Totally agreed! Yes, too much midsole cushioning isn’t ideal for the training. What is your next race and when are you running in the city? Would love to “social run” with you if you have a group run in the future weekend!

Nike metcons aren’t very good lifting shoes. Go with Altra Soltice or Altra Rivera 2’s or Altra Escalante. Those are all zero drop and have varying levels of zero drop cushioning. The other big plus is that you’ll be able to fully splay your toes for better balance during compound lifts like deadlifts.
That's good advice, I started wearing Xero barefoot running shoes back in November of 2022.. When the weather got warm I ran outside for the 1st time in the Xero barefoot running shoe.. NEVER again, lol.. After about an hour of walking, jogging & sprinting; I could barely walk.. Needless to say, I'm going back to running outside in CUSHIONED running shoes.. lol..

Buy a cheap pair of shoes that have no high stack and are flat go to a local ross or walmart with cheap shoes. Or you dont have to wear shoes, you can go barefoot
Pegasus 39’s are fairly versatile and work for both. They do have a higher drop but their firm enough for strength training. Personally, I workout out barefoot at the home gym and prefer other shoes for running
Keep everything separated. After my 6 mile run in 47 minutes, I remove my running shoes and wash them. I then change to my daily walking shoes. Running shoes is only for running.
I made that mistake and almost lost the weight over my shoulders because my shoes were to cushiony and I rolled my ankle which I knew not to wear so I just took my shoes off. Now I just wear my vans.
But the metcon has a 4mm drop... Most running shoes have a 5-10mm drop depending on the brand. Under Armour makes the Tribase Reign 6. It has a 2mm drop and if you take the drop in midsole out, you can make it a zero drop.
I agree that most running shoes aren’t great gym shoes but I run at the gym on the treadmill so I need one pair to do both tasks (running and lifting). I love the Brooks Hyperion Tempo. Does both tasks really well.
Depends on your foot. Brooks shoes gave me plantar fasciitis because there was a solid ball of support under my arch that would bend my foot when I tried to do squats. my pain was so bad I dropped the bar bell and pulled a muscle. Anything that modifies your arch is bad news for lifting
@@kieransoregaard-utt8 what do you know about my feet and my experience? Nothing. I am informing, take it or leave it. Pay attention to power lifters and see many wear converse, as flat as they get.
I work out 1-2 times every day and also run 1-2 times everyday, and I can tell you- I have not worked out in my running shoes a single time 😂 my SPIKES on the other hand… nah im playing
I have a genuine question ,i do cardio as well as weights .but i spend like 30 minutes on treadmill & 10 on skipping & jumping, most of the minuteson treadmill r either sprint or 5-6 min. 10-11speed run . And so what's best for me.

man, im in this video and don't like it lmfao
It’s the opposite at my gym, everybody who clearly doesn’t run wears Hoka’s with really high stacks.
I thought Hoka’s were good for running 😭😭 I was gonna purchase some because I need new running shoes
@@sharnaepegues7025hoka's are running shoes and are really nice. Go for last years shoes and you'll get them for cheaper as well.most of the technology is still the same.
@@sharnaepegues7025 Hoka makes great running shoes! I love mine. I think they meant folks were using Hoka running shoes to strength train at their gym
Principle is still the same for lifting, I’d rather wear nothing than wear Hokas for lifting
I just use converse to train. I don't want to dish out the money on lifting shoes
100%. Just some old fashioned Chuck Taylor Converse.
Litterally just about to comment this, but realized theres most definitely someone who beat me to it
Bruh I use same shoes for football, futsal, sprinting, jogging, workout and so on 😂
What shoe do you use?

Ok not to hate or anything, but not all of us have the money to have a million different pairs of shoes. I only have one pair of running shoes.
Tough fucking luck buddy get your money up vans are $60 dollars and are good strength training shoes keep making excuses
An easy solution is to do all your stationary workout with the shoes on, and then do the heavy strength workouts like Squats and deadlift barefoot.
I use the Brooks Hyperion Tempo for both. They do a good job for both running and lifting. One pair both tasks!
We must stay focused brother
We must

Altra Escalante Racer, with the sockliner removed. The foot bed is made to be stood/ran on without it. Amazing lifting shoe.
Very important which most people ignore. I have like 7 pairs of shoes all for different days, speed workouts, easy runs, interval, resistance etc.
all those shoes just to run a mid time lol

use a flat foot shoe for strength training maybe converse or any other canvas shoe.
On point!
I only use a flat shoe when I’m training my legs.
Me wearing Alta’s to run the treadmill because I immediately do weights after running
Most of the time if we’re lifting at a practice I’ll just take off my shoes and have socks on
Im convinced nike is behind him
😏
He’s sponsored by them lol
Bro I just lift barefoot. Keeps me rooted enough just fine for squats and deadlifts.
So true
unless you at home or a private gym, you can easily get kicked out for that
IT'S TRASHY AND DISGUSTING BARE WALKING. GROSS!🎉

I use metcons too for strength training!
I use Hoka Arabic 6 most of the time at the gym. Unless it’s leg day it doesn’t really matter. Lower body day it’s the Nobull Crosstrainer for me.
im gonna use my older pairs of running shoes for lifting
I really wanna strength train but I just can't be arsed.. its not my thing 😢
Chuck Taylors are my go to lifting shoe. Cheap and have zero drop.
👀 Metcon 8 found at Orangetheory. The treadmills have plenty of bounce. Metcons are a power play on the weight floor and tower.
I run on the treadmill and lift weights every time I go to gym lol. I couldn’t run in flat shoes
I hate to train barefoot so thanks.
YO CHOI. TOO MUCH GOOD KNOWLEDGE IM ABOUT TO BUSST

I take my shoes off after a run and work out in my running socks 😅
The metcon is NOT zero drop! Great shoe for CrossFit / medium to light weight lifting though. A close cheaper option is the reebok nano range
I don’t know. Its feels very good when I train in my running shoes

No everyone wants to be barefoot. You don’t need special strength training shoes pretty much anything will be alright.
