Pope Francis is bound by confession to not speak about the confessor's sins, he isn't trying to protect them from being charged.

    • @jamesduque880
      @jamesduque880 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thats has to be the most interesting answer Ive ever heard. And yes, due to the seal of confession, the Pope cannot talk about the sins of the cardinals who confessed to him. But in the case of Cardinal Pell, who just got 6 yrs for his crimes. The Pope should advocate for a life sentence. But why hasnt he done that? He dosent WANT to. And what about preist in the U.S.A that the Pope hears about? They havent notified him of a confession. So why he cant he uncover those?

    • @fpp144
      @fpp144 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a good point and it is still a debated topic where in court u have to swear by the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth but the dilema lies when a priest is asked about whats said in the confessional. Does he risk persecution from court or possible excommunication from the Church? However my belief is that just saying a confession is not enough. If u break someone's window you pay for it to be fixed. Thus Pope Francis and ANY priest should help them to come clean.

    The Romans infiltrated Christ teachings and change the Sabbath day Saturday prescribed by Christ and told Christians Sunday and gave them their Roman Cruifix Cross, a Cross the Roman empire would use on anyone who opposed Roman Laws and was nailed to it beside Jesus and before and after his Ressurrection. The temples of worship have a Roman Cruifix Cross upon it of symbolism. The book of Enoch was removed and he was a prophet.
