  • I've stitched these forget-me-nots with Petal Stitch. I'll show you how you can learn how to stitch it too. Along with other simple stitches you could then make this yourself and turn the finished piece into a picture or put it onto a card as a gift. This is page 4 in the fabric flower book that I am currently working on.

    So very pretty. 😍 Watching you stitch this page brought back a lovely memory for me. I remember as a little girl walking to my Nan's house. The lady who lived on the corner was in her garden as I passed by. She smiled and recited a verse, as she gestured to her bed filled with forget-me-nots. The verse escapes me now. I remember the gentle pace at which she spoke, the volume of her voice, and the poem ending with something like 'the gentle blue forget-me-knots. ' It was one of those sweet fleeting moments in life that had long lasting impact. I have held a real fondness for forget-me-knots ever since then. 😊

      Thanks for sharing that Leanne. Memories like that sometimes catch you unaware. I love remembering the forget me nots at Grandma's house. She didn't really have a garden...more like a wild patch of grass and wild flowers with the odd rose here and there.

    Welll my goodness!!!!! I’ve just learnt something very new. What a beautiful stitch with the forget-me-nots!!! Amazing.
    Ohhhhhhh why would anyone want to get rid of forget-me-nots. I’d be sad too. Love them. So gorgeous.
    I wrote about them for mum (at her funeral recently) and it did put a smile on everyone’s faces. ❤❤❤
    This just has to be my favourite flower page yet. Besides roses and orchids forget-me-nots are in my favourite 3 flowers.
    My fourth are Helibores.

      I'm with you there Melinda! People always wanted rid of forget me nots and foxgloves. I think because they're native and seed themselves about people couldn't see the value in them. All the flowering plants from other countries had to be nurtured and cossetted. I like them all... but still like the lovely native flowers that grown without being demanding!

      Definitely petal stitch. I've seen some comments saying variations on lazy daisy. But it's not made in the same way. The nearest I can think of is popcorn stitch, but there the loops are made without the aid of a pin.
      My first embroideries were made as a child using such patterns that came on transfers which were ironed on to whatever you wanted to stitch on.

      Yes... they'll just look like a straight line if you anchor them at their full length. Give them some slack and then run your needle underneath the finished stitch to help the threads lie nicely. Good luck with it 🧵🪡

    Very pretty, very delicate. I didn’t know that stitch, but you taught it very well. Online I saw double daisy stitch (yours is triple) and someone here in the comments thinks it’s a “stacked lazy daisy.” I also saw a “petal stitch” done exactly as your puffy petals. I will try it soon! My brain is focusing better today. Maybe it’s that Bruce Lee water trick.

    • @marionsworld24
      @marionsworld24  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It's definitely petal stitch Mara. Lazy daisy and their variations don't have the knot at the top of the petal before they are sewn down. Also you could go as many times around the pin as you wanted to. It's a good one to try out! I hope the brain fog drifts away ... it's not good for the concentration..

      It's got a bit cold here to sit outside stitching away. But that is how I like to work when I can. As for my needle I'm not that precise when it comes to needles for every different type of work. I was actually using a shortish embroidery needle with a good point and a largish eye. The main thing is to have an appropriate eye for the thickness of the thread. The eye is what is going to make the hole big enough for the thread to slide through. Other than that, I just pick up whichever one I feel will work!
