Oh my god i never noticed the camera opening and closing in, that's so clever I honestly hope we see more of these video-essays in the future, learning about the artistic choices and production of a game is always interesting (even more so coming from someone so close to the project)
Another good example is what Undertale did with it's UI. Multiple times, it's implied that the interface is another element if the world, wich leads to the final confrontations of each route to interact with it differently. Flowey displays dominance by taking away the player's control of the game, Sans acknoledges that due to the nature of the game, he stops atacking so his turn never ends.
Also, the yellow names that monsters get when allowing mercy can be eliminated and replaced by pink ones by a character. After that, when inspecting trash you can find the yellow names in it
i don't think sans not attacking would be one of the key takeaways from undertale's ui integration, it's more of the game being aware of its own tropes and using them against the player. instead, you could refer to sans attacking the player in the ui: players are used to the ui being safe and not being part of the attack phase, which makes sans being able to attack through it more surprising
15:19 wait, that was suppose to be a phone?! I was wondering what does that cone shape object at the top was suppose to be, so it was actually an antenna that old phone uses ahhhh
IMO for CJK characters to work properly there need to be space for 7px Latin letters to begin with. Then it should make displaying 9px CJK characters much easier. (Sure there won't be any space left for line margin but having everything squeezed together fits the old tech vibe just fine.) And if the Latin letters were already 5 or 6px high I'd say it would be better to just display CJK in vector. Even though 5px and 7px Chinese font were a thing (and I kinda doubt those were originated from Pokemon ROM hacks) I don't think they are readable enough and it just don't feel old tech at all.
lecture about UI and giacomo's cool voice are well-shown on this 20 minutes video
Blu pen I love your videos!!

Best way of making tutorials is straight from the devs! This video is a great example
it’s nice you decided to incorporate the UI into the rhythm doctor world, even if it does set some limitations. ludonarrative harmony my beloved
Yes, 22 minutes of a video lecture that's truly inspiring
Fantastic video with a great insight on the translation process from a more design-oriented sense on top. I thoroughly enjoyed this.

I've thought of it as more of, like a radio-like gadget with a screen.
Great video!
I was (kinda) suprised when I found out this was made in the 7BG channel
