I didn't need to do this, but I couldn't stop watching. Professional mechanic, professional video producer. After watching i almost wished i needed to do this....almost.
Just got this stupid code a few days ago so I'll b doing this shortly and this is by far the the best how to video for Ls1 knock sensor replacement I will definitely use ur video as a guide excellent tutorial
This is an excellent video, extremely good work! Actually, working on a 2005 Silverado 5.3 and this helps. Now if I can get the rest of the plugs off of the injectors, I'll be standing in tall cotton...what a hassle, must be the age - in 2 hours yesterday I pulled 3.
Don't need knock sensors, but I'm switching my truck intake over to a ls6 and was so uncertain if the gasket had to be like the truck gaskets. You just answered my question that so many people couldn't help me with. 👍👍👍
Ive never done much more than your typical oil change. Never even done brakes. But thanks to this video I changed my cam position sensor on my 2001 SS Camaro which needed the intake mani removed. Thanks a lot man
This should be an instructional video on how to make an instructional video, or required watching for everyone who is making one. Outstanding job, thank you!
@@mikehawk3268 yes, its actually easier on the ls2 since u dont have to deal with pcv tubing being that its a hose that curves downward from the intake..and less clutter
Awesome video, may have been mentioned, but be very careful, oil pressure sensor can be buried in the vacuum line, behind intake and break when you pull. Great video. Very clear. Also just wrap electrical tap to hold the bolts.
First off, this is a good tutorial, and a nice guide to know what to remove and such. With that said, let's not kid ourselves here, this is a big job. 85-90% of the time, you "WILL" break the oil pressure sending unit, if your car has lots of mileage. Best to have one on standby or you will find yourself driving to the auto parts store. Secondly, no matter what you are doing, replace the plenum gaskets. These are cheap and easy to do. If the intake has to come off, replace them. Also, expect the PVC tubing to crack and break.
Are the plenum gaskets you speak of the 8 intake gaskets? He mentioned that I think. But if there's another gasket set, I'm interested in knowing more.
No. The plenum gasket is the metal slab ("valley cover") that sits on the top of the block, in the valley end to end, with the large gasket and 8 bolts. He starts the removal at about 12:00 of the video.@@RobertMacaulay
@Backyard Chevy Thank you so much for taking the time and documenting every single step! Subscribed!!! Just wanted to confirm, there is no need to de-pressurize the fuel system before removing the fuel rail and injectors? Just want to really make sure. Dealing with pressurized fuel freaks me out.
If u disconnect the fuel line u do have to depressurize it, but i left it attached to fuel rail and didnt remove injectors so i didn't have to do it...but i have a video on replacing fuel filter that shows u how to depressurize it just to be safe
Thank you for your video. I recently bought a 1998 trans am and was wondering if you had a video for code PO452. Problem for that code started to come up after I asked a mechanic if he could change it out the fuel pump since I wanted to do preventative maintenance on it. If not any advice on what to look for when trying to fix the problem?
i had a Camaro with that code that ended up being the fuel pressure sensor..but you'll definitely wanna check ur fuel cap gasket and verify its tightening properly if not, unfortunately that sensor is difficult to get to since its tucked up on top of fuel tank
hi. I just did this replacement and one of the knock sensors (front) wouldn't tighten the tread was stripped apparently. It holds a bit but keeps spinning if pressured .I closed the car up and the code came back. What can I do about the stripped thread it might be the engine not the sensor that is stripped. Can I add anything to hold it in place tighter???
bro question i have 02 camaro z28 . i rebuilt it everything i replaced the oil pump with meiling idk but when the cars running oil pressure is pegged over 80 but when i turn car off its right before 60. u think i damaged the oil pressure sensor ? lmk asap big dog
Sounds like a faulty oil pressure sensor..it should drop to 0 with the car off and ignition on...u said u rebuilt it, any chance there was shavings or material in oil and maybe cloggjng up the sensor...what u can do, if u can reach in the back and disconnect it,depending on what way the tab is pointing..then connect it to a new sensor so u dont disassemble everything..turn key on if pressure drops back to 0 then it should be the sensor that was the problem
@@backyardchevy328 your right, to replace that sensor should im doing the exact process you show on this vid which tool do i use to replace the oil pressure sensor ?
Unfortunately no..i did this job on a few trucks but before i started my channel..i havent had to do any as of yet..but if i do..ill be sure to make a video on it
Theyre about 40 dollars...and theyre meant to detect any sort of engine detonation or preignition that can potentially damage engine, so if the knock sensor picks up any sort of knock the computer begins to adjust the timing or fuel to help prevent it from continuing
Means theres a vacuum leak..if the gaskets stayed in place and the manifold is fully seated all around id check for any disconnected vacuum lines, maybe that hose in the back where the map sensor is, or the brake hooster hose make sure that was reinstalled
@@backyardchevy328 no sir it work fine..I change the cam sensor an oil prr an the pcv valve hose and put it vak together and thats wen my rpm stop workn
