Dana- you're the tapestry queen- why not consider doing smaller tapestries for sale- themed to the season (leaves, fall words, christmas, etc). Also for bookmarks- maybe consider the same- themed to the season- leaves on a brown stem for fall, holly for winter.
I have thought about doing that! I don’t know how they’d perform but I’m definitely considering. Just don’t know what my wrist would think😅 and yes I agree on the bookmarks as well!
I’ve been loving these videos while prepping for my own market coming up on Saturday! Thank you for making my crochet time feel like a cozy sit down with a friend 💕
I'm so glad the market went well! It's so interesting which things people tend to gravitate towards, and how one thing might not seem to be selling well and then suddenly it changes. There was a time a few years ago where my mom and I saw a booth I had purchased a necklace from when I was a kid, and the owner asked us to watch her booth while she ran to the bathroom. It's definitely super common to ask someone to watch your booth for a few minutes!
I agree! It’s soooo incredibly unpredictable. And oh gosh you and your mom are sweet souls! We are so lucky to have people like you in our corner 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🥹❤️
I do markets by myself often and you are so correct that there is always help. And other vendors are so kind if I need to step out. I also do a rug and agree it helps bring it together. Great job on your market and excellent recap!!❤
You’re so helpful to crafters! I had my first market last week and you’re so right about other vendors being helpful. I had never set up a canopy tent and the young lady at the next space came over to help me set it up. She was so kind.
Thank you for posting this! I have been wanting to do markets for quite a while but have been very intimidated by the whole deal. Seeing this really helps and you're so sweet encouraging everyone!
Congratulations on a good market. Everyone at the markets I do, are always helpful. I'm lucky my dad hangs out with me at every market. I couldn't do it without him. I love how you husband has your back and supports you. Your booth looks amazing. Keep up the fantastic work. ❤
Love your videos, only found you a couple of days ago but I am already finding that your run down on markets, preps and displays are so helpful please keep the videos coming, I have my first market coming up at the end of November, I've kept it very small for my first to allow me to get used to it all, still feeling very nervous though.
Oh gosh well welcome to my channel friend! I’m so happy to have you here! I’m so excited for you to do your first show! You’re going to do AMAZING!! You’ll have to update me after to tell me how it went 😊❤
I’ve been binge watching your videos and just LOVE you and your genuine content!!! So cute and very helpful. Thank you for sharing such great info with all of us! ❤
I'm genuinely so surprised that more pumpkins didn't sell!! I think you're safe to sell frogs with and without the witch accessories if you aren't able to find any more just because of how stinking cute they are 🥰 thanks for sharing your market with us!
I'm in the same area as you and have considered doing markets. While I do crochet it isn't my main craft. Really appreciate the videos on the local markets.
Hey sweet friend!! So proud of you for doing that market🦋 I LOVED this vlog, thank you for sharing all of this information. I have never done a show before but I love watching all of the tips and tricks so that one day I will have as much knowledge as possible. Be so careful with all of these storms! Hugss💗
Hiiiii sweet girl!!! Omg you’re so sweet!!! Well I know if you ever do a show you’d absolutely slay it and it’d be amazing! And of course I’d be rooting for you 🥰😍😍 you be careful to if you’re anywhere near them HUGGSSSS💓💓💓
I really appreciate your channel and ideas ❤. A caveat about the rug though, it can easily become a tripping hazard and folks who use wheelchairs and walkers often can’t manage a throw rug especially on grass. It’s why you rarely or even never see veteran vendors use one. Even though they do look amazing. Really looking forward to your next video!!!
Hi your set-up was fantastic 💖 it realy looked like a shop. I must say you did very well considering that there were so many other chrochet booths. All the best for your next show 💖
Hi friend! I just wanted to tell you how great your booth looked! I do want to mention that the rug would prevent me from being able to shop at your booth due to my wheelchair. It might be something to think about in the future! ❤
Omg thank you for the insight. I’m so sorry I didn’t even think of that because it’s quite thin but I see what you’re saying and I really appreciate you letting me know that !!
I’m so glad your market did well. I enjoyed the video recap. I’m always curious about what sells just out of curiosity. I’m working on a blanket for my husband and I just finished a blanket for my daughter’s birthday. It is in fall colors since her birthday is in October. Good luck with preparing for your October event!
Being by myself at a market is one of the reasons why I haven’t really pushed myself to step out. I know my husband would help me set up/take down, but I don’t know if he’d hangout with me all day. Thanks for a great video!
Have you thought about putting a camera in the corner of your tent angled toward where your checkout is? I have seen other market videos do something like this.
