Those are Texas Playboys Eldon Shamblin sitting playing guitar, Herb Remington on steel, and Leon Rausch behind Eldon. Plus Johnny Gimble on mandolin and fiddle. Mighty fine!
What's not to love about a lacquered and flamed black upright bass, a great bass player surrounded by Ray Benson and Asleep At The Wheel!!? Ray sure liked focusing and showing off Cindy's abilities. Prettiest smile and cutest dimples to grace The Wheel.
@@CarterG4Y Oh, yes great. Johnny IMO was probably the best fiddle player during his era. Very smooth. He also could play many jazz type tunes. The only other fiddle player is Mark O'Connor who is today by far the best (including his family!). But Johnny played many sessions with Chet which alone tells something. Indeed he was great and fit in well with AATW. RIP.
@@BoFrazer oh agree. Johnny and Jason well, impossible to be any better. Johnny was just so smooth on country and jazz. Certainly one of the best ever. Thx for reply. Great Texan.
Got turned on to ya'll in 1974 and will continue to abuse my neighbors with these beautiful tunes.THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH.
Met Ray after a concert in Greenville S.C. as he was getting on their bus. He was very gracious and took the time to talk to us. Nice man.

Asleep At The Wheel is the rightful heirs to the legacy of Western Swing started by Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys!
The most underrated band of all time.
And the most famous Philadelphia cowboy. LOL
Agreed.
How could anyone give this a thumbs down? I have been a fan of this band since high school (1987)
I graduated high school in 1987, been a fan of asleep at the wheel ever since they started.

No mistaking Johnny. His nephew Jason Roberts played with the wheel for years, and now Emily is on piano. 💙 Killers all.

@@CarterG4Y That's also the immortal Eldon Shamblin on rhythm guitar.
This kind of music you'll never never even will hear or encounter in Europa. Utterly neglected. It' a shame.
Ar
Asleep At The Wheel has toured in Great Britain and in Europe.
Oh Jazz.
...? What ever happened to Cindy Cashdollar? The steel guitar player!
Alive and well, here latest album if great, has lots of guest artists. check it out on Amazon or Spotify
Cindy is the best. Moved back to Woodstock. Austin misses her.
She gigged with Jorma for awhile.
Someone put that Tele in the dryer too long. It shrunk...
Yes, Ray makes it look like a mandolin!
Should have been that blonde thru whole darn song.

Can’t hear Cindy at all.
