The Ultimate Van Build Journey:
In Season 1 of the van build, we stripped off the old DPD stickers, rust-proofed the entire van, painted it our favorite matte grey color, redesigned the cab, planned our van's design / layout, created our epic water tanks, built our custom panorama roof windows, installed new wheels, & installed an insulated floor! PHEW! Building a home is something else! bit.ly/LM_SEASON1
Then Season 2 of the van build rolled around, and with our workshop's renovation behind us, it got TECHNICAL! We built a 47 degree solar tilt (1kW of solar power!), made custom seat bases & installed our custom seats, we took security to the NEXT level, breaking down our 12 incredible layers of security, wired everything our tech-dependent home will need, created the BEST insulation we've ever seen in a campervan (check out our video on campervan insulation & cold camping insulation), installed our own custom security cameras, framed the ceiling, AND created our peak-a-boo curtains. 🐾 Who are we?
We’re Ladi (from Czechia) & Margaret (from USA) and we love eBikes, campervans, & cats. In 2020 our van life lifestyle flipped upside down, & we needed to stop traveling in our camper to lockdown in eastern Czech Republic due to the pandemic. With no travel plans and some new time on our hands, we decided to sell our old van, start an electric bike business, begin a youtube channel, build our ultimate dream campervan, renovate a junkyard into a tiny house homestead, plan a container & upper workshop space… well, some other smaller projects in-between 😅.
What we thought would only be 6 months of “stillness” has become 2 years of innovation, progress, and so much fun, and most of that is thanks to YOU. Although we’re excited to be back on the road and traveling the world again soon, we’re so thankful to lay a foundation here in Central Europe & bring you with us on this crazy journey. He did a great job on the door and in making this video on his own. You both complement each other so well. Normally we are blessed to see you work together as a team. You hit another one out of the park. Awesome how lightweight it is. Good choice on removing the gray screws. The only thing I would do differently is make the green handle black and make the color of the panel gray to match the gray on the back door. Just personal preference. Thanks for the inspiration!
I'm planning my own build and watching every video under the sun to know all my options. It often seems like people don't take things as far as they could because they're desperate to get on the road and then simple things like hanging a door end up on complaints lists.
This was so satisfying to watch. Taking the time to really think of everything from function to aesthetic is what I want to see.

Love the attention to detail, new fav van builds to watch! The condensation collector they have them on narrow boats, heads up they need cleaning regularly with like an old toothbrush and flush the pipe.
It's just so satisfying to watch you put so much thought and effort into doing things right! That is unfortunately too rare in my experience, so seeing you both put your all into every one of your projects is a joy.
Marvelous - I'm a furniture designer/maker and dialing in my own 4x4 Astro van - Time is a thing though so I'm not able to put THAT much time into all the finite details put into just this one door panel. The 3D printing and the fabulous shop space (I mean, COME ON! that bandsaw along is friggin' incredible) is pretty mind blowing - In the end when you factor all the time into it that door panel is several thousand dollars worth of time and material....
wow, another amazing video! I LOVE the 'over engineering' that you guys do, it is so satisfying to see people actually giving it their all and making it the best they possibly can, especially when it comes to things you don't really think about like condensation. Keep it up, these videos are the best!

You never ever fail to amaze me! Honestly, van build gods! Do you think you would ever consider creating a 3D model library of parts you print, so those with the same vehicle model could use your models (either with a voluntary donation or at cost to have access to your genius!)
I have a few ‘let you imagine run wild’ ideas that were too hard for me to execute but I think you guys would be able to do it. 1. Incorporate the Closet Boom wardrobe hangers (only 8cm deep built to fit behind a door, plus once you have clearer the hanger (of course choose space conscious extra high hangers) your closes take up less than 8cm in depth) somewhere in the van, maybe in the partition, or maybe on the sliding door (might not be enough space). 2. Open concept shower. Use cabinets toekick, shower drain channels, all on a tiled kitchen floor. Instead of shower walls you have quick dry shower curtains.
I've finished my van, everything except the side door! Because I know how much work it's going to be! Thanks for the inspiration.

Thick curved wooden things are made in Japan over a mold like that, but I think they are steamed as well. I’m more sure. So cool! Nice job!

Ever since I was a little kid and we got our first van conversion the bare metal on the back doors and the naked side doors whether they’re hinged or slide, have never made sense to me at all I am so glad you are able to cover them, give them good insulation, and actually provide a repeatable way other people can do the same! Thank you so much for your imagination and follow through and craftsmanship!

Margaret, I hope you had a wonderful time visiting your father. That was really good airfare, for sure. Ladi...where to start...you have such a creative brain. There are so many things you have taken to solving that most people just say, "Oh well!", and deal with them. Also, both of you have such an eye for fit and finish...like with the grey screws in this video, changing them to black. I absolutely loved your solution for capturing the condensation at the bottom of the window...GENIOUS! Last but not least, Ladi's sense of humour was adorable in this one. I love to see him so excited over his (and your) ideas coming to fruition.

Outstanding, although you might want to increase the size of your dip holes in the bins as surface tension may mean they don't drip with such a small hole.

I came into your van build late, but I am disabled and spend a lot of time bed ridden, but I managed to catch up pretty quickly. I think what you are doing is fabulous and then I see you have a dog but won’t take him with you, he looks happy with where he is and he looks old, so why not let the family keep him and when you come back you have a friend to greet you, and you will be back as you want to build vans and your tiny home on site so have a heart for the small guy.

Love the curved corners made by laminating veneers. we have experimented with curved corners using kerf bends. May now have to try through laminated route.