Happy for you ! It's good to hear that the frogs did well, I am making similar ones for my next market 😊 For the tapestry, maybe do something for a nursery with a little elephant, lion, bunny etc it would be so cute in a baby's room ! I would love to do that one day, but I find tapestry hard for some reason 😢
I'm glad your show went well!! I'm glad you had a lot of good sellers. I'm surprised about the lavender bookmarks too. They aren't technically "in season" but they're so pretty !! I thought they'd sell anyways, but maybe next show or when spring rolls around they'll get bought up. If you ever have the time/inclination, I'd be interested to know what your profit per show is! Like how much money you made, minus booth fee, material costs, and labor.
I love the look of a rug, but as a disabled person I won't go into a booth that has one and I will never have one at my booth because of the risk. I'm a huge fall risk. I have an oxygen cart that I pull as well as a walker I push and it's just not safe for people like me. So something to consider and be considerate of your disabled customers :)
Someone else mentioned this and i truly never thought about the trip hazard because it’s such a thin rug but i completely understand and I won’t be using it again for that reason!
Do you have any tips for someone who is doing their very first market, and there are at least 10 other established crochet vendors going to be there? I was originally making all amigurumi, but I noticed that a few of the others were also doing that. So I added in some crochet jewelry, but one of the other businesses makes gorgeous crochet jewelry. So then I added in potholders, scrubbies, and other home good things, but again, someone else focuses on that stuff. I feel like the only thing I have different, is that I make cat toys as well, since my business is called "Six Cats Crafts", but I don't know if that is enough to stand out or not.
Congrats on a successful market Dana! For your next show, are you going to theme your mystery boxes to Fall/Halloween or make the same plushies since they always sell out anyways? I know when I go to markets, my sister and I always buy at least two mystery boxes from multiple booths lol we love the surprise of them. Did any of your book covers sell? I’m curious bc I’m an avid book reader and would buy in an instant so I’m curious if they did. Hope your next market goes as great as this one did! 💖💖
I would love to do fall themed mystery boxes only I don’t have a printer right now so I can’t print out a new sign with different plushy on it so unfortunately I will be doing the same ones I did previous but in the future yes I would love to do that! Also, my book covers do not sell at all sadly. I also feel like they are so cute, but nobody ever buys them. I have them listed super low as well and still at that price they don’t sell. It’s so sad!!
Dana, You probably don’t remember but a couple vids ago I said how I had a market and I was not really ready for, but it got pushed to this weekend and I feel so much more confident and prepared now! (It’s cuz it was raining so much)
🎉 congratulations on your market. For the large pumpkins what is you do a discount if you buy large get X off a mini pumpkin? I love watching your vlogs, keep up the great work
You’re so talented and I love watching your videos! Random question- Would you mind telling me what kind of lipstick and foundation you use? Your makeup always looks gorgeous. My skin tone is very similar to yours and makeup can be tricky for me.
For my make up, I don’t use foundation I just use elf concealer with the airspun translucent loose powder over top! And then I use elf liquid blush which is what I feel always makes my makeup look like I have a full foundation on (which I like) when really I don’t have to now because of it. For my lips I only were lipliner by color pop in the shade oh snap (best color ever!) and then I just wear a clear gloss or chapstick over top! I don’t wear an actual lip shade! I hope that helps!
How well does your tapestry sell generally at markets - also how do you price it? I’m in the UK and don’t want to fork out and stress making amigurumi. I would love to do market with my other things - xxx
This was my first time trying a tapestry at a market. So I don’t have much information on how they would typically perform . I don’t usually bring them because they would be so expensive to sell, because they take me so long to make. I did not price this one according to my time. I just wanted to see if it would sell because it’s one I don’t usually use anymore. But if I was to sell my tapestries, they would be hundreds of dollars, which is why I don’t bring them
Hi Dana, I have enjoyed watching your videos since I found you. What is the yarn you use for your beanies? Also what pattern? I had a pattern and all seem pretty similar but just curious as to what you use. Great job in all your products and videos!!!
The way I price is how much time the project took me x my hourly rate + a markup (typically 30%). If you’re interested I have a very old ‘will it market video’ and I break down how I price my items in detail if you need some help with that ❤
If I’m being honest …. Making money 😂 I know that sounds terrible. I love being there and getting content and networking but at the end of the day I am there to make money and the more I make usually the more I enjoy the show. To be completely transparent 😅
@@BlondieKnots My daughter was a dancer with a ballet company in Manassas for two years. I thought I recognized the train station! Did you do a market there last year? Because I was at one there !
